I was semi-kidding about the Lundqvist/Gustavsson combo, just because of the fact that Gustavsson is being so incredibly hyped right now (but seriously, did you see that save on Christensen's shot?SIIIICK). I would however take Lundqvist over Luongo any day of the week. I don't have confidence in Luo's ability to perform in big games. And Brodeur is still really good, but I think he might have his best days behind him. He hasn't exactly been money in his last few playoff appearances. Canada obviously has great goaltending, but at the moment I would take Miller or Lundqvist if I had to select one goalie for an Olympic team.

Excellent game. Most entertaining of the season so far I'd say. After that start in 1st period I didn't expect to feel this good about the outcome. Even after the 2nd period it felt like it very well could be another "good effort but not enough"-games that we've had a couple of in a row. But Datsyuk really came to life. I don't think he's been bad even when he hasn't been scoring goals, but that 1st goal of his really made me remember what he looks like when he's got some confidence. And after that goal he looked on fire. And Hank seemed to respond to it too. If that puck hadn't been on end on the 2-on-1 I'm sure he would have buried it. His goals will come. Solid effort by Howard, he really bailed out Osgood. If this game would have ended in a loss I don't think Ozzie would have slept very well. Filppula was awesome. Bertuzzi was great. Cleary was invisible but stepped up a bit in the 3rd period. Holmstrom? Once again showing how valuable he is. He should have a couple of assists tonight. Great goalie tandem, second only to 1) King Henrik 2) The Monster. Seriously though, both Miller and Anderson are sick right now. I'm sure Miller can keep it up, not as sure about Anderson though.

Soooo many giveaways.. Howard's playing good though. You may have been joking when you said that, but the funny thing is I feared this would happen the moment I saw he had cut his hair.. Mainly because (swedish soccer player) Zlatan Ibrahimovic had the lowest-scoring season of his career when he had a shaved head. The moment his hair grew out was the moment he started scoring goals..

Didn't look good. Hope Johnson is okay, hate to see stuff like that..

I was just gonna say before the goal: if ZDH don't show up after this start I'm gonna start losing faith. Good thing they immediately did. Also: Flip has looked ******* fantastic so far. Great puck control, great passing, great speed. Gotta say so far that line with Cleary and Bert is looking good. Leino and Filppula were good together but rarely amounted to much in terms of actual scoring chances, but already this line has created some. But: SOMEONE OTHER THAN HOMER OR THE GRINDERS NEED TO SCORE. Hank? That breakaway needs to be a goal dude.

I agree. You can just feel goals are not going to come easy. I want them to do fancy passing and dipsy-doodles until Luo is up in the stands buying foam-fingers, then put the puck in the net.

Well I'm realistic (unlike you) and I think there's a chance he'll land somewhere between 25-30 this year. If I was to guess I'd say he'll net 30+ atleast, but I wouldn't bet a ban on it. But since you seem to think he'll struggle to make it to 20 shouldn't you want to jump on that bet? And the reason I (occasionally) predict multi-point games is because I (unlike you) want the Wings as a team and the players themselves to do good. You see, I'm not clinically depressed (like you) and go around moping all the time, predicting the bad and hoping for the worst.

Hmm.. Luongo's been hot the last couple of games. Don't like how the Wings constantly run into hot goaltenders. Going with a 3-2 Win. Sammy with 2 goals, Zetterberg scores them all for the Wings.

Yep. This along with the fact that he gets a bigger role in New York and that it's a better city probably had SOMETHING to do with his decision. Some people play too much NHL10 and forget that there are a lot of different things that go into a player's decision on where to go.

Say what you will about their physicality, but there's a lot of skill on that team. I'm guessing it's pretty fun to see Weinhandl, Omark and Hudler together.

Kronwall's hit on Havlat was shoulder-to-body. Havlat had the puck between his legs and to me that is pretty much the same as possession of the puck, but whatever, possession of the puck is not the big issue here. The big issue here is that Richards barely made contact with Booth's body. He completely missed his shoulder, whether or not that was intentional or not I don't know, but hitting 90% head and 10% body is not okay. Take a look at Kronwall's hits again, you can argue that he leaves his feet or what not, but he doesn't go after player's heads.

We had enough chances these last few games to have 3 straight wins right now. Instead we have 3 straight losses. That's the way it goes sometimes, but hopefully the Wings luck will change at some point.

Good things to take from this game: Wings once again outplayed the Avs. They drew lots of penalties. Howard played great, although he got caught out of position on the 2nd goal. Bad things: Datsyuk and Zetterberg seems to have decided to not score any goals this year. Bertuzzi suffers from severe snakebitteniosis. PP looked kinda sluggish, not enough movement.
