WCQF Game 4 GDT: Coyotes 0 at Red Wings 3
xtrememachine1 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Its always somebody isn't it? One year its Datsyuk, another year its Hossa, this year its Franzen... can't everybody just play great all the time -
Numbers wise, Datsyuk should win it, but it'll probably go to Bettman's favorites and Staal will get it.
-
Abso-freaking-lutley We'll win the next one because we have to. Game 5 because we're better and Game 6 because this team learned how much it sucks not to put an opponent away at home.
-
I'm so glad we won, but on the downside, my power was out and it literally just came back the within a minute of the game ending. Hearing it was the "Game of the year" makes me want to punch someone.

Maybe you didn't see this part... Crosby needs Malkin in order to be successful. If Malkin isn't there, Crosby is invisible. How can Crosby win an award as being the most valuable player when he's not the most valuable player to his team?
-
Hate the sport? I dislike Crosby because he's Mr Good Guy when everything's going his way and he's a whiny little punk when things aren't going his way. He matched Ovechkin in points, has just one more goal while playing in 9 more games. As for importance to the team, the Capitals don't win the Presidents trophy without Ovechkin. They would probably be 4th or 5th best team in the conference... maybe. As for Crosby's importance, when he got injured a couple years ago and Malkin was the top gun, he almost carried the team to the 1st seed in the East. Earlier this year Malkin missed 7 games, during that time Crosby scored zero goals, had 3 assists, and was a -5. You tell me who's more important to the team. Seems like they miss Malkin a hell of a lot more when he's gone than Crosby.

This The thing with the Hart Trophy is that its a popularity contest. Ovie could have more goals, points, assists, better plus minus, win the Presidents trophy and do it in less games and they would STILL give it to Crosby because he "scored the gold medal winning goal" or because Ovie's won it too many times already. Crap like this already happened. Check out 88-89, when the Ovie of the 80's, Mario Lemieux, had more goals, tied for most assists, a much better plus/minus (41 to 15), and finished with 31 more points than the 80's version of Crosby, Wayne Gretzky. Mario won the Art Ross and Gretzky won the Hart. What did Gretzky do in that season? He got traded and married. Hart Trophy = NHL Popularity contest

Congrats on winning the division Chicago! Now you get pain in the ass Nashville for the first round LOL
-
Those aren't the only similarities either... Both lost in the Finals after winning the Winter Classic Both lost Hossa and Conklin less than a month after losing the Cup Both started their seasons in Sweden Both lost a major contributor in October and didn't get him back till March (Gonchar and Franzen) At this rate, we'll be playing against a much better team in June, but their injuries will prevent them from blowing us out of the water and we'll win the Cup with very little contributions from Z or Dats.
-
I know a lot of people on this board hate the Pens, but I would rather see them get to the Finals again, so we can stomp a mudhole in them and retake the Cup.
-
THANK YOU! I'm glad I'm not the only one that sees this.

Pucks don't change direction in mid air by themselves. I was watching the game too and they showed it like 100 times and in every replay, it changes direction when it gets to Guerin.
-
1. Alexander Ovechkin 2. Zach Parise 3. Marian Gaborik 4. Ryan Getzlaf 5. Mike Richards
-
The puck clearly hit Guerin before going in. I couldn't believe they announced it as Crosby's 50th. They must have just did that for the fans. As for "class act" Crosby, he needs to stop taking cheap shots at opposing players.

I love Nick, but haven't we heard this before? "If we lose Fedorov, we're screwed" "If we lose Bowman, we're screwed" "If we lose Yzerman, we're screwed" Nick is one of the greatest defenseman of all time, but we'll survive without him. It won't be easy at first, but we'll be fine. Kronwall will step it up (I honestly think he'll be the next Scott Stevens), we still have Raffy, Ericsson is just having a sophomore slump and I'm sure we'll get someone through FA over the next couple years. Lids will be missed A LOT, but its not the end of the world. As long as the Wings continue to play this system and fill the roster with smart two way players, we'll be successful.

Oh man, not these all over again. Wear the white jersey for road games, the red one for home games and the black one or Winter Classic for elimination games. My son can't go to bed unless they're winning. I have to stand during intermissions and I can NEVER eat nachos or wear any of my championship Wings T-shirts from prior years. I'm sure I'll develop new ones this year.
-
Well this IS a Wings message board. Sooooo yeah...
-
It won't matter to us or them after the Hawks get bounced in the first round.
-
Nah. The hockey gods appear to be on our side right now. Franzen could probably get shot with a gun right now and be fine for the next game.
-
What I don't understand is someone had to approve this picture. Did they look at it and think, "You know, he DOES kind of look a little like a pig. APPROVED!" Maybe the Hawks should trade for Tyler Kennedy. At least then they'll at least have SOMEONE that looks like a pig.
-
I was hoping someone would post this. THIS is the number one reason why I want Huds back.
-
This post seriously made me spit my drink out of my mouth. lol
-
I would not want to play Nashville or Vancouver in these playoffs. I have this feeling that it'll be the Hawks and Wings in the first round.
-
This is just a rumor right now. None of the papers here have said this is true yet. This all started when a Pittsburgh news reporter speculated about a Pens-Caps Winter Classic at PNC Park and other media outlets took this and ran with it. The Steelers could potentially have a home game on January 2nd and if that's the case, they probably wouldn't be able to do both on the same weekend.

I'm looking at NHL jerseys on eBay and the prices are insanely low. Some of these jerseys would go for well over $100 on NHL.com, but on eBay they're like $40-60. What is the deal with this? Is this too good to be true? Has anyone ever bought a jersey on eBay? I saw an authentic Ovechkin jersey with the captain "C" not get bid on 4 times priced at $49.99 http://myworld.ebay.com/sprintnownetwork/
