sorry for my mistake on the norris gonchar nomination.......... stuart is not better than orpik...... but my opinion does not really matter...... i do have a question though. how DID you guys lose any games this year? :-) -

you have now lost all credibility.......... we lost a one goal game (i dont count the empty net)to philly and don cherry says we threw the game so you buy it!! you can tell we were terrified of philly from the way they werent even a speed bump in the ecf...... orpik isnt very good but you would take him on your team????? ............ come back later with some intelligent stuff and maybe we can talk again. -

well lets start with the premise that you cant suck lemons and be in the scf. no they do not do everything well........ not a good face off team. i merely meant that they CAN play wide open hockey with anyone and have shown that they can play tight defense as well -

let me combine my two fellow pittsburgher's thoughts....... the pens have proven (thus far) in the playoffs that they can play any way you want to play it........... 6-5 or 2-1, i guess they have been good at exploiting what has been given. -

PLEASE........ i think most of the pens posts have been pretty tame. to hear you mo-towners talk , no one deserves to be on the same ice as you. you will not find me talking smack...... you clearly have history on your side........ i look it as a passing of the torch....... -

have not seen anyone write that yet, but now that you mention it......... i see crosbly as more of a moses figure, not god himself and perhaps malkin could be like an arch bishop....say what you want, they are freakin 19 and 20 and play the game pretty well -

wow, you offend easily ha ha......... how dare that mean penguin guy question my mighty redwings :-) fleury had the better save percentage.......osgood better gaa....... so at best, i might allow a wash. i hope you continue to underestimate brooks orpik. i also hope malkin is done with the blind passes. (got me on that one).....you did not deserve ottawa in the playoffs, you got to play st louis columbus and las angeles ALL YEAR......... -

DISPELLING THE MYTH OF MYTHS #1..... you cannot say sample size is too small to fit your liking. 25% in playoffs is 25% in playoffs. if the wings take stupid penalties, they will pay. #2...... wings have the edge in defense. cannot argue with you there. whitney will own the norris trophy for the next decade, gonchar is a candidate this year. you certainly have better offensive defensemen but you have no one as "stay home, hard hitting" as orpik. you have not faced as aggressive a forecheck as the pens. as i think we are the more offensively deep team, look for some of your "elder" defensemen to be a little slow come the third period. #3....... hossa played a fraction of the season on a good team. HE IS AS GOOD A BACKCHECKER AS THERE IS IN THE GAME. if he had played the whole season as a pen, he would be up for the award as well. every player has a role, and crosby and malkings role is not to kill penalties. if you have watched any of our series you know that crosby can play defense with any forward out there. #4......... youth vs experience. our entire season was filled with adversity losing crosby and fleury..... they held up just fine...... youth does not care that drake is 39 and chelios is 62, they are full of ignorance and cockiness that comes with youth........ but drake and chelios will certainly feel their age as games and the series go forward. #5......... fleury is the better goalie based on agility and skill. correct he has not seen the rubber detroit will throw but FLEURY CAN STEAL A GAME FOR THE PENS, where osgood cannot. (in my humble opinion of course) #6...... the sun will rise, you will pay taxes, and the pens will be outshot....... such is the way of the world...... but our goals per shot percentage is lights out ....... if they DO throw pucks at the net like they should..... osgood will be replace by hasek in short order....... should be one heck of a series........ cant wait to watch it............. good luck -
pylons that have the best team g.a.a in the playoffs but keep underestimating them........ we love that
-
all of us in pgh are saddened by your feelings. good luck in the finals !
-
throw career stats out the window....... gonchar had to play most of his career in washington...... so its not a fair comparison ha ha. the man quarterbacks a lethel power play though. i would like him to be more physical but its to late to change that i guess
-
just want to make sure i got this right. the second leading scorer among defensemen with a plus minus of +13, would be the number 4 dman on your team?
-
by himself?????? at least watch the pens before making assertions ha ha.......... EIGHT different pens with game winning goals this post season....... its all about depth baby......... will be fun to watch
-
not sure how much you ACTUALLY watched the pens this season, but as someone who has watched nearly EVERY game, i assure you NEITHER crosby or malkin throw hissy fits when hit or held off the scoreboard....... crosby had 39 penalty minutes this season to malkins 78.......... does not sound like to much sin bin time to me
-
gary roberts had a mild case of pneumonia
-
our weak defense has a lower goals against team average than the wings....... check your stats before calling them weak ha ha......... good luck in finals...... should be a blast to watch
-
with all due respect my mo-town friend, expose what? we have a lower goals against team average than you :-).. i think our defense will be just fine....... but what worries me is HOW FAST your defense gets to the puck holder in your own end. you guys really smother fast. dallas was clueless last night. should be a great series to watch
