Well I don't know about you guys but I don't understand why people keep talking about cutting down injuries & cheapshots when we all know they will never stop b/c we all know players want the other teams players to get injured b/c those teams will be easier to beat. Also fans want the teams other players to miss time due to injury b/c they get a better chance of watching their team win. Case in point I have no problem if the Preds suffer a rash of injuries or Pens, Canucks, Sharks for that matter. In the world of sports its all about looking out for #1 and just getting your team to win or the team that you have cash on if you are a bettor. I think the league has to accept that professional sports is all about winning and the only way to put away the injury/cheapshot issues to bed is to legalize it and let the players all knock each other out until we have no healthy bodies left and then they will learn their lessons only then. Also you have to look at the coaching and I bet if you ask any NHL coach if they would like Cindy Crybaby injured or healthy and all 29 coaches will say they rather him injured b/c he can't hurt me from the press box. It's that plain & simple b/c winning is everything in pro sports and if you have a chance to injure someone with a clean hit you do so and if you want to take a cheapshot to injure someone you do it at your own risk as there will be some retribution from the other teams players.

Tell me anyone won't rejoice if Pekka Rinne were to get injured and be done for the series?

Why would I jump on another teams bandwagon? When did I say I was rooting against the Wings? All I am doing is conceding that the Wings won't win the Cup this year and I don't see what's wrong with that. The fact that the losses hurt me more than is hurts the players shows how big of a fan that I am and I expect nothing but the best from this hockey club and 4+ years without a Cup is long overdue in my books as we are not Leaf fans and thus deserve the best.

In the world of professional sports I put winning ahead of class as all I want are for the teams I am rooting for to get the W and thats all that matters! I don't care who's toes I got to step on as all I want are Wins!

I started following this team in the 1988 playoffs until present and I've seen lots of ups & downs including 4 Cups. Up until the 2009 playoffs I used to be pretty confident that the Wings were gonna win the Cup or had a great shot as they fielded so many teams that were Cup contenders from 1993-96 that didn't win and then all of a sudden they finally won when they didn't have the great regular season records as the previous post-season failures. The difference b/t then & now is that these teams are not as good a previous editions and thus I am just making my case to get this team back to past glory and thus telling it like it is.

Whats wrong with it b/c people injure the players I like who play for my teams so why should I have respect for the other teams? Teams love playing the Wings when they are short-handed so why can't the Wings do the same to them? I don't know the players personally so to me they are just a commodity and thus not their to be my friends. All I care about in the world of sports is that the team that I am rooting for wins as I couldn't care less if its a blowout win or an OT win as all I want are wins as I am greedy when it comes to this. I bet you if the NHL or any sport started to legalize cheapshots and have everyone fend for themselves after the injuries started to mount then the players would then finally get it that its wrong to go out and cheapshot people. Case in point is that the suspensions don't deter it as look what Weber did last night? So why not let them destroy each other and see how many are left standing?

I never said the Penguins were the better team in 2009 they just got the better end result when it mattered the most which is why the experience was so disappointing. Up until that game I never went to the Joe as I live in Canada nearly 3 hrs from the border so once game 7 was set I decided to shell out some cash and make the road trip and I was excited and expected a Cup party after the game. The fact that the end result didn't go my way and the fact that I will probably never get another chance to see them win the Cup in person again or not even on TV again really sucks. And also 2009 didn't change my perspective of the team as I knew the Wings were up against the Cap for the following year and I didn't expect a Cup in 2010 b/c Hudler, Hossa & Samuelson were most likely gone and they were an older team. But since that year its been nothing but decline for this team and the more I try to look for positives they keep letting me down so I am not going to be fooled. I watched this team play the entire 07/08 season and the level of play is night & day when compared to this years team with the only exception this years has a great goalie in Jimmy (see I said something good for once) It also doesn't help that the competition has gotten stiffer and thus I don't know when the next Cup is gonna come as I am pinning my hopes Kenny will bring in the help that they need but we can never be sure so I am not expecting a Cup unless I see the results.

