Hossa: "Its great to be in a hockey town."

Why would he say, "Its great to be in a hockey town" after leaving HOCKEYTOWN? He didn't say that when he left, Atlanta or Pittsburgh, but he says it now. Just say "I'm glad to be here in Chicago" or "I can't wait to get started with my new team". This seems like a shot at his old team.

    Your top five

If the Wings knock the Penguins out of playoff contention in this game, I will throw the biggest regular season win party the world has ever seen. lol

    strange news on winter classic

Nope. In fact, they think its the beginning of the inevitable Penguins dynasty.

    strange news on winter classic

I work for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and its shoved in my face every second of everyday. So yeah, it still sucks.

    Chicago fires GM Tallon

You forgot coaching too. Then again maybe the Hawks will dump Quenneville on his butt and replace him with the OTHER Bowman.

    Chicago fires GM Tallon

I think the Hawks (Tallon, Bowman, McDonough, whomever) are doing this backwards. I think they should have made sure they had their franchise players locked up first before spending a ton of cash for supporting players. They don't know how much Kane, Toews and Keith will want. They may or may not have enough and I think in this position you would want to make sure you have more than enough. On your second point, that is true. The league will overpay for mediocre players, but I just can't imagine some team out there, no matter how desperate they are, trading something for Huet and his $5.6 mil contract or Campbell and his $7 mil contract. Team will overpay for players, but not that much.

    Chicago fires GM Tallon

Yeah because I'm sure the whole league will be lining up at the Blackhawks door for a group of overpriced, mediocre players. Meanwhile, they can easily steal franchise players like Toews and Kane.

    Chicago fires GM Tallon

I got into it with at least one Hawks fan and one Wings fan telling me that "Tallon isn't stupid. He has a plan. The Hawks will be fine... etc etc etc". I wonder if getting his butt fired was part of that plan.

    Chicago fires GM Tallon

Would all the "Dale Tallon is a genius" posters, please make yourself visible again. We have some crow for you to eat.

    Mats Sundin To Wings?

Couldn't they give him a one year deal for like $2 mil, but add incentives that would take it up to like $5 mil? I know you're allowed to go 7.5% over the cap if you go over by players getting their bonus.

The "Who Will You Miss Most Next Year" Poll

I voted for Hossa. His style of play fit so well with this team and having his presence on the 2nd line gave us the best top two lines in the game. It still sucks that he left, but I'm glad we still have Zetterberg and Franzen.

    This Season's Flyers

They'll be entertaining. Lots of fights, they may even injure Crosby or Malkin, but they won't win the Cup. Emery will make sure of that.

    Kotalik to the Rangers!

Its the Rangers people. Did you really think they would sign someone WITHOUT overpaying? lol

    Pre-Season Schedule

The only time the Pens were leading in the entire series was when it was over. Ohhhh the things that'll pass for "ass kicking" these days.

    Pre-Season Schedule

Pens fans around me are already starting, "We can start next year, the way we ended last year... kickin the Red Wings asses! HA HA HA!"

Who do we try for next?

Ahhhh, that's not a bad idea either. Lots of speed, decent shot, lots to prove. Maybe he's our Cleary 2.0
  17. xtrememachine1

Who do we try for next?

Roy is awful. He played in Pittsburgh for a year and all he did was take dumb penalties and get his ass kicked. He's a waste of money and a roster spot

    Saku Koivu to Anaheim

He and Selanne can go off into the sunset together after the season
  19. xtrememachine1

Who do we try for next?

A tough guy, that is a two way player with some scoring ability. Sounds good to me (in reference to Mark Bell)

Who do we try for next?

He doesn't want to play for us? Well then, screw him!
  21. xtrememachine1

Who do we try for next?

Mats Sundin... $2 mil for 1 year. He doesn't need anymore money, he does need a Cup and why not do it with many of his fellow countrymen that he won a gold medal with? If not Sundin, then probably Moen. That way Z could take a break from the PK.

Holland confirms that Hudler will play in KHL

Funny, a week ago everyone was sayin Hossa or Sammy and Hudler. Now we don't have any of them.

Holland confirms that Hudler will play in KHL

I read somewhere that he's expected to get $3 - $4 mil. Yeah, no thanks.

    Versteeg resigns with Chicago

Actually, Chicago won't be fine. According to nhlnumbers.com, they have $3 mil left. Nobody big is expected to come off the books and if the rest of the league is smart, they won't trade with them and just pluck away what they need. If they need a winger, grab Kane. A center? Take Toews. A defenseman? How about Keith. At this point I'm thinking that Tallon knows something about the salary cap for next year, that we don't. The Wings didn't collapse because of the cap because we have one hell of a farm club and a great GM that knows what he's doing. The Pens are somewhat fine because they didn't have a lot of high priced players on their team when they signed Crosby, Malkin, Fleury and Staal to extensions. The Hawks have too many high priced players now to do what the Pens did. Unless Kane and Toews sign one year deals worth practically nothing, they're done. They both have HUGE paydays coming up and I don't see the Hawks with the spending cash to do it.

    Pronger Signs Extension with Philly

I'm just happy that he's going to be someone else's problem. I'm tired of the Wings having to deal with this jackass every spring.
