Sounds a bit like Lions fans to me... Not that the Lions have anything close to the amount of heritage and tradition the Leafs do. But there are SO many idiots that continue to fill Ford Field and buy season tickets and merchandise that the Fords are making a nice amount of money on them. Given that, they have no real care to make the team competitive, much less winners as they can just keep doing the bare minimum and getting rich from it.

I can't wait to get back to Detroit in a month! 2 and a half years in LA has eaten away at my soul!

At the start of this season, I'd probably have thought Lidstrom never stood a chance of even being nominated for another Norris. With the rise of Drew Doughty, Duncan Keith, Mike Green, Tyler Myers, Shea Weber, etc. I think most people feel Nick has sort of passed the torch to a new group of young, elite defensemen. But 7-10 games into the season, Lidstrom is tied for 2nd in points among defensemen and he's looked pretty fantastic. Doughty is out with a concussion and Keith, Green Myers are definitely not off to great starts. Even many of the NHLs other great veterans aren't producing much either. I wonder if there might be room for 1 more Norris on Nick's trophy case?? As of today: (GP) G/A - P Lidstrom (7) 1/7 - 8 Weber (8) 1/4 - 5 Boyle (7) 1/4 - 5 Gonchar (8) 0/4 - 4 Chara (6) 2/1 - 3 Myers (9) 2/1 - 3 Phaneuf (7) 0/3 - 3 Keith (10) 0/3 - 3 Bouwmeester (8) 0/1 - 1 Pronger (5) 0/1 - 1 Doughty (5) 0/1 - 1 Green (5) 0/1 - 1 Markov (0) 0/0 - 0 Right now, in terms of people near the top of the list, Nick is one of only 3 defensemen who are at above 1 pt/game. Just sent Fanatic U an email to see what they could do for me. SportsK quoted me a total of $47 for both emblems, all sewing and shipping. I don't have a problem with that price, just need to make sure they know what they're doing in regards to the patches.

I too will vouch for SportsK. Ordered my Franzen jersey from them, and I'm soon going to be sending it and my authentic Nike Vladdy jersey back into them to have the 1997 and 2008 Stanley cup patches sewn on. They do fantastic work at very affordable prices!

Unfortunately Ritola will have to clear waivers to be sent down (which means we'd most likely lose him if we did so).

Not really Helm related, but I was so excited when I saw this news (not that it's terribly surprising...) that I bought my yearly new Red Wings hat a bit early this year! Just ordered this bad boy!

I've been on a Caribbean cruise for the past week and a half and I had no internet the whole time. I'm completely out of the loop in terms of what's been happening in Red Wings land. I don't see anyone having signed in that time. So what's the current status of everything here? Any developments on Modano? Helm? Abby? anyone else? Thanks!

I think if we had a chance to get someone worthwhile in return for them, I wouldn't think twice about trading them. Just about everyone in the league is getting faster, younger, and stronger, and we're just not going to be competitive if we continue to let players that are older and largely ineffective finish their careers here just to be sentimental. I love Ozzy and Drapes, but they're not doing much for us at this point. Jimmy has clearly taken the torch from Ozzy and Helm, Eaves, and Miller basically made Draper invisible last year. If we could get someone worthwhile from trading one or both of them, I'd have no problem with it.

I knew I wanted a white Vladimir Konstantinov jersey for my next jersey, and I knew I wanted a Stanley Cup and/or VKSM Believe patch figured I'd have to go with a technically incorrect CCM jersey and just deal with it. But last week, I came across a size 48 authentic Nike home white Konstantinov jersey and I knew I had to have it! And I got a great deal on it too! CCM replicas with names/numbers/patches are selling for $175-200, and I got this authentic one for $200 so I'm very happy with the purchase! This is my first authentic jersey and I have to say, it is MUCH nicer than my CCM & Reebok replicas. The materials are nicer, feels like it's better put together, and I also noticed that the winged wheel has a bit more "give" in it than on the replicas, it doesn't feel as much like you've got a stiff piece of plastic on your chest or something like that. I really love this thing! So now I'm trying to figure out which patch or combination of patches to have SportsK add on for me! I know I want the VKSM Believe patch because it's unique, and really meaningful to all of us Wings fans. What I'm not sure about is whether to add a Stanley Cup Patch. I'd like to have the 97 patch as that's the one that Vladdy actually played in, but there was no VKSM patch then. I could also do the 98 patch as that would be more correct in that the team wore both, but Vladdy didn't play, and apparently no official Vladdy jersey was issued in 98. Please take a minute to vote in the poll and feel free to give me any insight on which patch(es) to go for!
