Ouch. That's gotta hurt for him. Not that I've seen the games, but it seems like he couldn't really have played much better than he has.
-
Just throw Z, Lidstrom and Ericsson out there. Even if it's a 5 on 4. The Wings play better when 2 men down than with just 1.

Lidstrom selected as hockey's Athlete of the Decade
dat's sick replied to Cruiser008's topic in General
Kaka played in Sao Paulo until 2003. His first couple of seasons in Milan were good but he wasn't really one of the top 3 players in the world at that point. Messi is better than Kaka, CRonaldo is comparable (but I agree not as good). Kaka is one of the best players of the last 5 years, but not really the decade. Casillas is incredible too, but I'd argue that Buffon has been a little more dominant, and he has a slightly more impressive resume (such as 7 goalkeeper of the year in Serie A since 1999, would have been 8 if not for Juve's demotion to Serie B). And I'd argue that the goalkeeper has an almost bigger role in soccer. One mistake is so much more costly in soccer since so many games end 1-0 or 2-1. Goalies in soccer usually don't get enough respect. -
Lidstrom selected as hockey's Athlete of the Decade

I would say someone like Buffon. He's been probably the best goalie in the world for most of the last 10 years. Kaka has been among the best in the world for maybe 5 years, Messi has been the best for 2-3years. Ronaldinho was the best for about 3 years. -
For one they're completely unrealistic. No Maltby, Draper or Homer? Sorry man, no matter how much you don't like it, they're all going to be on the team this year. Maltby might split time with Eaves though. Then you have Leino on the 4th line, which would be a waste of talent and waste of his chemistry with Fil. But those lines work great in NHL10, I'll give you that.

Lidstrom selected as hockey's Athlete of the Decade

I think it's between Lidstrom, Tiger Woods and Roger Federer, but I'm not so sure a lot of people would agree with that either. He could (maybe should) have won a Norris or two more, a couple of Lady Byngs, and maybe even a Hart and another Stanley Cup. Had he done that I don't think many people would argue that he's one of the top 3 athletes of the decade, but sadly he's been a little bit overlooked despite all his Norris trophies. -
I was going to say that topsideplaya's lines were the worst ever, but then you posted these right after and took the crown right away from him. Leino shouldn't be on the 4th line, neither should Williams. Abdelkader ideally shouldn't play Wing, and Filppula damn sure shouldn't. Helm isn't a 1st line NHL center. Maybe one day if he keeps improving, but right now he's a 3rd or 4th line player. Tootoo?? Now I know you're a joke character. That 3rd D-pairing would get destroyed. Kindl isn't good enough to play in the NHL. And if he was going to be on the Wings this year it would be insanity to put him next to Stuart. I'm sure you would want McCollum to be our starting goalie too, right?

Come on Z.. get healthy.. also, Jonas Gustavsson might play either on Friday or Saturday against the Wings.

You do know he's had like 17 surgeries on his foot? During his time with Philly, Nashville and the latest stint with the Avs he was not himself in terms of skating and he fell down a lot because of his foot. He probably had issues much earlier than that, but somewhere around the Philly time is when it got really bad. And one of the reasons he's had so much injuries is because he played in a time where skilled players had to skate around with backpacks on them the entire games. Eventually that gets annoying so I'm sure he's gone down easy a few times to draw a penalty (just like so many players do, not only Crosby), but in general he's one of those players who rather stands up and tries to do something with the puck than to try and dive. But I'm not expecting objectivity about a former Avalanche player on a Red Wings board, so whatever. Funny Red Wings fans are pretty much the only ones who are convinced he's a cheap-shotting, diving punk who "always sucked and always will"... Personally I have nothing but respect for most of the old Avalanche players, the only exception being youknowwho.

Apparantly Washington and Philly are the top two clubs on his list if the foot works this team and he can play. You can't tell me that Forsberg wouldn't be a pretty good replacement for Fedorov. What a team they would have. And Philly might actually be a contender if they added him. Good quote from an interview in Aftonbladet today: "-There are those who think I'm stupid and say I'll fail, but I don't give a damn about that. If I've made nine comebacks I might as well do ten. That's how it feels for me. I'm not trying to fool anyone and I don't know how it'll go this time. I don't have any big hopes on myself and I'm not trying to hide it." Just saying, that if he's such a big diver it's weird that there's no video evidence of it. Besides, I've seen Forsberg play a zillion times and never noticed him dive. Although for a number of years he's had trouble with his foot, causing him to have balance and skating issues. Maybe some are confusing him simply losing balance with diving, I don't know.

Keep taking whatever meds you're on, because they seem to be working. Doesn't it feel good to let go of all that hate?
-
That vid directly contradicts the idea of him being a diver. Not that I have any clue why he's gotten that rep by some. "Peter Forsberg Dive" gives one result on youtube: As for the cheapshots, it's the same thing that all skilled players get accused of if they have a physical edge too. Datsyuk, Malkin, Ovechkin etc. have all been accused of it.

hockeystreams.com - Feedback, worth it? Etc.
dat's sick replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Works great for me. There's the occasional problems with the site but 95% of the time it works flawlessly. As far as stream quality goes you won't find any better. The HD streams are of course far from real HD quality, but more than good enough for me atleast. Archived games is a great feature too. -
Some young unknown, #18 I think. Looks like a keeper!

Well as my grandma always used to say: "better to install sopcast one time too many". she was way ahead of her time.
-
But have you tried installing sopcast??

I love Tatar. Yeah he might still have some things to learn, but he's got great skills and always seems to make the right decisions with the puck. Let him spend a year in GR and bring up to the big club next year!

Predict total goals the Redwings will score this season
dat's sick replied to 19Wingsfan4ever's topic in General
total goals scored: more than 4, less than 400 pk goals given up: 12 -
Finnish connection! Those two are going to tear it up this year! Great shot by Leino!
-
Yeah Gaborik is an amazing player when healthy. Larsson hasn't had a good start to the game, but on the first goal there was two wings screening him and on the second he was hung out to dry.
-
I was just thinking that Too bad we don't still have the Grind Line, the two would complement eachother beautifully.
-
He's too cold when he's cold, that's what makes me think he can't score 50 goals. But when he's hot, he's red hot. If he could have one or two 20 game streaks during the season like he has in the playoffs, with like 15 goals in each, he could reach 40 easily.

Kronwall says playing in Sweden will be 'surreal'

Better yet, you should become a hockey player! Like Pasha said, they have front row seats for every game, with free drinks
