Relationship wise I mean Population: Nashville:545,524 Atlanta Metro: 5,314,283 Urban Atlanta 498,109 Dallas:1,232,940 Average Attendance 08 Nashville:14,910 Atlanta:15,824 Dallas:18,038 Percentage of Population that contributes to average attendance: Nashville: 2.7% Atlanta: .29% metro 3.2 percent urban Atlanta Dallas:1.5% Ratio wise more Nashville citizens attend games than Atlanta or Dallas fans. For the small city of Nashville they do well. That's why attendance figures are deceptive because they are just that attendance figures. They don't account for demographics. Along the same lines taking that into account Detroit and Montreal (#1 in attendance) shakes out something like this. Detroit Pop=498,109 Detroit Average Attendance=18,912 Percentage= 3.76% Montreal Pop=1,854,442 Montreal Average Attendance=21,273 Percentage= 1.1% So the claim about loyal fans holds water. The bigger cities should have higher attendances. Atlanta, Florida, and Dallas all have larger populations.

I would have to say other than the Wings, I like Nashville. Their fans are in an area dominated by American football yet they still come out regardless of how they are doing. They are probably the best of all the Southern United States teams because unlike Atlanta, Dallas, and Florida, Nashville fans still come out when their team isn't doing so hot. That being said, I root for the Wings to stomp them into dust when the 2 play.

I wished I lived close enough to purchase season tickets. <_<

Kinda reminds me when you try and sign free agents on NHL 08 on Xbox 360. They turn down your offer because they feel they won't get quality playing time the with high talent caliber of your roster.

Dear sweet God what a lucky man he is. He has the Cup. He plays for the best team in the NHL and almost any heterosexual male would give a ******** to have his fiance.
-
anyone heard any early rumblings on ticket prices. I know the Blackhawks have put their tickets on presale but the NHL has yet to decide seating layout and prices for Winter Classic.

Dear God please don't let Melrose see the thoughts pertaining to the mullet.

I don't care how much time any player gets. What concerns me is who makes the most of their time regardless of how much or little they get. I will take a guy that gets 6 minutes of ice time and gets a hat trick over a guy playing 18 minutes and getting 1 goal. I think Drapes and guys like that won't mind. I think they have been around enough they know the business. I'm pretty sure Maltby and Draper know that they are nearing time to hang up the skates.

I think you have to be an idiot to put Boston on that list and not Nashville. Don't get me wrong Nashville has good support considering the city they are in but damn Boston. I mean I can see where they are getting overlooked because of every other team in that city winning but damn.

I too agree. I like Thorne calling games.

we're Hockeytown because we had an owner awesome enough to trademark the name. We've won more Stanley Cups than any American based team. Anyone else Pittsburgh included that thinks they are Hockeytown can blow me and the rest of the Red Wings nation. There's way more of us than them so it may take a while.

These have to be season ticket holders that are getting the tickets and trying to sell them. These tickets haven't gone on sale yet. I just talked to my uncle who is a blackhawks fan.

Watching the one's I have, they all seem to be more recent. Knoxville talked about UT and their football and women's basketball. Florida talked about the dual championships, and Kansas talked about the recent men's basketball title.
-
yeah looking at the rest of the winners, I'm just calling bulls*** on this year's ESPYS. ESPN wants to blow any person this year who was great and is showning hints of their old self kinda like Tiger Woods.

Guess I'll have to get my aunt to buy them directly from the Chicago Box Office.

Offseason report card: Champs even stronger
MississippiWing replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
I agree, but I think if we pick up maybe 1 more vet for cheap that really wants a ring then we will win it all and repeat. Desire is a wicked thing. Look how the Cupless vets stepped up in the 2002 playoffs. Hasek still had the talent, but his play was pretty close to damn miraculous. Robatille started slappin in shots like it was nobodys business. I don't mind vets coming to Detroit to grab that last chance at the Cup. They just have to realize this isn't Colorado and we aren't retiring your number because you played 1 season with us. -
Would any of you fine ladies or gentlemen be able to give me a ballpark idea of what kind of ticket prices I may be looking at for the Winter Classic.I know that the cheap seats and regular games at the Joe are going up to $25 this year, so would I be wise in planning to pay $40 a ticket for the Winter Classic?

Official: Wings vs Blackhawks in Winter Classic
MississippiWing replied to NEpats1028's topic in General
I just talked to my aunt who lives in the suburbs of Chicago and I will be going to the game. I would love to meet some fellow members of this board there if they are going. Any early idea of the range of ticket prices? -
+1 off the ice and on the ice business are 2 different things. I don't let a players off ice things affect how I view them on ice.

Wings Petitioning to Have Meech's Name on the Cup

Yeah but I still love my Cheli jersey. -
They make Forsberg retire and he says no no no. Sorry i know it was corny but I hate Amy Whinehouse as much as I hate Forsberg.

Detroit's night is July 17th.

You can stop right there Chief. New Orleans ECHL team had one of the lowest attendances in the league while getting pushed out of New Orleans because they couldn't afford to renovate New Orleans Arena and the Hornets could.

I will say that while Atlanta is outstanding, they have brought an interest in hockey albeit still small but there to a section of the south that didn't care about hockey. Southern newspapers didn't have a hockey section before Atlanta and Nashville unless they had a minor league team. While they aren't amazing I have to respect they way their being placed there has given me more people to talk hockey with down here.
