    2012 Winter Classic, Jan 2.

It will never be Canada as long as they're their own country... They don't broadcast Versus/NBC there just like we don't broadcast TSN/CBC, and NBC gets $0 broadcasting revenue from a game being played in Canada.

The kid channels Mike Legg. Beautiful.

    Who Stays? Who Goes?

Haha I enjoy that the only people who still have no votes are Datsyuk and Helm.

    Homer wear #15

I believe the stat is 90% of Swedes speak English. Last year I was at game 1 of the Elitserien finals and someone said something offhand in Swedish, I said I only spoke English, and he said "Oh! Sorry, I didn't realize." Also, ARE YOU KIDDING: you remembered Woolley, Mironov and Gill, but forgot Pat Verbeek? 522 career goals

    Hockey players are the greatest

Respectfully, you have obviously never been to an important and closely played college basketball or football game if you think the crowd can't jolt the players like that. That's quite a statement to say that hockey players are overall superior to all other athletes because you don't see them being buddy-buddy like in the NBA and MLB... I'd say European soccer teams and fans are just as passionate. Also, what would you rather see in baseball? While in hockey we have players going as hard as they can for 30 second shifts, you have a guy standing on first base for 5 minutes. I think the argument you're trying to make is that hockey >> other sports.
  7. Pretty comparable: both were pure awesome. In my book that game 7 will rank higher until we find out what happens Thursday - I can still see Cleary falling over with his arms in the air after the final goal.
  8. I can say... that was absolutely incredible. I'm not sure how it compares on the all-time loudness scale because I've been blessed that the last 3 playoff games I've attended were this, Game 7 of the 2009 WC Semi's (Cleary winner), and Game 5 of the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals. I have to agree though, I'm not sure the last time I've seen a crowd and hockey team play that inspired.

    Chants

The best chants in college hockey are spontaneous, and with an arena for 20,000 people instead of 6,000 as at Yost, it would be very difficult to have effective planned chants. I don't see a need for Red Wings fans to copy U of M's chants. If you want chants, go to the games and start them based on what's happening on the ice. TODD BER-TUZZI appreciates you.

    Sharks or Preds?

Well, now the two can't be separated. HERE WE COME!

    Spent Monday at the Joe!

How is this not relevant to Red Wings hockey, especially over a week-long pause in the action? "Water Cooler: A clearinghouse for virtually all non-hockey related banter!" "General Discussion: Discuss the Detroit Red Wings, NHL, or hockey in general here!" Thanks for posting this in the RIGHT PLACE (!!!), this is pretty awesome. How long has he had the Mustang mask, I don't remember seeing it before?

    Sharks or Preds?

Nashville. Because: 1. West Coast Trips 2. If we play the Sharks next round, that probably means Vancouver the following round, and on paper Nashville then San Jose is easier than San Jose then Vancouver. 3. If we're playing Nashville, we arguably have the best division in the league with 3 of the 4 Western Conference remaining being from the Central.

    Lidstrom nominated for Lady Byng

Long overdue, you might say, but this is the SIXTH TIME he has been a finalist. Definitely deserving, but no one in this thread has mentioned he's actually been recognized for his 'gentlemanly play' in the past.

    TODD BER-TUZZI ! TODD BER-TUZZI !

This type of thing happens at the Joe when tickets become affordable for college students ($12 tix on stubhub for game 1) Not just to reply to myself, but I didn't read the second page of comments and I see I was right. That's... The Michigan Difference

    Free online streaming for playoffs?

Here's your answer: http://atdhenet.tv/ doesn't have all the streams, but it still exists, moving domain names overseas http://www.firstrowsports.eu/ has everything you could want, it's your best bet

    Congratulations to Zenon Konopka

I see you're in a very reminiscent mood about the 'good-ole days' today. I'll join. I remember when there was more than one Russian on the Wings... =(
  20. Maybe this doesn't relate to the Red Wings directly, but the Wolverines got dominated in every statistical category but still beat the best team in the country in the North Dakota Fighting Sioux, 2-0. Riley Sheahan wasn't able to lead Notre Dame to victory, losing their game 4-3. Bring on Minnesota-Duluth! NCAA Championship #10?

    Michigan-Minnesota Duluth in the Championship!
