If you're good enough to lead your team to the Finals two years in a row, than you're likely to post good numbers across the board in the regular season. Much better than the Kings, Avs, Leafs or Thrashers goalies. Ozzie's bad regular season last year was a fluke, he'll bounce back this year.

There is a lot wrong with this list. Backstrom is a good play maker, but he's not better than Z. Hank has 40-50 goal potential, shoots a lot and has a good plus/minus. Backstrom gets assists, that's pretty much it. I want to meet the person that has the stones to pick Derek Roy over Vincent Lecavalier. Drafting Carcillo, Doan, or Hartnell over Franzen is foolish. Now granted Ozzie will only play in maybe 50-60 games, but would anyone really draft Jon Quick, Craig Anderson, Vesa Toskala or Kari Lehtonen over a guy that led his team to the Finals in each of the last two years? Every year the Wings don't win the Cup an article like this comes out. Its getting old. I like the people that say how OLD the Wings are. I remember in 2003 people telling me how old the Wings were and how 5 years from then the Wings would be the beat toys of the league. If winning the Cup means you're a beat toy, then yes.

Not depressed at all anymore. Each second that goes by moves us farther away from that game and closer to the next Wings championship.

I was thinking while they were with the Wings. Ozzie is clearly the best goalie we've had in the past 20 years while wearing the winged wheel.

I hate them. I understand the "Ohhhh vintage" look, but make the vintage look the third jersey. Instead we have boring uniforms with USA in boring font. And for the third jersey, we look like the freaking NYR. No imagination. It was like someone said, "Hey, who in the NHL has red, white and blue jerseys?" "Ohhh I know. The Rangers!" "Perfect!"

I'm by no means a Bertuzzi fan, but this is a pretty good deal for the Wings. Only $1.5 mil, he should be good for 20-30 goals. It'll be interesting to see what line he's on and how much he contributes on defense. I remember in the '07 playoffs he was on a line with Lang and Huds and they got little ice time because of their lack of coverage in their own end.

These players leaving for Russia because NHL teams can't afford them because of the cap will be a big discussion at the next CBA. I don't think making the cap $70 mil will fix anything either. They'll have to figure out something else. Something that keeps small market teams competitive, yet keeps players from leaving the NHL for the KHL because of money.

Didn't he leave Russia under bad terms? He was supposed to fulfill his military duty or something and belonged to a Russian team. Kinda surprising to see him go back there.

Lidstrom is the only one I care about signing for next year. Depending on how well Flip does as the second line center, I would like to see the Wings make run for Marleau. The guy plays the Wings system really well in SJ. Plus, Paul Kariya wouldn't be bad. I would like to see the guy on a team that I don't hate.

I like reading and hearing about how people think the Wings are going to be bad for the upcoming year. That usually precedes a great season with a bunch of Wings haters saying "Damn it!! I hate that team so much!!"

If the Wings can get the same kind of playoff performances that they have been getting from Ozzy, stay healthy and can do better on the PK, I expect them to be in the final four again.

This is the Red Wings version of a rebuilding year. Which means they'll only be a little bit better than everyone else.

He's very streaky. He'll pile up a ton of goals in a short period of time then disappear for weeks, if not months. Not fast, not good on defense and remember he played on a line with the Art Ross trophy winner and only came away with 25 goals this past year.

Hopefully he's a 3rd liner and we can still get Sundin or Prospal for the 2nd line spot with Mule and Flip.

Fast skater and good at both ends of the ice, typical Wings type of player. Plus, he's a right handed shot. Good signing, now lets just see for how much.

In Pittsburgh a lot of people referred to him as the "Garbage Man" for all the garbage goals he scored. Like Anomalously mentioned, a lot of those goals were scored on the PP. Pens fans couldn't wait for the day that he left, we'll be the same way if he comes here.
