Sounds good to me. It will be interesting to see how DiPietro bounces back after missing pretty much all of last season. I bet the Islanders are regretting that life time contract now.
-
Tim Thomas is probably going to win the vezina this year so not only will it probably be Tim Thomas over your third goalie but more than likely he will be starting over the injury prone dipietro

It wouldn't be possible to pick up Heatley without destroying our depth especially with the salary cap going down in the next few years. The only way Holmstrom is gone is if he is retiring. Ken Holland is too loyal to his veteran players to trade him away after being here for so long.
-
Brad Stuart wasn't the only reason the Wings lost but both of the Penguins goals were direct results of horrible plays by Stuart. In my opinion he was the worst player on the ice last night.
-
Robert Lang is lazy and he sucks!!! He certainly did score some clutch goals for us though.
-
Unfortunately that probably won't happen since he has a no trade clause.
-
If I'm not mistaken the Wings will have about 5 million in cap space before we resign anybody.
-
I know what you mean. I'm normally a nervous wreck before big games like this but for some reason I'm not worried at all. That will probably change once the puck drops though.

It's in the videos on TSN. There is a link somewhere on the first page.

Malkin's face has me thinking only one thing: Sloth from the Goonies

What does Max Talbot have in common with Brian Campbell?
WizardofOz replied to YoungGuns1340's topic in General
If you don't like this board how about you go back to the penguins boards with all the other bandwagon fans who didn't start watching hockey until last may. -
Are you sure you're not thinking of Paul Coffey scoring on his own net in the 1996 conference finals against the Avelanche?
-
What are your thoughts on how this series will go? It is always nice to get an outside perspective on things.
-
The West has owned the east in regular season interconference play at least since the lockout and possibly longer but none of that should matter because if I'm not mistaken both the Wings and pens were above .500 against the opposing conference this season plus the playoffs are completely different than the regular season.
-
Yeah Jonas Hiller sure does suck with that horrible .943sv% this playoffs.
-
1. This last series that you speak of is not over yet. The pens still have to win one more game. 2. Of course the pens have allowed less goals in this series than the last two. There has only been 3 games played as opposed to 6 and 7 games respectively.

The Penguins have 61gf and 45ga in 16 games while the Wings have 57gf and 33ga in 15. Thats 3.8125 goals per game for the pens and 3.8 for the Wings. I'm not seeing much difference in goals per game but what I do see is a big difference in goals allowed per game with 2.2 for the Red Wings and 2.8125 for the Pens. That just tells me that their offence is about equal while the Wings have a much better defence.

Since the nhl seems to want 3 point games so badly why don't they have 3 points for a regulation win, 2 for a ot/shootout win and 1 for an overtime loss. This way teams will play for the regulation win

Lidstrom and Osgood, do they get their numbers retired?
WizardofOz replied to SFwingsfan's topic in General
Lidstrom will get his number retired. Osgood will have his number retired and he will be inducted into the hhof as well. He has the second most wins as a red wing and he could possibly pass Sawchuk not only in wins as a Red Wing but in wins all time wich would move him into the top 5 all time. That arguement about his stats not being good enough just doesn't hold water. Grant Fuhr is in the hall of fame and his career gaa is 3.38 and sv% .887. Patrick Roy has a career 2.53 gaa and .910sv%. Osgood's 2.43 gaa and .907 sv% are a hell of a lot better than fuhr's and Roy's sv% isn't much better than Ozzy's. Martin Brodeur, Jacques Plante, and Dominik Hasek are the only three players ahead of Osgood in wins with a better career gaa. -
If the Wings could sign Sundin for under 6 mil for 1 season I'm all for it. I think he would look great in a wings jersey.
-
I'd love to see Mats Sundin wearing the winged wheel. I think he would be a good fit on this team but I just don't see him leaving Toronto.
-
that's horrible news. He would have been a good defenceman for a long time. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

You can't blame this loss on just one player. The entire team didn't show up to play for most of last night. They weren't nearly as physical or aggressive as they were in the first two games and they gave the pens way too much time and space to work with. Lilja wasn't our worst player last night, Stewart was. It seemed like almost every time he was on the ice instead of just putting the puck up the boards and clearing the zone he tried to pass up the middle and the pens would end up holding the puck in and get a scoring chance.
