So their will be 90% of the regular season left in a couple games. Slight adjustments are fine, like moving Helm to the top line for a couple shifts. However, trading Hudler and moving Modano to the 4th line, will completely change the third line. Those are a little more than "slight moves". Oh right, Hudler didn't play in an NHL game for 1.5 years, not 2. My bad. lol

I know the feeling. I get "You live in Pittsburgh. You should cheer for the Penguins!". Just because you're born somewhere doesn't mean you have to cheer for that team. I always use the analogy, "Would you rather marry someone that was picked out for you or marry someone you fell in love with?" I fell in love with this franchise 23 years ago. I love the players, the tradition, the arena, the uniforms, the goal horn, etc. Sure the winning helps, but there's a ton to love about the Wings, which is why I believe they have so many fans around the world.

Let's remember its still October guys. Lots of time to make corrections. Those corrections do not include trading Hudler or moving Modano to the 4th line. Mo still has his speed and a cannon shot. Hudler hasn't been in the NHL for a couple years. Cleary hasn't been great either, but he always gets off to slow starts. Way too early to talk about breaking up the third line. Most likely not, but I do like the idea of putting someone else with Z and D. I saw Helm play a couple shifts with them and looked good. I'd be really interested to see what that top line looks like without Homer.

Exactly. Its not the act of shoving or how much damage was done to the fan. Its the fact that a player reached into the stands with intent to cause harm. Under no circumstances should a player even think about touching a fan.

Ovechkin - Backstrom - Green would be pretty incredible IMO
-
Its better that he gets this injury stuff out of the way in October

Really? That was an all star team and I don't think we'll ever see a team in the salary cap era stacked like that. This Wings team is good, but no one will ever touch the '02 team. That was the only year I wasn't yelling at the TV non-stop during the playoffs. I knew no one out there was good enough to beat them 4 times in 7 games.

I'm not sure why they would boo him. Its not like he left, the Stars front office said they didn't want him back. He didn't have a choice. If they're going to boo someone, boo the GM.

10/12 GDT: Avalanche 5 at Red Wings 4 (SO)

Not a great game for Howie. He looked good up until he gave up that second goal and then he really started to struggle. Oh well, if he can have a bad game and we still get a point, that's cool with me. -
10/3 Pre-season GDT: Pittsburgh Penguins at Red Wings

Kunitz wears a Penguins logo on his chest, nothing will happen. Just ask Orpik and Cooke. -
Western Conference champs for 2 of the last 3 years and now we're 4th in the division I seriously laughed out loud when I saw the Blues and Predators ahead of us.

Lets not forget the Center Ice commercials during the '09 season where it shows all these clips of the Pens scoring on Osgood. Like they kept showing that first Crosby goal in Game 3 and I was like, "Yay! first goal in 3 games! <roll eyes> Who won that series anyways?" Plus the fact that NHL Network plays "2009 Game 7" and "Penguins 2009 season review" over and over and over and over and... well you get the idea. I always laugh when Pens fans talk as if 2008 never happened. Like the two teams went back in time and replayed the series. lol I can see why they think that though with the way the media is.

9/24 Pre-season GDT: Chicago Blackhawks at Red Wings

He's a 40 year old player, in his 20th season and you're complaining about his performance in a pre-season game? We have a LONG way to go, he doesn't need to be burning himself out in a stupid pre-season game. -
Pre-Season 9/22 GDT: Red Wings at Pittsburgh Penguins

Typical Pens fan mentality. This franchise and its fans are getting to be as bad as the other PA team and its fan base. Makes sense though, the GM is the son of Fred Shero, the guy that coached the Flyers when they were the Broad Street Bullies in the mid 70's. -
That is the most annoying song ever. I remember the first time I heard it and thought "Wow! That's a dumb song", then the Hawks scored again and I'm like "Seriously?? After every goal?" If I was a Hawks fan, I'd have to watch every home game with the sound off.

You know what's funny, I have my audio off (at work) and I thought that was Lidstrom that scored the first goal. It looked just like him. Hopefully that trend will continue. Yeah, I have a feeling I'm going to be annoyed by him again this year.

Is there a roster list with the numbers? I can't figure out who 39 on white is. Mursak?

I used the hate the Ducks, but with Pronger and Niedermayer gone, there's not as much to hate. I actually used to like the Pens as my second favorites with Lemieux, Jagr and Francis, but this "new generation" annoys the crap out of me. People around me say that I don't like the Pens because they beat my Red Wings, but the truth is regardless of the outcome of that series, I would not like the Pens today. The crap they pulled in Game 5 was disgusting. It showed very poor sportsmanship. I had high hopes for Crosby when he first entered the league. He idolized Yzerman and was living with Lemieux, my two favorite players and he doesn't act like either of them. So I hate the Pens, for now. At least until all these dbags leave the team.

Will Pens fans burn their Guerin jerseys and t-shirts and boo him every time he touches the puck like they did with Hossa?
-
Yeah, I'm confused by this too. The deal the NHL rejected isn't that much different from the one that they agreed to. Now they're getting fined and losing draft picks? At least it wasn't $3 mil in cap space.

I'm not a Lions fan, but when I saw the highlights of that game and that CJ catch was called incomplete, I almost lost it. He caught it, came down with both feet and then hit the ground. Play over. Then the ball came loose. It didn't come loose in the process of making the catch, the catch had already been made. How much longer is he supposed to hold onto the ball until its considered a catch? There was a similar play to this last year with Hines Ward. He caught it in the corner of the end zone running, fell down and rolled with the ball out of bounds and when he got up to his feet, he dropped it and they said incomplete pass. Nobody made a big deal about it because it was a blowout game against the Browns and it didn't matter. This crap call affected the outcome of the game.

LMAO! Chicago's light years ahead of the Wings, yet the Wings were 3-2-1 against the Hawks last year. We don't need luck beating the "new power of the NHL", we've been doing it for years and will continue to do so for many more. Enjoy second place.

Wow, are you in for a rude awakening when this "significantly better" defense does about as good as it did last year. Gonchar missed 20 games last year and was 2nd in powerplay assists. While he was with the Pens, he was consistently near the top for powerplay points in the league. Now he's going to be replaced by a guy that never got more than 37 points in a season? As for his defense... if you hated the way Ryan Whitney played defense, and most Pens fans did, you're not going to be too big on Martin either. I'm not really "knocking the Pens", I just think Shero made a mistake this offseason. The Pens blew $9 mil and have pretty much the same defense as last year talent wise and still don't have any good wingers for their two franchise centers. Yeah, Staal's moving up, but that takes away from their depth, which is important when you want to have a long playoff run. You're right about one thing, its not the same Wings team it was three years ago, its better. Ummm, me and anyone that isn't a Pens homer would argue this. lol Look, I'm glad you have a lot of confidence in your team and you're looking forward to the season and all, but you're going way overboard. I'll take an aging Rafalski and Lidstrom over anyone Pittsburgh has anyday.
-
Just because they spent a lot of money on defense, doesn't mean they'll be better. I don't see Michalek being any better than Scuderi or Eaton. Martin is NOT as good as Gonchar offensively and about the same defensively. So where's the upgrade? They would have been much better off getting Volchenkov and Hamhuis. Each cost $4.5 mil, so $9 mil for those two. The exact same amount they paid for Martin and Michalek. Kunitz is a 50 point player when healthy. Not exactly what you want on your top line. The Pens won't win their division, much less the freakin Presidents Trophy.
