Well that's not a good way to start.

People are referring to Chicago as "one and done" because this is likely the best roster they will have for at least several years, so if they can't get it done this year it will be even harder in the future. They will still be good for some time to come, but unlikely that they will have this much talent at their disposal.

Good play by Homer and Fil. Nice to see someone getting those chances into the back of the net, too.

It's pretty unfortunate for Leino that this had to be his rookie season. Any other year he would have had a more consistent team to play with and not as much pressure on him, and he might have flourished. Still, Miller and Eaves came in and outperformed him, so there isn't a whole lot you can do to defend him other than say he still has potential (which the Wings can't really wait for unless the injuries stretch on).

A little bit. He is still a good defenseman, but he seems to make way too many mistakes (although that may be somewhat skewed by playing next to Lids, who makes so few it is a bit obscene, making it seem like Rafalski makes more). This is a tough season to be asking who is overpaid, since the team as a whole has not done very well.

Wings are still in 9th, tiebreaker goes to Calgary since they have 1 more win in the same number of games played.

Well 1 point is more than I expected from this game, so a minor success there.
