Ericsson being paired up with Lebda really is a recipe for disaster. They both like going up offensively and are prone to being a bit too agressive and getting out of position defensively. It's too bad we only have one Stuart and one Lidstrom because Ericsson, Lebda and Rafalski all need someone like that to watch their back.

It really isn't. Especially Ovechkin, who unless he starts getting in more injury trouble will probably go down as one of the best goalscorers in NHL history.

The funniest thing was the awkwardness of the guys in the studio when they cut the presser. This isn't something new from Torts, he always acts like an ass.

Saw the game this morning. I could see Minny's comeback coming, but damn those were some lucky goals they got. Nice shootout move by Pavel again, and that was really clutch by Flip and Miller to win it for us. Big 2 points, shame we gave them one as well, but if we beat the Kings we're in a good position.

Yeah he'll be too expensive most likely.. however since people around here seem to think there's a chance we could land Kovalchuk (lol), yeah why not? Marleu should be cheaper than him atleast.

We really have to win this one. I feel like I say that about every game nowadays but it's true. Pav and Hank will finally get the monkey off their back in this game and get the scoring going. 6-1 Wings, Pav and Hank with 2 each, Miller and Lids with 1.

Injuries are definitely a big reason to Pav's steep drop in production. If we had Franzen on his wing all year he'd probably have atleast another 10 assists. But you can't get around the fact that he just hasn't been quite himself offensively. Look at the Chicago game, in the OT when he stepped around a defenseman and took the puck to the net and almost scored. That's the kind of thing he has done very rarely this year, but did time and time again last season. Something about his confidence has been off. I'm with Babcock when it comes to the way the team is playing though. Despite these losses I haven't felt this good about the team all year. We outplayed both Chicago and Washington. If we keep that sort of play up there's no way we're missing the playoffs.

Hank and Pav have looked great the last couple of games.. seems like they're starting to find the magic again.

I'm afraid he might but he surely doesn't deserve it. I would be a plus player if I played all my minutes with Ovechkin and Backstrom.

I don't think they've had a lack of heart that often.. we've had a couple of complete failures like against the Islanders, but usually the team is working hard. Remember we've been playing with waiver-pickups and AHL-callups as 2nd liners this season. The games against Chicago and Washington weren't lost because a lack of heart, it was not converting on chances and a couple of individual mistakes.. coaching is not to be blamed, no one can turn s*** into gold or Drew Miller into Johan Franzen.

Yes Atlanta called me up just now, they say they were so impressed by Leino that they'll take him straight up for Kovalchuk. Sadly, they also said that you need to stop posting permanently for this trade to be approved. Hope you don't have a problem with that.

Agreed. We're creating tons of chances, but we're making everyone from Auld to Theodore look like Vezina goalies. Steve Mason is struggling this season? Nothing like a game against the Wings to make him look amazing again. Caps had like 2 and a half quality chances and they scored 3 goals. Wings had 10+ quality chances and scored 2 goals. That was the difference tonight, and it was something similar against the Hawks. Zetterberg needs to find his groove, he gets so many chances but rarely puts them away. Datsyuk isn't primarily a goalscorer but hell he's had 30+ goals the last couple of seasons, he can score more than he's currently doing. Franzen, where are you!?

Damn, we could have had 6 points these last 3 games. We probably should have. Instead we have 2. That is pretty damn hard to swallow. 3 straight losses is not good in the position we're in. Still, I like the way we're playing. Bertuzzi killed us with his penalty tonight, but we had so many chances to put the game away and we didn't. Guys need to score. Not blaming Ozzie for the loss but I'll happily see him ride the pine for another while. Just feel safer with Howard in net. I realize Ozzie hasn't played in a while and is cold, but we don't have to time to work him into things right now.

That little play from Hank to Eaves was beautiful.. I agree we need to score on the chances but I'm happy to see us start to create more quality chances and playing with a higher skill level.

That was a great shot by Cleary. Good to finally get a goal, hope the Wings keep this up and don't let the Caps get into the game.
