As long as Red Wings social media puts the word out the final round should be a win for Nyquist. Red Wings nation is a behemouth that is nearly unstopable.

All Wings fans should be against any team being added/moved to the East as Detroit will get moved back to the West most likely.

Yup, last year Blues fans did their best in trying to out "pad" their votes against Wings fans because of the year before with Jake Allen. They still might be pissed about that, so I have no doubt that it'll be a Blues/Wings matchup again that will determine the winner....in the finals this time, most likely.

In doing some testing, per IP, you can only vote 108 times before the system stops counting them. You're still able to "vote" but it's not getting counted. The wait time or "cool-down" period is a while, over 2 hours....but I'm not sure exactly how long.

Back in September Matt (different Matt) said he was no longer doing articles and write-ups on prospects on Red Wings Central. At the time he said that the forums would stay up, but a week ago he posted that they were being closed as well. I didn't see anything posted here about it, HFboards had a farewell thread at the time. I do have to say it was one of the better assesment sites for Wings prospects, especially the rankings. Some of you may be familiar with the forums there, as it was pretty laid back...well since there was little to no moderation (so quite the opposite as here). I would assume he's going to dedicate all his time to CapGeek (if you didn't know a Wings fan runs it) and everything will be pretty much frozen in time. Just thought a post here wouldn't hurt as we are losing an exclusively Red Wings blog/news/forum site.

So some pretty substantial news in the Michigan sporting world. Michigan Entertainment Sports is going to be launched this fall on various cable providers in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. They have signed a 3 year deal with the Grand Rapids Griffins and plan to pickup games from smaller college schools, not in the Big Ten, minor and junior level teams along with High School sports across the state. Should be interesting to see what will become of this station, but good news for Wings and Griffins fans. I should have that along with the Rookie Camp Wingspan recorded and on youtube at some point. I'm hoping to be more productive with pre and post game recordings this season as I started last season, but ran into some issues.

Yesterday the American Hockey League annoced a few new rule changes. I know the overtime and fighting (Yzerman suggested it last year) ones have been considered by the NHL as well. This may be a test run in the AHL and could be something we'll see in the NHL for the future. Rule 85 (“Overtime”) During the regular season, the sudden-death overtime period will be seven minutes (7:00) in length, preceded by a “dry scrape” of the entire ice surface. Teams will change ends at the start of overtime. Full playing strength will be 4-on-4 until the first whistle following three minutes of play (4:00 remaining), at which time full strength will be reduced to 3-on-3 for the duration of the overtime period. If the game is still tied following overtime, a winner will be determined by a three-player shootout. Rule 20.4 (“Major Penalties”) An automatic game misconduct will be applied to any player who has been assessed two major penalties for fighting or three major penalties for any infraction in the same game.Rule 9.6 (“Helmets”) A player on the ice whose helmet comes off during play will be assessed a minor penalty unless he immediately (a) exits the playing surface or (b) puts the helmet back on with the chin strap properly fastened.http://theahl.com/ahl-board-approves-rules-changes-p192792
