Passing it to Bertuzzi should count as a giveaway in this game... he's been brutal -
My brother got me a Zetterberg Winter Classic jersey for my birthday last year and he said he got it on eBay at a good price. The jersey must be a "knockoff" if its cheap, but I really like it and the lettering is probably the only difference between the authentic ones and the knockoffs. Really it comes down to personal preference I guess. To me, as long its not like orange lettering on a Wings jersey, its fine. I would have a hard time spending $160 for an authentic jersey when I could spend just $50 for a jersey with a slight difference on the lettering. I just wanted to check with you guys that if I ordered off eBay, I would basically be protected from blowing $50 and getting crap (aka a cardboard box with old Chinese newspapers inside) in return. Although I'm hearing good things about DHGate too and their prices are even better. Thanks for the feedback guys!

I almost got suckered into buying jersey's like these cheap on a Chinese website, but I've heard stories about ordering a jersey and getting a box of crappy polo shirts. I would think eBay would be safer right? Couldn't they get into trouble for showing one thing and then when you buy it, send something that looks different? I see a lot of people with these authentic jerseys walking around town, like Tyler Kennedy and Mike Rupp and I'm thinking to myself, "Did they seriously pay $160 for a Rupp jersey?" Then I saw these jerseys priced so low, so I figured, this has to be how they're getting them. If the letter font is a little off, I don't care. As long as the lettering isn't a disaster, I could live with it. It beats paying over $150.

I don't know if anyone else posted this, but I love this quote by Z: Crosby’s frustration level seemed to reach a boiling point in the final seconds, leading to him cross-checking Zetterberg in the back in front of Detroit goaltender Jimmy Howard(notes). “I knew it was him without turning around,” Zetterberg said. With the last two nailing biting games fresh in our minds, does anyone else get the feeling that the Red Wings appear to be some sort of "team of destiny" right now? Rafalski scores with 0.2 seconds left, giving us a point. A Canucks player stick breaks, allowing Zetterberg to go in and score the winning goal with 0.1 seconds left. Its rare to see goals scored in the final second, let alone in two straight games. I saw a ton of Penguins games last season and I remember they got a ton of weird breaks like this around this time last year and it actually propelled them up to the 4th seed after starting March as the 10th seed. I'm not saying the Wings are going to win the Cup because of this, but the hockey gods seem to be helping the Wings out right now. That much is undeniable.

1. Steve Yzerman (My son's middle name is Yzerman) 2. Henrik Zetterberg (Next great Wings captain) 3. Nicklas Lidstrom (the ultimate good guy) 4. Chris Osgood 5. Sergei Fedorov (When he wanted to win, he was unstoppable) 6. Brendan Shanahan 7. Curtis Joseph (Never got a fair chance in Detroit) 8. Paul Coffey (Took his defensive game to a new level with the Wings) 9. Luc Robitalle 10. Marian Hossa (Yeah I know, but if the Wings win Game 7, I would have gotten a Hossa jersey with the Stanley Cup patch to wear around Pittsburgh)

I think this has a great chance to be the quote of the year. -
http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/vancouver...cket/ice_hockey This is a dream scenario for the US. Canada, Russia and Sweden will all have to play each other on their half of the bracket. The Canadians will have to beat Germany, Russia and Sweden just to get to the Gold Medal round... that's rough. After struggling against Switzerland and losing to the US, they better make some major adjustments soon.

I'm going to be cheering for America, but I really hope that a Stevie Y led Team Canada takes the gold. Its really hard for me to cheer against the Captain. This may actually sound like blasphemy, but I hope Sweden gets knocked out quick. I don't want Lids, Z, or Mule burning themselves out or getting injured in this tournament. We have a Stanley Cup we need to reclaim.

Not so much during the regular season. During the playoffs, I get really annoyed when they lose. I'm still a little pissed about that loss Anaheim where Hossa scored, but it was waved off because the ref "lost sight" of the puck. The loss in the Finals to the Pens REALLY bothers me to this day. Its going to stick with me for a long time, even if the Wings beat the Pens this year in the Finals, that loss will still bother the crap out of me. Maybe its because I'm a hardcore fan or maybe its because I have Pens championship crap rammed down my throat every second of every day. I wasn't bothered this much when we lost to the Devils and I think the reason is because the Wings SHOULD have won. We had a much better team and to watch Crosby and Talbot skate around with the Cup in the Joe after the way they acted during that series with the cheap shots and trash talk, it just drives me crazy.

