They rebuilt a new elite team through the draft from the last draft position, while at the same time winning Stanley Cups. I don't know any other team in all of sports that has done that. FAIL
-
I think he's just sick of Montreal. In the All Star game we saw that he still has good speed and plenty of zip on his shot. I wouldn't mind having him here, but I wouldn't pay more than $3 mil. Even that may be too much.
-
FINALLY!! Finally some good news. Great signing. Can't wait to see what this guy can do with the big club for a whole year.
-
He's big, slow, takes dumb penalties and has zero scoring touch these days. Plus, he's already proved he can't play in our system.
-
I feel the same way. One year deal, 2 mil or less. He'd fit in good with the other Swedes on the team. He'd fit in good on the second line with Franzen. He'd fit in good in the left circle on the powerplay. You're right, Sundin didn't look good last year because he missed half of it deciding where he wanted to play. Typically when any player sits out due to injury, contract or other reasons and come back in the middle of the year, they look lousy. He didn't look all that bad in the postseason putting up 3 goals and 5 assists in 8 games. If Sundin really wants a shot at the Cup, he needs to play for the Wings and I think his presence will give us a much stronger chance of winning it next year.

Its not in this post, but something like 4 years $14 million Scuderi to Kings
-
would Hossa stayed if we would have won the cup?
xtrememachine1 replied to WingNutt's topic in General
I think if he had won the Cup he would have sold himself to the highest bidder. With the Hawks, he gets a little more money and a chance at the Cup. For at least, one year anyways. -
Quit worrying about what Wings fans think... you just lost Scuds to the Kings.

Huet and Khabibulin were BOTH bad investments. Khabibulin played awful, that's why they brought in Huet. Huet comes in and he's replaced by the guy that he's supposed to replace. Now he has $12 mil wrapped up in goaltending. Its called "throwing money around" and that's what happens with GM's that don't have a clue. He could be moved if push came to shove? How's that? Who's going to take a $7 mil cap hit for a defenseman that doesn't produce? The Sens can't even move Heatley and he had a couple 50 goal seasons. Congratulations, I blew up your lame argument yet again.

LOL Yes it is a cool name. I like it As for my point, which apparently you missed while you were trying think up a way to mock my name, Tallon "the genius" is making bad investments and then throws more money at it to try to cover it up and it gets worse. They sign Khabibulin for $6 mil. Whatever. He does bad, they try to trade him, they can't, so they pick up ANOTHER high priced goalie and he does bad. They have great young players entering free agency this year and next and they have $17 mil tied up in three players (Hossa, Campbell, Huet) and two of them are not playing up to their contracts.

You're a Hawks fan on a Wings message board. If you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to post here. joke - A noun, verb, joked, jok⋅ing. Use joke in a Sentence –noun 1. something said or done to provoke laughter or cause amusement, as a witticism, a short and amusing anecdote, or a prankish act: He tells very funny jokes. She played a joke on him. 2. something that is amusing or ridiculous, esp. because of being ludicrously inadequate or a sham; a thing, situation, or person laughed at rather than taken seriously; farce: Their pretense of generosity is a joke. An officer with no ability to command is a joke. 3. a matter that need not be taken very seriously; trifling matter: The loss was no joke. 4. something that does not present the expected challenge; something very easy: The test was a joke for the whole class. Tallon doesn't seem like he has anything figured out. He keeps throwing money at players and hopes it works out. He picks up Khabibulin for $6 mil, he sits on the bench or plays poorly for most of those years. Then they sign Huet for $5.6 and he sits behind Khabibulin. They throw $7 at Campbell and he was practically invisible. Now they're throwing money at Hossa. I think he's intending to load up for a Cup run this year. After this year, he'll try to trade off the big salary players so he can sign Kane and Toews, but its not happening. No one took Khabibulin, no one is taking Huet or Campbell.
-
Antropov and Kovalchuk... its like the odd couple. Big, slow and lazy meets fast, talented and tries to do too much.
-
You're right, Dale Tallon would never make a bad free agent signing. *cough* Khabibulin *cough* *cough* Huet *cough* The man knows what he's doing *cough* $12 mil for 2 goalies *cough* This team is in good hands *cough* Overpaid Campbell *cough* The Hawks have a very bright future. So next year when Kane or Toews are signed to long term deals by the Islanders, and the Blackhawks begin to fall apart because there this thing called *gasp* a salary cap, would you be willing to print this post out and eat it?

What kind or Shape for Next Years FA market?
xtrememachine1 replied to Hank Dats 'N Homer's topic in General
I like the look of next year's free agent class. I like the fact that we have a lot of money available to us next year too. -
The Hawks currently have $11.7 mil left in the bank. They still need to sign Kris Veersteg and Cam Barker. Next year, Kane, Toews, and Keith all become free agents. No one will take Huet or Campbell via trade because of their contracts so you're kind of stuck with them. I'll be interested to see who leaves next year. Btw, the Islanders, Kings and Wild have a ton of money to spend. If Kane and Toews aren't locked up by this time next year, they'll be wearing one of those teams jerseys. If this doesn't worry you then you should probably lay off the drugs or alcohol.

I was hoping Gabby would sign with the Wings. He'd be a nice upgrade from Hossa, but I didn't expect Holland would make a move for him. And now that I see he is getting a $7.5 mil contract, I KNOW there's no way we could have gotten him. Its a very risky move by the Rangers. If he stays healthy, he's worth every penny. If he continues to have injury problems... well. I wouldn't have paid that much for him. I thought with him missing pretty much the entire season, he would've gotten at most $6 mil.
-
Laraque is horrible. The only thing he can do is fight and he hardly ever drops the gloves.
-
I said I would cheer for Hossa even if he left the Wings because I didn't want to be like the Pens fans and be bitter about him leaving but... the Blackhawks? Is this a friggin joke? Plus, he's saying the same stupid things that he said last year. "That's why I chose Chicago. They have a chance to win a Cup." The Wings have been in the final four for the last three years, in the Finals for the last two and the Wings BEAT the Hawks in 5 games without Lidstrom or Datsyuk. Now we get to play him 6 times a year for the next 12 years, good Lord. The deal doesn't make sense for three reasons. 1. Why would you leave the better team for just a little more money? 2. The Hawks' best players contracts are up after this upcoming year. Huet, Campbell and now Hossa are eating a ton of money already. How can they afford Kane, Toews and Keith? 3. A 12 year deal with a team that you've never played for? Hossa doesn't know the coach, the front office, the players, the strategy, the city. You don't sign a lifetime contact with a franchise that you've never played with before.
-
Antropov sucks. I don't know why people keep saying, "Hey how about Antropov?" He wasn't good enough for the Leafs and they have nothing. He wasn't good enough for the Rangers and they have zero offense. He's big, he's slow, he's lazy. And as for Bertuzzi, the Wings are good because they have fast two way players. Bert played here, he was on the 4th line, with two other non-two way players (Hudler and Lang) and was horrible. If the Wings trade Rafalski, they're weakening their strength of their team, the defense.
-
We still have Z... that's all that matters. As long as he's playing and he's healthy, the Wings will make noise in the playoffs.
-
In your title, you misspelled Detroit Red Wings.

TSN Talking About GM's Being Foolish on July 1
xtrememachine1 replied to MadMan Mark's topic in General
Yeah, like next year. Don't forget Duncan Keith too. Its almost as if the Hawks did this to piss us off or something because there's no logic behind it. -
LMAO!!!!!! :rotflmao:

Hossa to the Hawks and Conklin to the Blues... Next you'll see Fedorov signing with the Predators and Yzerman leaving for Columbus.
