RROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR monster road trip. thanks gary. ass.

Agreed, I actually kinda like Anaheim now, a couple of UofM guys on the team. I can't hold anything against them without Pronger there. They'll have to do something really dirty next April to regain hated status since every reason I remember us hating them revolved around Pronger in some manner..

we LOST!?!?!?!!?

Just remember: "In Slovak, boo means 'Go Marian, Go!'"

Zetterberg and Franzen just got sizable raises from their rookie contracts, so they are eating up a lot of the space that we would've had if they continued to earn a combined $3.5M or whatever it was. Because their combined salaries went up by $6M or so, we had that much less available to sign our other FA's and whoever else we wanted.
-
Looking at his stats from last year, I don't know how he got another NHL contract In 65 games he had 16 wins, 34 losses and 50 ties, with a 4% save percentage and a 44 goals against average. The Canadiens must've really loved him if they didn't shelve him 3 games into the season last year

I'm a level 102 now! Man, how much time I have wasted clicking.

I think this is probably his biggest fault here... How many players are drafted as actually NHL ready? I'd say the answer for each draft could be probably counted on one hand. What really is the difference between drafting a player and him turning out a great player through your system, and drafting a player that is an "NHL-calibre player?" The difference is immeasurable, which is why you cannot use statistics to make a point based on an assumption such as this.
-
He is absolutely NOT a product of the Red Wings system, he was projected to be a good player going into that 2002 draft; I still have a clipping from ESPN the Magazine in 2002 for their NHL draft preview (you know, the one page they devote to hockey), and they were saying that Hudler could be the second forward drafted after Rick Nash. That's quite high praise, and there are probably a ton of teams now that wish they would've drafted him instead of passing him up twice and letting him fall to 58th.
-
So you're saying the BJ's would be better without Nash in his prime?
-
Or trade him to Montreal for a prospect. Seriously, I don't know how New York got them to take Scott Gomez and his ridiculous contract, and if that contract can be traded, maybe Chicago even ends up trading Campbell to Brian Burke in Toronto.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
weGotTheCup89 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I still say that Hossa owes the Wings NOTHING AT ALL. If he wants to leave, it's his financial gain, but his loss in the way of reputation (still unfairly thought of as a mercenary) and very likely this is a fork in the road for his legacy, minutely similar to the fall that Fedorov's legacy took when he left here. I wish him the best, and if I'm at the Joe next year and we're playing against him instead of with him, I will stand and clap for him. -
you can sure sign ME for that much!

Uwe Krupp? He's coaching an Iditarod team? -
Hey, thanks again to whoever posted this event, it was really great! I got a puck, book from last year and the banner they gave out at the home opener signed by him.

Looks like fun, gotta do that sometime.

I do not know who will be backing up Osgood next year, but I truly, deep down believe that Jimmy Howard WILL NOT be playing for the Red Wings next year. I believe he will be waived or traded to another team. I've been looking forward to seeing him play for a while now, but he has shown nothing that gives me confidence that he will develop into the goalie we want him to be. With the other goalies in our system, I'm digging Jordan Pearce (though I don't think he'll see any team within the next 2 years), and that Swedish goalie is sounding pretty good. I'll take Conks back if he signs for the same price, otherwise, we can't afford it right now (which sounds like he very much may leave). Still, under $3M on Osgood and Conklin would be a great deal. I remember in the regular season thinking "Man, Osgood doesn't even need to recover the way Conklin is tearing it up every night (at home at least)."

How do you figure? The Jets played in Winnipeg through the 1996 season, and Gary Bettman became commissioner on June 1, 1993. Since we're in the A.D.'s already and not the B.C. anymore, 1996 came after 1993. Unless you imply that they decided to move the team 3 years before it happened? Please explain.

That book on the above link looks very interesting, I might go and buy it... but do you know about this book? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0771057717 It's the same as the other except it doesn't get published until October 27 of this year. Is it a new edition or just coming out in paperback for the first time?

I'm sorry if this is an obvious/already answered question, but if it sounds like Lilja isn't going to be ready to play for us in the fall, what happens with his contract and cap hit? Does that $1.2M count against us, or can we use that money elsewhere? Also, who do you see leaving or joining our defense corps for next year?
-
I mean, what's going to be remembered years from now is the Hossa saga that sadly and ironicly failed in bringing him/us a cup. For now I'll choose to remember Anaheim and Ozzie's amazing resurgence.

Thanks Matt, thanks for the wallpapers!

congrats, seeing that smug look on bettman's face during his speech made me wanna puke, but he and crosby are the only reason I dislike the pens. you outplayed us tonight and managed to win 4 of the past 5. this hurts a lot, but congrats.
