Is it just me or is the schedule this year very strange? Probably cause of the olympics, but still.. lots of games some days, and then no games at all some days. And some teams have like 1 game in 8-9 day stretches (Vancouver for example). Anyway.. If anything, Leino should play with Datsyuk. Pav keeps setting guys up and no one can finish it off, but Leino has a good scoring touch. Datsyuk and Fil together would lead to a million passes but no shots. Filppula and Hank together could be really good though. Give Hank a chance to really be the goalscorer on the line. For now I think it's best to keep the Twins together though. They're going to score goals, it's just a matter of time.

uhhh other than the 1st game in Sweden, Ozzie has been good. Yesterday he was hung out to dry and maybe one or two goals at the most can be put on him. Against the Caps and Hawks he was fantastic.

Pretty soon our 1st line will be Maltby-Draper-Holmstrom and our 4th line Ryno-Ferraro-Chelios. Can someone stay healthy please? Datsyuk better not have a serious injury..

Great. Split up the two players who look like they have the most chemistry right now (Leino & Flip) and put Datsyuk with two guys that won't be able to score on his passes. I'd be pissed if Babcock gave up on the current lines because of one setback. Hank and Pav are showing signs of starting to connect again, pretty soon they'll be putting up points and winning games for us. The entire team, including defense and goaltending, looked great against the Caps. They know how to play hockey, they just haven't gotten into the groove of putting up 60 minute efforts on a consistant basis.

You play more games in the NHL if you play bad? This is amazing news to me, in sweden we have the opposite system, the better you play the more games you get to play until only the best team is left.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: go with 3 Wings players ONLY, even if it's just a one-man advantage. The Wings always play better when it's 3-on-5 instead of 4-on-5's. No seriously though, I think the PK has looked slightly better so far this year. For some reason goals are still going in, but overall they have better pressure and are not as passive.

I was afraid that the air kind of went out of the team a bit after the Game 7 loss. It felt like they deserved to win but various factors worked against them and prevented them from doing that. They fought so hard and came up just short, and I think some players feel fatigued at the very idea of what it takes to get back there again.

Meh. Just forget this game ever happened. They showed against a better offensive team on saturday that they still know how to play defense. Ozzie has actually looked good 3 games in a row, but tonight he was unlucky and hung out to dry. I'm not worried about this team. However I would really like to see Hank and Pav get a goal or two sometime soon. I don't think either of them is playing bad, but they need to lead this team and right now they just aren't.

Out of those 5 goals maybe 1 was a bit soft. And Ozzie did a couple of big saves to make up for that one. The last goal was 100% Kronwall's. What the hell was he doing? Ericsson and Meech haven't had a great night either, but that's too be expected from a rookie pairing. Now the other d-men I expect more from. Good news is that the Hawks came back from 5-0 yesterday, maybe the Wings can do something similar today.

Zetterberg needs to score. It was the same for him the first half of last year, tons of shots but he just couldn't score. That top line looks good, sooner or later pucks will start getting to the back of the net. Awesome hit by Kronner btw. Good to see him do that this early in the year. edit: also is it just me or did Cleary look really passive on that PK?

I think Daniel Larsson could become a really good goaltender for the Wings. And like everyone else I'm super excited about Tatar, he looked fantastic in pre-season.

It'd be great if guys like Kronwall and Stuart could be in "playoff mode" all year instead of sucking for 82 games and then being awesome for 20-ish games. I do think the Wings will have to grind out more 2-1 or 3-2 wins than usual this year. Especially with Franzen being out.
