Really looking forward to both this game and the one against Toronto saturday. This is obviously the bigger test for the Wings, but both of them should be fun games. Sharks are playing good, they have like 6 straight wins I believe? Nabby is playing good, Marleu is on fire... shutting these guys down is a whole different thing than shutting down the decimated and struggling Bruins. If Raffi, Kronner and Ericsson are back it will indeed help. Hopefully Big E shows that our defense playing so good without him was a coincidence, and I want to see Ozzie put together another solid game. Z had an awesome game last meeting against the Sharks, he was great against the Bruins, and he usually steps up for these big games. 2 goals by him, 1 from Datsyuk and 1 from Bertuzzi for a 4-2 win.

.... not only is it a miracle if we make the playoffs this year, now we've only won 3 Cups the last 17 years? Man, things really are bad. I guess Hudler took that 4th ring and brought it over to Russia.

Put him next to Z on the 2nd line and maybe he'll start producing. I don't know why we're only playing with 2 guys on that line (Z and Cleary)? Why not have a 3rd guy too? ..or wait.. I think I saw someone skating up and down the rink at times last game. Is that maybe that Williams guy I've heard talk about? Either way, try Leino on that line instead of the 4th.

I could see Backstrom taking a bit of a discount.. they'll still have a ton of money locked up in those 3 guys though.

Anyone else getting a little tired of Ken Daniels' "datsyukian"-everything? "That's a datsyukian-deke", "a datsyukian steal", "what a datsyukian move that was!". I like the expression, Pavel should definitely have his own adjective, but he's overusing it. Definitely. Every time a game is not on FS Detroit we have to hear about how "active" the boards are, how the Wings can take advantage of that and how the other team has to adapt.

Look at the hit again if you don't believe that pic.. Ohlund's arms were down. If you want to prove YOUR point, this is not the hit to use as an example. Kessel most likely busted his lip on Ohlund's shoulder, a result of Kessel having his head down and Ohlund being a much bigger guy than him.

We are lucky the Bruins are also struggling and have some injuries on their offense, because otherwise we'd be killed going into the game with that defense. I'm thinking both goaltenders will stand on their heads, but Wings take it 3-2 in OT.

That's probably one of the worst hits Kronwall has done. Definitely leaves his feet. As for suspension I don't think so, just because he doesn't catch very much of him and also to me it doesn't really look like he hits Carter in the face with his elbow. It looks like Kronner's shoulder is what catches Carter's face, but it's hard to tell from the replays.

The kid should have protected himself better, but that was a careless hit no matter which way you look at it.

Definitely should be a suspension. But I wonder if Doan had been suspended if he did the same to Wiz? Booth probably would have been if he was the one who hit Richards instead of the other way around. The double-standard needs to go.

Jagr/Nylander/Straka was one of the best lines in the league for quite a while.. Nylander is a very good player if used correctly (Rags did a huge mistake trading him, if they hadn't they'd probably still have Jagr). He actually wouldn't be that bad on the Wings, he'd fit right in with the puck-possession style the Wings play. He'd definitely be an upgrade from Williams, but that's assuming we could get him for half or less his current cap hit.

I'm thinking Peter has his eyes set on joining the Avalanche. They've got a good team and cap space. Word is that is foot is better than it's been in many years, so hopefully that shouldn't stop his comeback attempt atleast.

While I agree Ozzie for the most part has been good, can you really blame such goals as the OT one against Phoenix on the team? Or the two quick ones against Vancouver? He has looked better than last year but like the team he has struggled to play a complete game. It was good to see him do that tonight

Not the most entertaining game, but exactly the kind of game I wanted to see. Solid 60 minute effort, good defense and goaltending. Sure, it would have been nice with some more offensive pressure and better PP, but these are the kind of game we have to learn how to win on a consistant basis. Overall nothing but positives, but as I mentioned earlier I don't think Williams is doing ANYTHING out there. I want Leino. Datsyuk and Zetterberg were amazing defensively, and Ozzie had a real bounce-back game. He looked calm and confident. Hope it's a sign of what we'll see from him from now on.

Phew. Thank god for that turnover, I don't know if I could have taken 1 minute of Flames pressure against our net.

Maybe the Wings have realized their passing sucks this year.. easier to just ice the puck? I mean, I like that they're playing safe and not giving the puck away.. but a 2-1 lead is a fragile thing.

I see Williams dressed up as a ghost for Halloween. He's even floating around out there, looks very convincing. Seriously, get Leino in there instead and these lines look good. Wings are playing good, hope they can keep this up for the full 60 minutes.