Actually I definitely deserved to be in attendance for game 7 2009 as I was ready to have a Cup party the morning of the game but when I went to the game it was a total disappointing experience thanks to the Wings performance. They gave me nothing to cheer for and forced me to have to watch my most hated team hoist a cup in my teams homce ice. So believe me you don't want to kill to be in a position to watch your team drop the biggest game of the year to a bunch of cry babies and have there fans invade your arena to add insult to injury. As far as me predicting the future goes, well I didn't predict who will win the Cup but I can definitely tell it won't be the Wings but if you are too stubborn to believe that then that's your own opinion. I felt good about 2008 and it was all good, then I was iffy in 2009 and they came up 1 game short and then the last 3 post-seasons I have basically waved the white flag at a Cup b/c they are too undermanned!

What am I supposed to do be a Homer and predict Stanley Cups every year? I want to win the Cup this year but it doesn't take a genious to realize that they are not winning a Cup this year and I have no shame in admitting it. Also as a result I have a right to vent as per the reasons why no cup is coming this year.

The last tickets I purchased were Game 7 2009 and they blew the Cup and I will not buy anymore Wings tickets unless they are in firm position to win a Cup. I saw the scores of the game at the gym last night and when 10:00 PM est rolled around it said 2-1 Preds I decided to watch CSI and it turned out to be a good choice. I think on Friday I'll watch Grimm and then on Sunday I'll watch the ABC NBA game of the week b/c I am through getting stabbed in the heart by this team!

The blame should be all on Kenny Holland as he put this team together and hasn't finished the job since June of 2008.

Only a Homer would pick the Wings to win the Cup.

I second that as I know the Wings won't win the Cup and my only hope for the playoffs is someone to knock off the Penguins and also don't want the Canucks to win as well.

All I have to say is 5th place doesn't get the Wings a Cup!

No cap but why are the Penguins allowed to have Crybaby, Manikan, Neal, Stall, Dupis, Kuniz for starters? I guess Gary Buttman only allows his fav team to have scoring depth? So I am the worst fan for wanting a Cup?

Stuart is gone back to Callie, and Lidstrom should only return if they bring in cavalry e.g. Praise, Sutter or Webber. There is no point for Lidstrom to return to another flawed team that's going nowhere in the playoffs. Its time for Kenny to take the same approach as he did in the summer of 2001 when he got sick of getting beat in the playoffs and he decided to bring in cavalry in the form of Hasek, Robataille, & Hull! They need to bring in help b/c this team can't win another Cup without help ASAP!

Yea here we go again not having home ice advantage and thus being down in a 0-2 hole after games 1 & 2! Just our luck it will be the Sharks getting the #3 spot by leap frogging the Coyotes if they lose today! So yea I want a Cup and Kenny Holland has to get me that Cup at whatever cost necessary e.g. trades, free agent, bounties etc.!

Well if the Preds overtake the Wings for the 4th seed then its a safe bet to assume the will beat the Wings in the first round. It's bad enough the Wings can barely finish 4th in the conference.

I guess the Wings are just fighting for the 4th spot right now so they can have home ice against the Preds as the Blues will go 6 ahead today.

Great job Wings our 3rd of 4 losses in a row. At this rate they will be lucky to finish 5th in the conference!

I've only been to the Joe once and it was game 7 of the 2009 Final and I noticed that there was about 20-30% of the fans rooting for the Penguins and I was wondering is that the norm at the Joe or only when certain teams come in. I remember during the first intermission I got caught up in the concourse getting some drinks and I heard the crowd roar and I thought it was a Wings goal but then I looked at the TV and saw the Pens took a 1-0 lead and I was like WTF? So do any other teams fans venture off into the Joe like that or is that just a 1 time thing? I know the Leaf fans come in huge numbers but thats expected b/c lots of them live in Windsor area but Penguins fans is unacceptable if you ask me and for game 7 of the biggest game of the year was really tough to swallow all those loser celebrating in our building.

Without home ice they are not beating the Canucks and that's a fact. They may also not beat St.Loser without home and even with home ice they are still not safe as the Preds, Hawks, Blues & Canucks can all beat this flawed Wings team in the playoffs. Just like the 2010 & 2011 Wings playoff teams this is just as flawed!

Yea for them not our guys who can't win on the road. The problem with finishing 4th or lower means you have to start a series or two on the road and that pretty much automatically puts the Wings in an 0-2 hole! Aside from 2010 against the Coyotes who haven't won a playoff series in forever you have to go all the way back to 1998 when the Wings last won a series where they didn't have home ice advantage. In 97 & 98 they didn't need home ice all the way through b/c they used to have all the time before and never won the Cup so they stopped putting much emphasis on regular season standings but since then they need the #1 seed to get them the Cup e.g. 02 & 08.
