Ken Hollands Backup plan (its worked before)

I actually want to see Sundin here, but for the right price. My dream would be to see Hossa sign for $4 mil, then have Sundin sign a one year deal for $1 - $2 mil. He wants to win the Cup, I bet he'd be willing to take a pay cut to play with a bunch of his fellow country men, and it would be nice to have a good right handed shot on the powerplay. How would we get the money? Good question. Drop Sammy and Hudler maybe. I don't know. That's why Kenny is the Wings GM and I'm just a crazy Wings fan on a message board.

Favorite team or teams OTHER than the Wings

It used to be the Penguins, but after watching my Wings play them two years in a row in the Finals, I can't find myself liking them any longer which is tough considering I live in Pittsburgh. I've always like the Leafs, they're a fun team to watch. Mike Richards is my favorite non-Red Wings player, but I don't think under any circumstances, I could cheer for the Flyers.

Longshot but is it possible Penguins could match what Oilers

Because Pens fans like to rub stuff in your face and then call you "classless" when you do it to them.

Do you trade Flip in order to sign Hossa?

As of right now, Hossa is on a completely different level than Filppula. He's a 40-50 goal scorer and does a lot more for our second line than Filppula. If we can keep Hossa for $4 mil per year, its the steal of the century and we'd be insane not to do it.

The Real Reason We Lost the Cup

When I first saw the title of this post I thought you were going to say because Barry Melrose picked us to win.

Detroit to offer Hossa long term deal

Pens fans no like lots of words. Hurts head to read

How sweet would a Wings/Pens finals be next year?

The Pens won't even be in the Finals next year. A lot of things broke in their favor in the postseason this year (Flyers backing into the playoffs, the Capitals (enough said), worn out Canes, injured Red Wings). I can't imagine the Pens avoiding Boston or NJ next year. With the contract extensions kicking in for the Pens, they'll have even less depth than they had this year, I just don't see it happening. Detroit on the other hand, if we can keep Hossa for cheap, I see us getting back to the Finals. But as far as the Pens - Wings stuff goes, I think its over with for a while now, if not forever.

    Danny Heatley anyone?

No thanks. He costs too much and doesn't play defense.

Detroit to offer Hossa long term deal

Losing two years in a row in the Finals and people telling him that he made the "wrong decision" will be very motivating for him in the next few years, so if we can get him for $4 mil cap hit per year, we'd be insane not to. Since its front loaded, just buy out the remainder of his years when he's too old. Yes, he had a bad post season statistically, but that doesn't make him a bad player. He was a huge factor in helping us get the 2nd seed and his presence gives us the best second line in hockey. That said, if he wants more than that, we have to let him walk.

How sad are you at the moment?

To me, losing is losing. I feel like s*** everytime they lose a playoff round no matter when it is. A loss is a loss.

How sad are you at the moment?

Exactly! We have tons more talent than the Pens and still lost because their hunger for the Cup was greater than ours. Tonight, that just changed. I expect this team to be much more focused and stronger mentally next season.

SCF GAME 7 GDT: Penguins 2 at Red Wings 1

The silver lining is we just got back the hunger/killer instinct

SCF GAME 7 GDT: Penguins 2 at Red Wings 1

And its even worse for the players. They'll use this feeling to prevent performances like this from ever happening again.

SCF GAME 7 GDT: Penguins 2 at Red Wings 1

Me too. Well not the crying part, but I still love this team to death. I just keep reminding myself, I felt like crap after they lost to the Devils in 95 and then they had three straight incredible seasons, two with championships. This team isn't done making its mark yet. Not even close.
  15. xtrememachine1

What are your feelings on that Icing goal?

Hossa didn't score Zetterberg didn't score Datsyuk didn't score Franzen didn't score Lidstrom didn't score That's why we lost the game. The non-icing call sucked, but whatever. Fleury played great, their defense was amazing. They deserved to win and we didn't.

SCF GAME 7 GDT: Penguins 2 at Red Wings 1

It sucks to lose in the Finals and be this close, but honestly I feel the same when we lose in any round. A loss is a loss and it sucks whenever it happens. The Pens played great, Fleury was huge and we now have all the motivation in the world to refocus and reload for next year. We've been in the final four for the last three years and in the Finals the last two years. This team is something special and we're not going away. Next spring we'll be back at it all over again and have a good chance at winning it all. I just feel bad for Hossa. Yeah, he chose the wrong team blah blah blah, but the guy passed up big money for a chance to win a Cup and it didn't happen. Maybe he has some kind of curse on him. Ottawa never even made it to the Finals until he left. Anyways, great season, very disappointing ending, but we'll be doing this next spring and the next one after that and the next one after and...

    Why the wings will win

I can make an argument pretty easily... they were winning in both of those games. If Staal doesn't get the shorty, the Penguins don't get that huge surge of momentum and possibly lose Game 4.

    Why the wings will win

Game 1 and 2 we played without our leading scorer and MVP candidate and won by a combined score of 6-2 (one of your goals was actually put in by us) Games 3 and 4 were close and could have gone either way. Game 5 we get one of our top stars back, the Penguins turned into the Flyers for a game, played like a pack of thugs and got their asses beat. As far as the Wings "exiting the national stage", we've been hearing that for at least 10 years now and it was said by people that know a hell of a lot more about hockey than you.

    What will..

Nothing. I'm going to be pacing back in forth in front of the TV and puke everytime anything exciting happens.

    Win This One For....

    - Win it for Mr Hockey who's been having probably the worst year of his life without his wife. - Win it for Hossa who cares more about the Cup than money and proved it. - Win it for Ozzie who can silence his critics with another Cup to his resume. - Win it for the city of Detroit that needs something to get their minds off of the economy - Win it for yourselves because you deserve it

    "Bill Guerin, you ignorant slut"

Ha! I pass that sign on my way to work everyday. They had something for each round. For the second round it was something like "Buy a sandwhich, get a free drink and throw your CAPS away." This one is kinda lame considering some of the other messages they had.

    Lastchange,Matchup's the key?

Your Mom. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Seriously though, Hank was on the bench or trying to get off the bench when Crosby was on the ice for those games. In Detroit, Hank will be on the ice everytime Crosby is. Poor poor Sidney.

    Marian Hossa Discussions

I'm going to wear my Penguins Marian Hossa t-shirt while on the bus to work tomorrow and switch out of it into last year's Wings Stanley Cup t-shirt with the Cup and the names on the back. So one minute I'll have Hossa's name on my back, then I'll have the Cup with all the Wings names on my back. *hint hint* Hockey Gods

The Wings are getting good vibes from my family situated in enemy territory.
