I think Reilly will slow down along with the Avs (sooner or later). I see Gustavsson or Tavares winning it, with Duchene and Hedman being in the running too.

Hedman has been doing pretty well. He gets lots of ice-time and is playing in key situations, obviously does some rookie-mistakes but overall is playing solid. He hasn't showed much of his offensive capabilities, but I'm sure that will come as he gets more comfortable.

Caps could maybe take out the Pens. Rangers with a healthy Gaborik and Lundqvist on top of his game? Not impossible. But I think the Pens are the runaway favorite to win not only the East but the SCF as well. But many teams have been in that position and had 1st or 2nd round exits, so you never know.

Obviously the Captain has a role, but I think people overestimate it. Lidstrom is not the only leader on the team, and it's not like the other guys on the team are 10-year olds who need Lidstrom to tell them what to do and how to do it. What should he do? Punch Lebda in the face? Explain to Ozzie what the "five-hole" is? Yell at everyone for not scoring on their chances? Yeah chances are good that atleast one of these guys will turn into a solid NHL starter. I have no doubts that Larssson could step into Howard's place right now and do atleast as good as him, probably better.

Almost what I suggested. Except I forgot about Williams (easy thing to do) and Babs opted to scratch Leino in favor of him. As for Ville, I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to let him sit a game out. He has struggled lately and could use some time to think about how he's supposed to play. I'd really like to see him next to Zetterberg though.

May seems like a great guy and he actually is a decent 4th liner, but I can't say I've noticed some huge effect on how other teams play against us just because we have a fighter. After that comment by Upshall during the Phoenix game I sort of think that Kronwall's open ice hits are more intimidating than a guy like May, who mostly fights against other enforcers. Kronwall takes down anyone who has their head down, he doesn't ask them "wanna go?" and then hits them if they agree.

I'm not sure what you're asking.. are you asking would I still watch the games if I knew beforehand that they would miss the playoffs this year? In that case the answer is yes I would, and I would also put a s***load of cash on them missing it. There has to be some high odds on that right? I would still be a fan, just a rich fan. Or are you asking would I still be watching if the Wings turned into the Wings of the 70's/80's and constantly missed the playoffs? In that case the answer is yes. Only thing that could make me question my allegiance is if they traded away Datsyuk and Zetterberg for Chris Pronger, Tootoo and Corey Perry.

Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Cleary-Zetterberg-Leino Eaves-Helm-Draper May-Abdelkader-Maltby ZDH line would be nice, but I think that would make us too weak down the middle sadly..

Yeah even though I was disappointed with their efforts, they need to mix it up and shoot from time to time. But then again I think Pavel has had weak SO attempts for a while now. Almost ever since that awesome deke against Minnesota last year. Not sure if he has scored on the SO since then, but it feels like he hasn't. And I think I'd rather see Bertuzzi or Leino in the SO than Zetterberg.

Excuse me while I go slit my wrists What else can go wrong this year? Whatever the outcome of this season is, it's going to be remembered as one of the toughest seasons for the Wings in the last 20 years. Nothing is going to come easy it seems. Time for Datsyuk and Zetterberg to play like real superstars. Time for Bertuzzi to stop hitting posts, for Leino to show those 13 games last year wasn't a fluke, for Lidstrom to score on some point shots again and for Ozzie to give us goaltending. So many guys have to step up. They needed to do that before this, but now they REALLY need to.

I think there might be 2 reasons: * They are on a road-trip right now. I don't know how they usually do it, but it's sounds logical to think that they'd let him stay with the team the entire trip and then send him down. * Wings are struggling right now. They need all their best players, and they need to have competition for spots and to be able to have some choice in who plays any given night. If the Wings had 5 straight wins I'm pretty sure Abdelkader would be sent down.

Time for Euro Twin #2 to break out of his goal-scoring slump this game? I seem to recall Z always playing good against Edmonton, but maybe that's my memory playing tricks on me. 4-1 Wings. Howard with a great game but gives up one soft goal just to keep things interesting on LGW. Dats and Hank tear it up, with Holmstrom scoring 3 goals from deflections and rebounds.

Would have been great to see him in the Olympics. I don't care what rumors float around about how he is off the ice, that guy is the most entertaining goalie ever.

Osgood has played great in several games this season. It's just that the Washington game is the only one he hasn't let in atleast one complete softie. I definitely don't think this is the same Osgood that we saw last regular season, but it's not AS different as I was hoping. If Howard can keep playing like he did against the Nucks then maybe he can buy some time for Ozzie to work on reducing the mistakes and then we're actually gonna look decent as far as goaltending go.

Uh..yeah.. that's kind of the idea. To even the playing field, make the league more competitive and stop teams like the Wings from being at the top year after year. This would never work. Ovechkin at a less than 5 mil cap hit? It might not be a terrible idea if the cap reduction was like 5% though.

I'd rather be a loyal fan of a bad team than a bad fan of a good team.
