As someone who just started watching this game 10 minutes ago... how the hell are we losing?! Its like the Wings are playing against a HS hockey team.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I can't believe Winnipeg is going to be in the Southeast for another year.

Getzlaf would fit SO WELL on this team. Great passer, right handed shooter playing the left circle on the PP, good playoff performer. We'd have to give up more than Franzen and Kindl however. We're talking like Franzen or a 1st round pick, Nyquist and Tatar or something in that ballpark. The Ducks are rebuilding and are going to want good young talent. Franzen is in his 30's and is not really what they'd be looking for.

When I saw it, I thought it was a dig at Jagr, who did his old salute celebration just a few days ago in Pittsburgh when he scored on Rupp's former teammates.

At this point in the season, I'm not too worried about it. As long as he gets some rest in March and isn't playing every game, he'll be fine for the playoffs.

Absolutely. Even though it wasn't last night, the defense is the best it has been in the past few years and Howard is having a great year. Plenty of depth, good defense, good goalie, Datsyuk playing out of his mind on almost every night, lots to be optimistic about.

Very cool story. Yeah, there are good hockey fans in Pittsburgh for sure, but the idiots are loud and outnumber the smart ones and that makes the fan base as a whole look bad. I had a brick thrown through my car door window after the Wings won the Cup in 2008. I'm not really the type of person to rub things in either, but apparently letting people know you're a Wings fan by wearing their jersey in public during the playoffs is frowned upon. lol

THIS is exactly why I watched the game on the internet with the Fox Sports Detroit feed, instead of watching it on my TV and having to listen to the idiot Penguin announcers. Yeah, the Steelers are still my favorite football team and will continue to be unless they play the Red Wings in the Super Bowl.

That's the thing with Pens fans. This team is incapable losing when Crosby is out. If they win, they did without Crosby, look how great they are. If they lose, well Crosby was out otherwise they would have won.

I do. I drive past Consol everyday. It's actually a nice place to live, but the bandwagon idiots that know next to nothing about hockey make it rough everytime these two play. I got into an argument on the subway with someone who was trying to tell me that Jordan Staal was the third best player in hockey, thus being way better than anyone on "my" Wings. Ugh

Great win! Datsyuk was amazing, Howard was a wall and Conner played like he was possessed. Really wish he could've gotten a goal, but oh well. Now I just have to put up with everyone's dirty looks lol

The media coverage of Crosby is overkill without a doubt, but it really doesn't bother me as much as his on ice conduct. I don't like the sneaky little cheap shots he throws and then complains when he gets hit back. I don't like the way he went after Z after Game 4 in the '08 Finals or the cheap shots during the '09 Finals. I think that's garbage. He's amazingly talented, you can't deny that, but he acts like a jerk on the ice.

You're not betraying your team buy getting merchandise of another team. However, I will say this, you never know who the Wings next rival will be. I used to own a ton of Pens merchandise, then 2008 came and I had to sell all that crap and you're not getting as much for it as you paid to get it. I also bought Caps and Hurricanes jerseys a couple years before the Wings met them in the Finals too and had to sell that. If you buy Wings merchandise, you definitely won't regret it later on.

That is correct. We could play the Pens in the semifinals and the Sharks in the Finals. This also means, we'll never play anyone in our conference beyond the 2nd round.

Not my perfect realignment, but it knocks out some of my concerns. No more flying back and forth across the country several times playing the Coyotes and Sharks in the first two rounds. No more 10:30pm start times for playoff games. No more crossing my fingers and hoping the Wings play in Pittsburgh every year, as they're guaranteed a game here every season now. I don't like the fact that its the top 4 teams of each conference, so you'll have teams with better records not making the playoffs. Kind of like the old Patrick division where two teams were battling for one spot, while in the Adams division, which ever team sucked less (Quebec or Hartford) got forced into the playoffs. I wonder if they'll go with Adams, Norris, Patrick and Smythe? Or maybe Howe for our division, Lemieux for the Pens division, Gretzky for the Oilers/Kings division and Orr for the Bruins division. I would say they'll just go with geographic location conference names, but Tampa Bay and Florida in the Northeast seems silly. I agree. The uncertainty around Phoenix and where they'll be in the near future is the reason for this type of alignment. Not to mention, who knows about the Isles and the Panthers as we could easily see those franchises moving within the next few years.

The first time I saw this, I thought "Wow! What an ass?! But that's Tootoo for ya". Then I saw the replay a bunch of times... I don't know. He is a cheap and dirty player, but there is some reasonable doubt. He was driving to the net, he tries to move to the front, but Erhoff blocks him prevents him from getting in front of the net, Tootoo is too close to skate behind the net at this point and runs into Miller. He actually tucks his elbow in before contact. People make a big deal about his "jumping". If he doesn't jump and Tootoo holds that position, he slams right into Miller knocking him straight backwards, which I think would have been far more violent of a collision. I think, Tootoo meant to run into Miller in some way during this game to agitate him, but had no intent to injure.

Crosby is exactly like Peter Forsberg. Offensive minded, excellent passer and playmaker, team leader, takes cheap shots at his opponent and then whines to the ref when the guy hits him back.

Depending on how well Phoenix does, I could very easily see Doan coming here and making a big impact during the playoffs. If not him, I could see Daniel Alfredsson coming to Detroit. He's in the next to last year of his contract, but I think this will be it for him and if they win the Cup it'll definitely be it for him. He would fit in with the other Swedes, he's a much needed right handed shot and his leadership and drive could help motivate others. He would bring just as much as Doan.

The Penguins needed to get rid of Therrien before they could take the next step. The Flyers got rid of Stevens. Boudreau was long overdue IMO. All that talent and they can't even make it to the Conference Finals? The Caps outgrew him awhile ago. Now its time for them to take the next step, for real. I'll be really interested to see how Ovie and Semin play now.

It was dirty. Its hypocritical. Its Crosby. Not surprising. I'm sure he'll do a few more things like this before the season's done.
