That was Ryan Whitney. I think the would have taken it if Crosby hadn't won the most ever winter olympic medals for one country in overtime. Way to go USA. PS Shout out to my boy Brooks Orpik. Great tourney.

Canada vs USA - Women's Gold medal game - 6:30 EST

I'm going to hold to form and say that: I 'personally' think Molsen in cans and cigars is an awesome way to celebrate a gold medal on home soil ...er ather frozen pond. If some body want's to fine them for giving an 18 year old a beer, then they are a jackass. The tournament (woman's) is over and the floors are being swept. The time is then to relish the moment on 'the top' of the mountain, not hiding in a hotel room. If the IOC can't recognize the magnitude of the human moment for it's participants, then it is a jackass too.

I'm shocked by the amount of hooking going on in a woman's game.

Canada played like we all expected Canada to play for the first time in the tournament, but I don't think you can under estimate the effect of the total collapse in goal by that choking shark looser. That said, Canada is looking good for gold. Yet, you can't count any team out in a single game scenario, particularly the US (of the three potential opponents). The US defense, back checking, and goal tending aren't likely to loose their focus as massively as the Russians did. Should be a much better game if it comes to pass.

    Sedin's want the Zetterberg deal

They'll probably end up signing with Detroit over the same term for 31.5 each.

What will you do _IF_ Penguins win on friday?

I love to watch the cup skated. If the wings win I will watch the joy on the players faces. I will watch Hossa shake my teams hands and then skate with the cup. I'll watch every last minute of the coverage, and I may even watch the recording again some time over the summer. It will suck, but I wouldn't miss it for much.

Reason to like this Stanley cup final.

The Pens have the momentum now, but the Wings had it just as big on Monday, and they are heading for Detroit. Both teams can be propositioned to be the prospective winner of the series with equally good arguments. You couldn't assemble any two other teams in the league and have the quality of players that play now before us. Goals are even. Series is tied. Both teams have a great chance to take the cup, and it all goes on the line in game five. Whatever the outcome, whether it be in 6 games or 7, and no matter who wins this series, we have some great hockey before us. Here's to it thus far.

Good point. If he plays from game one at 100%, I'm not sure the Pens get to this point. I feel he'll definitely be back, but I not sure how much of him is going to be on the ice when he returns. Since the water is passed under the bridge it becomes impossible to say for sure.

That's my gut feeling as well. But we do know for sure the looser will get another crack at it and probably shouldn't be counted out judging from the first four.

    Thoughts from the Penguin's Nest

I expect passes to be passed up in favor of shots in this period. Oops. Quoted the wrong quote.

    Nobody to Blame But Ourselves

Red whatever is either really drunk, or not a wings fan. Don't panic with home ice until you loose it. The Pens are better than many have given credit for. Buckle up.

Something that I've noticed about Mellon Arena

It's not sponsored by VS, but VS does allow the game to be shown on the screen outside the arena, unlike NBC which prohibits it, thus the 'thanks to VS' announcement over the PA during the game. As far as I know, Michiganers are allowed to buy tickets to the game, but not allowed to buy cepholopods from the local fish mongers. Showing the games on the screen outside the arena started last year. In the space they are working with out there you can't see the game well if you're not in the closer half of the 2,000 that show up.

    Lidstrom to play game 1

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/stanleycup...s-injuries.html "For a change, there was some encouraging news from the Detroit Red Wings' infirmary on Thursday. Nicklas Lidstrom, the leading scorer among NHL defencemen in this year's playoffs, will return to the lineup for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final against Pittsburgh on Saturday at Detroit"

    Pens Exposed?

We'll be hiding Hal Gill occasionally, but that's about it.

    Petr Sykora

He can't fore check or back check, and he can't win puck battles along the boards, so when he stooped scoring it was just a matter of time.

    Pens Exposed?

That is true. The D has played better as a group during that time as well. In the end it just may be that Boucher brings more to the ice than Dupuis does.

    Greetings from Pittsburgh

Scary good. From a Pens fans perspective. I have a feeling the points will be harder to come by in the next round though. The thing I'm liking even more though is their signs of maturing. Crosby is chasing a post season goal record, and he gave an empty netter away to Craig Adams in the waning moments of the Carolina series last night, think you'd ever see Ovie do that? And Malkin has been blocking shots and back checking harder as the rounds go by. What I don't like to see is Hossa waking up lately.

Maybe that's because the first two have 26 of them.

    Sergei Gonchar

Gonchar has his brain holes now and then. At his best he's #2, when he's off he's more like #4. The Pens future is Letang, but he is still simmering.

    Greetings from Pittsburgh

Before the season, I saw no reason to belive the Pens could beat the Wings in a 7 game series. As well as the Pens had played since the trade deadline, I still saw no reason the Pens could beat the Wings when the playoffs started. As Hossa and Dats continued to fail to show through the early rounds, and the injurys started to mount, while the Pens continued to play well and Crosby brought his game to a new level, I began to think they have a shot at it. But just a shot. The Wings are a great team. You can talk about goal differential, the D, the depth, or whatever... the Wings play as a team. Every player supports every other player on the ice. What makes their D great is players like Dats, and Zetterberg back checking like the game is on the line with every shift. What makes their scoring depth come through is a defense they can count on to be in position win the puck battles to spring them for the opportunities they get. The Penguins are beginning to bring some of these traits into their game as well, those that have been watching 'to observe' instead of 'to confirm' can see it. They got their best lessons in what it takes about this time last year. Can the Pens win this series? Yes they can. Can the Wings win this series? You betcha. Here's hoping we end up with a couple weeks of great hockey to remember, and can ignore the idiots on both sides who bring nothing good to the party. Now go beat those Hawks and lets get this thing started. I can't wait a week and a half.

    Pens v Wings

Pens fans are starting to show up on the board in small numbers, but it is too soon to assume the unfolding future.
