I'm not really looking at the shot stats. Maybe I'm just frustrated, but it seems like the Pens have way more quality chances and the Wings are making more mistakes, but the Wings are better at taking advantage of their fewer chances.

This series is defined by the Pens needing far more chances than the Wings because Detroit finishes better. The Pens will need to continue to make fewer mistakes and generate a lot of chances to win this in 7. My money would still be on Detroit, but all of my heart goes the other way. Great series now.

Best message board in sports. The officiating was atrocious tonight (both ways), yet even the "McCreary" thread has no legs. Any other board would be 90% "refs suck" if their team had lost. Even the Pens board is complaining about it tonight. Kudos.

Don't think it hasn't already started on the Pens' boards, and you haven't even closed out your series yet. We each have our share of idiots. -

Who sucks worse - the #8 seeds in those years or the top 7 that couldn't close them out when it mattered? -

I don't know man. A huge reason the Pens have made it this far is the 3rd line's puck possession in the offensive zone. -

Not looking to troll. But assimilate? Not interested. I will say that this is the only opponent board I ever post on because of the (relative) class and (usually) intelligent hockey discussion. Is that a little better? -

YOU try matching up against the opponent's #1 line every shift while trying to score with Matt Cooke and Tyler Kennedy on your wing. I thought you guys knew more about hockey than reading a box score. -

Feel free to lose the next 2 in triple OT first. -
Gotta hand it to Wings fans. A loss like this creates a complete meltdown on the Pens board. Where's the calling for the coach's head? Where's the bashing of the refs? Where's the "Cindy Crosby is such a freakin' whiner!"? You guys beat us for the Cup, steal Hossa, and still make it impossible to hate you. So glad you're in the West.

Congrats Wings.

Getting a little nervous, Detroit fans?

I can't speak for the others but, personally, I was curled up in a ball with a bottle of scotch. Frankly, I think the thread topic is pretty ridiculous. I would never say Detroit sucks because, if we're lucky enough to pull this s*** out, I want to be able to say we beat one of the best teams ever put together. Having said all that, blow yourself. -

Agreed, but you're also one of the few people here that get my point aren't you? The 5 games already in the books have no bearing on tonight. It's one game at a time. -

Can't speak for Geno and no one really knows what's wrong with him right now (we'll find out after the series), but what does it say that we're at home with a chance to get a Game 7 with our team MVP being invisible the entire series? And by the way, this series aside, Malkin is very strong defensively and probably our best penalty killer when used. -

You would too if you were playing without your top D-man that usually gets iron man minutes. I guess it only mattered that our goalie was still fresh, huh? -

You have past tense down pretty good, but games 1-5 are now completely irrelevant and it has nothing to do with grammar. I hope the Wings players also can't let go of the last game because I know the Pens are focused on the only game that matters right now - tonight's. -

Yes. Your words, not mine. But I have Monday night's game on DVD if you'd like a demonstration. Unfortunately, I missed the footage of the Wings trying to put all those corks back in the champage bottles. I heard a lot of practice time was wasted today trying to figure out how to do that. -

If I were a betting man I would probably take any odds that the Pens would win the last game, seeing as how the GAME IS OVER. I understand english + math might be a bit of a challenge to a Wings fan, but "the Pens need to win 3 in a row" is a sentence in the "present tense." [Now follow me here because we're adding the math part] Since there are only 2 games left in the season and we are, indeed, in the present, it follows that the Pens need to win exactly 2 games in a row to win the Cup. Of course after tonight it will be one, but I don't want to overload your pea brain with "future tense". -
Pretty cool pic, but you can't see the locker room staff in the background trying to re-cork all those champagne bottles.

Good luck and don't EVER give up. -
Gimme a break guys. Helm stuck his leg directly into Dupuis' path trying to hold the line. Dupuis has no obligation to try to avoid it because he is trying to make a play and shouldn't have to slow down or change direction. That's even assuming he COULD have avoided it. It happened very quickly and it was Helm's choice to put his own knee in harm's way.
