Good win by the guys. Never thought I'd say it but Bert was the best player on the top line. Nice pass to Hank for the tap-in goal. Howard played solid except for a couple of bad rebounds and especially the one on the goal. Ericsson looked good, love his puck-moving ability. Lids was shooting a ton which is awesome. Hank and Pav still have a ways to go before they're where they should be. Canes are a bad team. It's not hard to see why they're last in the league.

Flip is flippin' awesome. Can't say enough great things about how he's playing. He seems to be going to the net more than before too.

The Canes really are a terrible team. I know they have some injuries, but still they look really bad. Shame the Wings had to go and suck against the Isles because this could have been a nice winning streak going into some difficult games soon.. granted, I know there's one period left so a win here is not guaranteed but I can't imagine the Wings dropping this.

True, you can tell they're sort of trying to rekindle that famous chemistry of theirs. I think we're a stronger team when we play them on seperate lines though.. Hank has developed quite a chemistry with Cleary and Franzen, and Datsyuk has looked good with Bert and Homer.

What's been going on with the site? Anyway, good to see Lids score. I've felt it coming these last 30-40 games or so. Now Hank needs a goal too.

I could find video of Lidstrom being dangled really bad. It happens to the best of them.

Ericsson is much better than Lebda, Meech and Janik. This is great news. Some people make too much of the rookie mistakes Big E has been making this season. I hope Babs lets him play on the PP. I see no reason why he wouldn't, but Ericsson has barely gotten any PP time this season so you never know.

Damn, I remember that game last year when McDonald got the shutout. Must have been like the only time we were shutout last season? There's no excuse not to win this game. Wings have a tendency to play down to their opposition but can't afford to do that now. Wings 6-1. Datsyuk 2, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Helm, Filppula.

Howard to start vs. Isles, Big E eyes return vs. 'Canes

I see no problem with Howard getting the start.. There are no "easy wins" in this league anymore, and we still desperately need to win every single game. Good news about Big E, that's sooner than I thought. Good to hear Franzen's rehab is moving along nicely too.. I wish Kronner doesn't get bad news though, I'm afraid he could be out for a while. -
Isn't Ericsson supposed to return in like 2 weeks? Anyway I agree with Miller Brew, Kronwall is better at the moment but Ericsson has potential to be atleast as good.

This isn't an easy decision. Especially since he's got that whole elbow issue. And if there's one guy that has earned the right to be a little big selfish and being cut some slack, it's Lids. I'm thinking if we win the cup he'll retire (perfect end to a perfect career). If we don't he'll probably sign a 1 or 2 year deal at reduced cost. -
A team could set up a strategy where they have a couple of guys in the stands all aiming lasers at the refs' eyes so the players can do whatever they want. Of course, the refs are already blind so I'm not sure it would work but it's worth a shot.

Yeah calling Thomas a poor-man's Ozzie isn't exactly accurate.. In the playoffs MAYBE, but definitely not in the regular season. They have similarities though.

Well I definitely remember Hudler saying he didn't want to play for any other NHL team than the Wings and that was a big reason for why he chose the KHL instead. -
Just watched the game. Awesome stuff. Howard and Helm rules, nice goal by Datsyuk and Stuart is a rock on defense. As usual it's very funny going through this thread when you know the outcome of the game

His whole reason for going to Russia was that he didn't want to play for another NHL team than the Wings. So I doubt he'll come back if we say "hey come here so we can trade you!".
