Dispelling some myths: the Pittsburgh Penguins
Pensfan replied to betterREDthandead's topic in General
And this line has seen all different kinds of "defenseman" this season. The fact still remains that the Pens second line has had more goals this season then Detroits top line. How does Detroits third line have an advantage? -
Dispelling some myths: the Pittsburgh Penguins

The fact of the matter is, this has been the Penguins best line all regular season and all playoff run. I doubt Detroits "third line" is going to slow down / stop one of the best, if not the best, lines this entire season. Malkin - 47 goals , 59 assists , 106 points Sykora - 28 goals , 35 assists , 63 points Malone - 27 goals , 24 assists , 51 points If you honestly think your third line is going to have an "advantage", you're seeing something that I don't. -

Please knock this s*** off. The Pens had an easier playoff run then the Wings, simple as that. You seem lost here, let me guide you home. Click here. -
Who has Datsyuk played with? Who has Zetterberg played with? Who has Crosby played with before Hossa? Who has Ovechkin played with? That's why they're the top two players. /endthread

Ah yes, the forum of the collection of idiots that were banned from the official board. Don't even try and talk logic there.
-
Stay off the Rangers boards.

Dupuis - Crosby - Hossa Malone - Malkin - Sykora Kennedy - Staal - Ruutu Laraque - Talbot - Hall (Roberts) Gonchar - Orpik Whitney - Letang (Scuderi) Gill - Scuderi (Letang) Kennedy and Talbot get switched around sometimes during the game. Sometimes you'll even see Laraque with Malkin and Staal. Therrien usually starts with this and then there's no telling.

Definitely. With the Penguins going further and further into uncharted territory, you need somebody on the bench (and in the locker room) who knows what it takes to win. The Penguins are definitely unexperienced compared to the Red wings, but I'm still holding onto the young "we have something to prove" philosophy.

Tell me about it. He's out with pneumonia right now. He's only played 6 games this playoff run (2g-1a on the 4th line), but rumor has it he'll be ready if not for game one, but game two.

15-12-2 before Fleury went down. I really don't know where they were in the standings at the time though. I'm sure you could make an educated guess with their record at the time.

1. Sidney Crosby (Can't forget the 120 point season last year. He'd have a repeat if it wasn't for the injury.) 2. Alex Ovechkin (The guy can score, no doubt about it.) 3. Evgeni Malkin (He was second in the league in scoring with 106 points and 47 goals.) 4. Nicholas Lindstrom (Doesn't need explained.) 5. Henrik Zetterberg (Close to Malkin, 92 points and 43 goals.) 6. Pavel Datsyuk 7. Martin Brodeur (He should always be mentioned in the top 10.) 8. Illya Kovalchuck 9. Jerome Iginla 10. Roberto Luongo Maybe a little Pens bias, but they do have the stats to prove it. I think Malkin will turn out to be the best player in the league down the road though. If he didn't have to share ice with Crosby (unlike Ovechkin), he'd beat out Ovechkin every season.

Who gets their hockey news from ESPN? Interesting stat, take it for what it's worth. Penguins record vs. the Western Conference this year: 8-1-1 Pens vs. Ducks : 5-4 W Pens vs. Avalanche : 2-3 L Pens vs. Wild : 4-2 W Pens vs. Stars : 4-1 W Pens vs. Coyotes : 3-1 W Pens vs. Oilers : 4-2 W Pens vs. Flames : 3-2 W Pens vs. Canucks : 2-1 W Pens vs. Kings : 4-2 W Pens vs. Sharks : 2-1 SO L

As a Pens fan, I think the greatest problem of stopping the Penguins thus far has been being able to shut down both lines. Most teams have a dominate top line, the Penguins have two. When Crosby's line is being focused on and shut down, Malkin's line shines and vise versa. Dupuis - Crosby - Hossa Malone - Malkin - Sykora If Detroit is to win the cup, they've got to find a way to respect both as top lines and find a way to shut both of them down.

Good game Wings. Were Dallas fans chanting lets go Pens at the end of the game?
-
They definitely dominated the game. I think that's one good thing about having a young team/players, they always feel like they have something to prove.
-
Hurry up and knock Dallas out so we can get the finals started.

Good luck today! Hurry up and beat Dallas so my team doesn't have to sit around. They have been rusty every first game in every series due to it.

You underestimate the determinations of Flyers trolls. We discussed the playoffs fine with Ottawa and Rangers fans, but Philly still has a problem with civilization.

Write something up and I'll post it over there.
