Lol so I guess you were expecting 20+ goals from Brunner this shortened season. He has kept up fine with the physicality. He hasn't been getting pushed off the puck and has 11 goals in 35 games so far which we would take from any rookie. Oh and I guess Lashoff was supposed to be the second coming of Lids in his rookie season. There was absolutely no reason to expect any more from these two players than they have shown thus far.

Just win. Find a way to get 2 points.

Ilitch is being cheap with the Wings now that the Tigers are good.

When Scherzers contract is up, he will probably get paid more than Sanchez. It's just the nature of the game and it depends when you hit free agency. As everyone has already said here, Illitch isn't going to just throw money at players who don't deserve it just because the Wings aren't right at the cap. They made very competitive offers to Suter and Parise. Going after RFAs is extremely uncommon in the NHL and if you think the Preds weren't going to match an offer by a division rival, you're crazy. -

Yea and Sanchez had a great post season. The Tigers have a great rotation. That's like saying the Wings can't have anyone who makes more than 2 mil on their third or fourth lines. If we had 4 great centers, one of them would probably be a highly paid 4th liner. Nothing wrong with that. -

It's no denying Illitch would rather have a world series ring versus one or two more stanley cup rings but to say he is spending money on the Tigers that could otherwise be spent on the Wings probably isn't true. There is no cap in baseball so he treats them like he used to treat the Wings. He has to be more careful about his spending with the Wings and pick his purchases a lot more wisely. Even if it isn't actually him making the decisions on who to sign, he still signs the checks. So I don't agree with you saying Mr. I is being cheap with the Wings. He is just dying for a world series ring... no pun intended. -
I don't see the Rangers moving Gaborik before the season ends. With them battling for a playoff position I just don't see them making any major moves until the off season. I would be all for Kenny making a trade for him but I think the asking price would be too high and they would want draft picks we can't afford to give up this year. Pominville or Vanek seem like more realistic options for us right now.

Getting out of bed. -
Wow what a shame. I feel for his family and the player who gave the hit. You know he won't be the same if he is still allowed to play.

I called the loss... I just didn't think they had it in them to keep up the consistency. Hopefully they can get back in the W column these next two games at home. -

I would be surprised if the Wings win this one. They could but I think they are due for a let down and I'm still not convinced this team is playing consistently well yet. No prediction today but I don't think we will win. Hopefully Jimmy keeps his wall up and they prove me wrong. -
I don't think most are hatting on Jonas. It's just tough for any goaltender to play so inconsistently especially because of injury problems and come in and play very well once in a blue moon. He has the skills but the team is going to have to play tighter defense in front of him or just get a comfortable lead so he can play with more confidence.

Huge win. They just need to work on consistency now and show up with the same effort tomorrow. -

Awesome GDT. They might just win because of how awesome it is. 4-3 Wings. -
I read the whole thread. It's only one page. I get what you're saying but you're implying goalies try to shoot the puck into the net on a regular basis. If there was an empty net and the goalies objective was to score a goal (say it's practice or something) and the other teams objective was to not let the puck be put into their own empty net, the goalie would score more so by shooting the puck into the empty net versus the other team making a bad pass that ends up in their net. Just because something happens more often than the other scenario doesn't make it "less lucky" when the circumstances are not a constant.
-
That makes no sense. You are misusing the word lucky. It's lucky to have the other team throw the puck into their own net versus you actually taking the shot at an empty net. The reason more goalies are credited with goals that go in like this one last night is because most goalies don't try and take that shot. You mean to say it's less probable for a goalie to score by shooting the puck versus touching it last and having the other team put it in their own net. Not "statistically lucky" which is basically an oxymoron.

Whenever I feel good about a game, we usually lose and I feel good about tonight's game coming off a decent road trip and 3 days rest so we shall see. 3-1 Wings. Pav, Joakim, Flip

Is Kindl really a +14? Wow.

GDT 3/3 GDT : Blackhawks 2 at Red Wings 1 (SO)

I'll be able to see a period or so before I head to the airport with my girlfriend. I hope I can start my vacation on a great note with a win especially because I have a 3 hour layover in Chicago on the way to Florida. I'll be sure to wear a Wings t shirt underneath my jacket and if they win, I'll take the jacket off in Chicago lol. -
Thanks, It's supposed to be in the 60s tomorrow and then Monday but mid to high 70's the rest of the week so I think we will luck out with the weather.
-
We should have won the first time we played them. If a determined Wings team shows up, we should win again. The Blackhawks have gotten more than their fair share of good bounces even if they are playing well. I can't wait. I will only get to see the first period or so because I have a flight at 3:30 heading to Florida with my girlfriend. I will be updating my phone non-stop in the airport so hopefully I can start the trip out on a good note.

I called it. Monster was going to play great tonight. The wings needed this win more than Tyrone Biggums needs crack. -

This is pretty much a must win and I hope the Wings play like it is. I think Monster is going to have a great game but it won't matter if the rest of the team doesn't show up. -
The game was totally jobbed by the refs but this happens everywhere across the league in every game. Not much you can do about it other than bury a couple more of our chances and not let the refs decide the game. Tomorrow isn't going to be any easier either because San Jose will be looking for a win desperately.

I smell a loss but I will be optimistic and say 4-2 wings.

Lol at the USA chants at the end of the game. This team man... I have no idea. Play very well against the good teams, crap the bed against the bottom feeders. It's going to be quite the roller coaster ride down the stretch.
