Frankly I found Babcock's thinly veiled whining about penalties last night a bit disappointing. Bylsma had plenty to complain about the first two games, and chose to take the high road. Babcock could learn a thing or two from this. Why tick off the ref crews for future consideration? Best to shut up and play on.

Spot on -- it did look at first like Hossa split the stick on purpose. Replay seemed to show incidental contact, and frankly I blame Dupuis for wasting time looking for a call when he should've been bee-lining to get a new stick. And yes, Hossa did get away with a hook -- as for who cares, well I guess you haven't read the about 1,000 posts here whining about the refs being in the tank for the Pens. Glad to see somebody recognizes these things go both ways. Such as the Pens getting away with too many men, Detroit getting away with a blatant pick on the PP goal. It... works... both... ways. The Pens won for the same reason Detroit did the other two -- starting with dominating face-off wins. 7 games would be awesome -- provided of course the Pens win. (cute smiley face thing added for effect)

    Cooke kicked Osgood?

Since we're all about crying about dirty play now -- Staal got clocked in the head not once, but twice. Osgood got him first. By the second, they were having to roll up bandages and stick 'em up his nose. Two cheap shots -- but funny not one peep about it here. Now we're all about the low blows today... hmmmm.

    Cooke kicked Osgood?

Know what else was dirty? Osgood sticking Staal in the head the other night. Payback is tough.

    Matt Cooke is our Kronwall.

The end of hockey as we know it...

My team lost, so now it's a conspiracy!!!!!! You left out Detroit getting away with a blatant pick on their PP goal -- guess that makes it WWF too. Believe me, there were tons of people saying the same things when Zetterberg got away with his little palming trick. Spare me the whining, please.

Hossa to be re-signed after postseason

You know, interesting you should mention that -- lots of Pens fans said Hossa couldn't shine unless he played with a world-class center like Sid. So far those Pens look pretty smart.

Guys, guys -- this is the "loose" officiating you all wanted so much right? I'm the only who was looking for a tightly-called game, you all said after the first two games you loved them letting the boys play, remember? Let it go, don't call stuff, let the players play, swallow those whistles. Of course, the Wings won both those games, which I'm sure (cough) is just a coincidence.

No, I'm talking about tonight. The Detroit player picked the Penguins defender on the PP, allowing the Wings shooter a wide open look at the net. Same thing Samuellson did to Malkin on Detroit's first goal Sunday Night. I already talked about Dupuis's stick and how I didn't think Hossa did that on purpose. The side I'm on is objectivity. Which leaves me pretty much by myself here.

Hossa to be re-signed after postseason

No, he sure didn't -- last year he contributed. He worked hard and fought all the way. That's what's got to burn you as a Wings fan. He's been a slug along for the ride. But that's what happens when you choose the easy road to the Cup.

Round 4 - Game 3: Terrible non-call on the pick that Detroit set on the PP goal. Announcers talked about it for a good 30 seconds. Unlike the Pittsburgh non-call, Detroit's actually led to an undeserved goal.

"Speared"? Uhhhh.... not really. Osgood did a nice job of dramatizing that... and also, was the puck really in control there? Kind of a quick whistle as it was going into the net, you ask me. But sticking to tonight -- it's funny, for as blatant a pick that Detroit set on the PP goal, not a single Wings fan mentions it. I on the other hand at least mentioned the Pens getting away with too many men, before they yanked that post. But again, over here the Wings never commit a single penalty. And must have the sound off too when they watch games, because the announcers discussed the illegal pick for a good 30 seconds. Yet not a peep about it over here. C'mon, it was a pick and you know it.

I said Malkin should've sat -- along with Zetterberg, who threw a jab at a Pens' player before Malkin took a swing at him. Don't believe me, go back and watch the replay. Zetterberg wasn't innocent in all this -- in fact his swing at another Pens player attracted Malkin's attention. They both should've sat -- maybe you're too dense to realize that?

Like I said, I knew you'd have your excuse holstered in case of loss. Again, the goal that WAS scored on a blown non-call was by Detroit. Did you have the sound turned off when the announcers were talking about the interference Detroit's gotten away with? That pick they laid on the PP should have taken a Detroit player off the ice there, and ended the man advantage right there. It wasn't. It worked both ways last night my friend. The Pens won tonight for the same reasons Detroit did the other night -- starting with working to win face-offs. Conspiracy talk like this cheapens the discussion for us all.

Too bad the Wings DID score on the PP after they laid that blatant pick. Worked both ways tonight, friend.

    Punch a Hossa?

Gosh however would they get that idea? Hours and hours of fun... pow! Now let's see the real guys deck the sellout tonight.

Nah, think he's just trying to recover the stick whack to the head Osgood got away with. Or that other spear he took from the Detroit player. You know the Osgood play I'm talking about, right?

I know, I know... now that I've demonstrated I know a shred about the rules, so you can't use the ol' "I question your rules knowledge" ploy that seems to be so popular around here... plus posting actual visual evidence, I imagine I could be rubbing a couple of you the wrong way. I see your point.

Looks to me like the puck is nowhere in sight.

No, you don't. The Pens player hit Hossa squared-up and forward. That's call establishing body position. He then skated on, in the same path. Samuellson didn't have the same established position when he blocked Malkin -- he only picked him to keep him from preventing him from blocking the other Wings' players shot. That's otherwise known as a "screen" and a big fat no-no. See the diff? Imagine how you'd be howling if say, Guerin nudged Zetterberg away to free Crosby for a slap shot. Wow do I have to teach everybody the rules here? And just in case you think it's just me blowing smoke -- go back to the game replay. Even the announcer said Samuellson got away with interference.

If that above stuff is as bad as you say then, let's get it all called, sparky. But please, no whining about some conspiracy as an insurance excuse to break open in case of loss.

Yes, and if it were still around, you wouldn't find a single instance of me blaming what he did for the Pens' loss. In fact, if you'd bothered to read it, you'd see it wasn't even about the game outcome.
