Sweet! Thanks Winger19!

They're not trying to be sneaky, they've been doing that since Game 7 against Washington. Whatever gives Crosby and Malkin more ice time. Problem is, it gets Hank out there more often too. And was it my imagination or did I see Helm shadowing Malkin at least twice during this game?
-
As much as I would like to believe that, I can't imagine the Wings winning both game in Pittsburgh.
-
I think its a little too early to be posting this. One game does not a series make... or something like that.
-
I REALLY like our 4th line with Leino and Abdelkader. To me Maltby is too slow and if Draper comes back, he should take Maltby's spot.

I was a fan of this guy last year, but this year, holy crap! I might buy a Helm jersey if he keeps this up. lol Funny, on Friday, I was talking with a good friend of mine and talked about Helm's PK against the Hawks and he was like, "Who? What was his name again?" I bet he knows who Darren Helm is now.

You made that? THANK YOU!! Its friggin awesome! Do you have it stored some place where I can download the higher quality video? The YouTube version is somewhat pixelated. Man, I'm glad someone else said that. Now I don't feel like such a cornball. lol

Doom and gloom seems everywhere - not buying it!

Hell yeah! I'm with you! For me, its tough to avoid the media seeing as how I work for the media (in Pittsburgh no less). We received an email today from the NHL saying that they wanted shots of our newspaper from previous round victories for the championship DVD they're making. I'm sure they're making one for the Wings too, but just hate the thought of a championship Penguins DVD being made. *shivers* -
I can understand the comparisons between the 80's Oilers and the Pens, but what about the 70's Canadiens and the Wings? I think today's Wings play alot like the Habs from that era. Everything from the all time stud defenseman to the four lines of speedy two way forwards.
-
You're being too kind. Without Ovechkin, the Caps are a lottery team.
-
I remember Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Lidstrom all being out there when Crosby was. His lack of production had nothing to do with how well he played. I thought he was playing really well, but three of the top defensive players in the league at the same time is too much.
-
Malkin is basically on a line by himself. If the Wings get killed by him in this series, then they deserve to lose.
-
Let me try to help you feel better. The Pens looked very dominant against the Canes because... well because they're the Canes and they were coming off two long 7 game emotionally draining series. Before that, the Pens were pushed to the brink by a team that has no depth, a rookie goaltender, no defense and just one star in the Capitals. If the Caps can push the Pens to a 7 game series, we can beat them.

Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Draper AND Lilja participating in full practice tod

I don't know why but when I read this my heart rate jumped dramatically. This is going to be a long series for me... -
I know how you feel. When the Wings won a game during the series last year, nobody talked to me and I did no rubbing it in. I subscribe to the Steve Yzerman "Say little when you lose, say less when you win" idea. When the Pens won Game 3, I had people coming from EVERYWHERE "Hey how about those Wings huh?!" Wanting everyone else to shut up is a good reason for wanting your team to win.

Here's what we have on post-gazette.com... http://www.post-gazette.com/icehouse/hossa.asp We also has the icehouse... http://www.post-gazette.com/icehouse/

I actually couldn't be more nervous. My stomach has been in knots since Helm scored in OT and probably will be until the series is over. Maybe its because I live in Pittsburgh and all I hear is how the Pens are going "get their revenge on Hossa and hoist the Cup in front of him". I would be BEYOND happy if the Wings win this in 4 or 5.
-
I like the Pens because if they weren't here, I would never get to see the Wings in person.
-
It may SEEM like a cool idea, but speaking from experience, Wings vs your second favorite team is agonizing to watch. I would have rather seen the Wings play anyone other than the Pens simply so I don't have to hear all the anti-Wings crap around the clock.
-
Speaking of "can't get the job done". I had Pens fans harrassing the hell out of me for three rounds this year with "Go Jackets!!", "QUACK QUACK QUACK!" and "Go Hawks! You took out Lidstrom and Datsyuk, now go for Zetterberg!"

He's not playing great, yet he'll steal a game. What's he gonna do? Stuff it in a sack and run away?
-
You mean the same Khabibulin that gave up a 3-0 at home in a span of 4:23. The same Khabibulin that hasn't won a game in this series. The same Khabibulin that has a 2.93 GAA with a save percentage under .900. That one? Go away. You've proven hockey isn't your thing.

Pittsburgh Penguins advance to Stanley Cup Finals
xtrememachine1 replied to FunkedUp's topic in General
Without getting into a "Why the Steelers won the Super Bowl" discussion on a Red Wings forum... Larry Fitzgerald had 1 catch for 11 yards going into the 4th quarter. James Harrison intercepts on the goaline and runs 100 yards for a TD. Defense wins championships Crosby and Malkin are, of course, getting better, but what everyone else is failing to mention is that so are Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Hossa, Franzen, Kronwall, Cleary, Filppula, Hudler, etc. The Pens aren't the only team getting better. If Crosby and Malkin only do half what they did against Carolina and Washington, the Pens will lose. My only concern going into these Finals is the health of the team. Datsyuk being out is bad, but manageable I think. If Nick Lidstrom is out or very limited, I think it will be very tough for Detroit to win. -
HA!! You were doing so well with your last comment, now this train wreck. Aside from Lidstrom its still a little early to say who's going to the HOF. But assuming everyone plays the rest of their career the way they are right now, Datsyuk, Zetterberg and possibly Hossa are all going to the HOF. Just because you're not winning scoring titles every year, doesn't mean you're not good. Zetterberg won the Conn Smythe last year because he shutdown Crosby and at the same time scored goals. In fact, Datsyuk and Zetterberg have been best two way players in the game for a few years now. If they keep that up, they may not have the scoring titles that Crosby, Malkin and Ovechkin have, but they'll have quite a few more Stanley Cups.