It should be what WILL they all have in common in June? They're all rookie goalies that led their teams to the SCF.
-
No kidding. The Pens will lose half their fans when they don't win the Cup this year. After Game 5 was played, people had ZERO interest in the Finals around here. The day of Game 6, I said I was watching the game tonight and people were like, "Game? Oh yeah... go Pens..." A week later they're getting "Pens 09 Stanley Cup" tattooed on their backs. Hate the phonies

1/31 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Penguins 2 (SO)
xtrememachine1 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
If we can acquire some help in the goal scoring department, we'll be fine. Acquire a winger, any winger as long as he has some ability to put the puck in the net (Ray Whitney or someone) and with Franzen back, we'll be in good shape. In the meantime, I'll have to continue listen to how the GREATEST HOCKEY TEAM TO EVER SKATE beat my "old, s***ty" Red Wings till at least March. Blahhhhhhhh -
I will praise Howard! This guy is incredible and is doing it without all the regulars in the lineup. With Howard playing like this, once we get back to 100%, things are looking really good for the playoffs. I would much rather watch them get out shot and win, than out shoot the other team and lose and God knows we've seen that enough times.

Could the injuries cause Detroit to miss the playoffs?
xtrememachine1 replied to Phazon's topic in General
I'm looking at this in a positive light. This is an Olympic year, which means guys will play more games than what they're used to and with the Wings going deep into the playoffs in each of the last 3 years if they didn't have injury problems, they would be playing around 90 games before the playoffs even start. These injuries are a blessing in disguise. We'll be fresher for the playoffs. Ironically, the Pens are in the same boat with injuries, so maybe a rubber match isn't so far fetched. -
You mean, Kings. They were shutout at home by the Coyotes
-
Mike Lange for the Penguins is pretty bad: "Call Arnold Slick from Turtle Creek" "Get that dog off my lawn" "Get in the fast lane Grandma the Bingo game is ready to roll" "He's smiling like a butcher's dog" "Buy Sam a drink and get his dog one too" (Lots of dogs wearing Pens jerseys that say "Sam's dog") "Look out Loretta" "[goalie name] doesn't know whether to cry or wind his watch" There's some newer ones that he tries out, but I can't remember those right now.

I was happy to see the 09 Pens below the 08 Wings. Finally someone in the media that has some common sense and can see past all the hype around them. They won the Cup and I'll give them their due, but they were in 10th place in February, they were lucky to not have to face the Bruins or Devils in the playoffs and Justin freaking Abdelkader had more goals than Crosby and as many as Malkin. Not exactly the road most champions take. I would've probably ranked them even lower than 6th.

Steve Yzerman and Mario Lemieux Both were very talented and classy. Great role models

Red Wings VP Jimmy Devellano on Fan 590: Wings fans should lower expec
xtrememachine1 replied to kook_10's topic in General
Granted the Wings haven't looked great so far, but nobody wins the Cup in October. As long as they're good enough to make the playoffs, which they are, getting hyper over a things that are happening now is kinda pointless. The Pens were in 10th place in February before they won the Cup. Edmonton made it to the Finals as the 8th seed and came within one game of the Cup in '06. Anaheim was a 7th seed in '03 when they came within one win of a Cup. The Wings have a long time before they need to right the ship. I'll start worrying if their on the verge of getting eliminated in April, May or June. -

Save this link for the spring... we'll all get a good laugh then -
I missed the first half hour on purpose, thinking I would not see any of the ceremony, but the whole game, they're doing these flashbacks of Game 7. It makes me friggin sick. I, unfortunately, live in Pittsburgh and have to see this crap all season.

Tired of Reading How Great Pittsburgh will be this Season
xtrememachine1 replied to Hank's topic in General
The Pens had a lot of things fall in their favor last year. Everything from teams collapsing late in the season, that helped them go from 10th to 4th. Soft playoff schedule against tired teams. Lets face it, if they play NJ or Bos, they're not the defending champs. Playing against an injured Wings team. Getting lucky breaks. Even with all that falling in their favor it took them 7 games to beat us. With a Stanley Cup hangover, I wouldn't be that surprised to see them miss the playoffs. I doubt that'll happen, but it wouldn't it be sweet to see the Wings knock them out of playoff contention in that game in the Joe in March.
