Not surprising. Personally I think it's a terrible choice, but then again they don't have a lot of "captain material" on their team.
-
Damn, it would have been better if it happened in the playoffs instead of now.
-
Hart: Henrik Sedin (long shot, but he carried the team when his brother was injured and he's battling for the scoring lead in the league) Vezina: Miller Selke: Datsyuk (offensive production down but I feel he's better than ever defensively) Lady Byng: Datsyuk. Or why not LIDSTROM? Neither of them would even have a penalty minute this season if the refs were competent. Calder: Hmm, Bergfors could take it if he keeps up. Tavares is the favorite right now. Howard/Varlamov are contenders too, with J-Ho having an advantage since Varly has been injured and is playing on a better team. Jack Adams: Babcock. If he doesn't win it when he's got an all-star roster and wins the President's Trophy, then he should atleast win it if he gets an AHL team into the playoffs. Norris: Drew Doughty Ugh. Not only is he as bad as Lebda defensively ("rounding out his defensive side" my ass), he seems to be a complete ******.

It's been said before but we basically have a 1st line and three 4th lines. We just have to win this game and pray that Hank and Clears return next game.

Red Wings' Johan Franzen skates with team for first time

I was gonna say give Williams' good leg to the Mule and put him out on the ice. -
Honestly, we've been having a tough-ass time scoring for a while. I'd rather have Leino in there who might maybe possibly score. We're not getting out-muscled or pushed around by anyone.. with the lack of scoring we have I don't think we can afford to dress an enforcer over a (potential) scorer. And I have absolutely nothing against May.

Call me a pessimist but if we squeak into the playoffs as a 7th or 8th seed and have to face Chicago or San Jose, we're gonna have a hard time making it out of the 1st round. I know the Sharks have a history of choking, and the Hawks are still young and have Quennville, but they're both stacked beyond belief and showing no weaknesses so far. Sooner of later the Sharks have to succeed in the playoffs with the teams they have every year. And the Hawks made a good run last year and now they have that experience to build on. However, if we can have a strong last half and climb up to a 6th or even 5th spot, I could definitely see us making a good run.

Yeah I was thinking of the fact that there's a couple of years in a row here with either the US or Canada hosting it. Canada is a difficult team to beat anywhere, on any size rinks, but on small rinks in their home country it's close to impossible.
-
Not sure.. we were really, really close 2 years ago. Before that we haven't been close since that crazy talented team on which Forsberg set the point record. Something was very wrong with our whole junior system for quite a while, but it seem to be back on track now. A gold should come eventually. Maybe when the tournament is finally played in Europe again.
-
Yep, although it was mostly David Rundblad choking, with a bit of Markstrom (the 3rd goal..) too. Eh, I kinda had a feeling this year's team wasn't quite strong enough. I hope USA takes the gold.
-
Awesome. I've never seen that before, despite watching roughly 5 million different Pavel highlight vids on youtube. Love seeing Pav from back in his early NHL days.
-
Lids and Homer tearing it up. Love it. Sadly I have to go to bed, but I hope the guys keep it together and pull out a win.

kopecky has 2 goals tonight. edit: goal!!!!

Babs has the rare ability to be both scary and likeable. One of the very best coaches in the NHL today. Demands respect but does so without making the players his enemies. This season has been one of his toughest tests ever and so far I think he's doing a great job. If we manage to climb to a respectable spot in the western conference he should be one of the top candidates for the jack adams.
-
Honestly I really doubt that. Maybe in the playoffs they would do those kinds of things, but I think they're being honest about it at this point. Injuries and recovery from them aren't an exact science. It's hard to put a date on when someone returns.

I got nothing against May, but looking towards the future I think it's more important that Leino finds his game and gets ice-time than it is that May plays. May is going to retire soon. Leino, if he starts playing to his potential, could be an important player for us for many years to come.

What Five Current NHL Players Do You Like the Most?
dat's sick replied to Shady Ultima's topic in General
1. Nicklas Backstrom (not the goalie, the playmaker) 2. Zach Parise 3. Henrik Lundqvist 4. Daniel Sedin 5. Henrik Sedin -
Didn't say that it wasn't, it's just a funny comment to make when we have Osgood in a Red Wings uniform. Besides, he's a kid that lost his composure in one game because the Canadians were doing their best to get in his face. It happens. Doesn't make him any less of a promising goaltender. If you saw his play against Finland last night you'd never say no to having him play for the Wings..
-
Yes because Ozzie never, ever tried to sell a goalie interference... neither did like 95% of all other NHL goaltenders. And I'm sure no other 17-18 year old kid has ever done it either.
-
He's a kid, give him a break. And to be fair Canada had a pretty obvious tactic of running him in last year's final to try and get him off his game, which worked. I'm sure he's more mature and stronger mentally this year. He looks like an NHL caliber goalie already.

Imo he should be suspended a while.

It was in his 2nd shift of the game too

If he could play atleast a game or two before the Olympics and looked okay I don't see why they wouldn't take him over Modin..
