I think a lot of you are making the trip to sweden into a much bigger deal than it really is. I think it will be nothing but a positive thing for the team. Something that could possibly get the team off to a flying start, kinda like the Winter Classic seemed to make the Wings turn off the cruise-control for a while. I think they'll get some extra days off, so the extra travel shouldn't be an issue. For a free agent I can't see how it could possibly have any weight, atleast not in a negative way. btw, the rink will be NHL sized.

This was pretty expected, and imo the best decision for him. He's got a good chance of either getting the starting job, or atleast splitting starts with Toskala. Toronto looks like they could have an interesting team as well, they might be on the way up.

No you wouldn't. You think you would, but you wouldn't. Not saying there aren't NHL players that go on the internet and check out some message boards and stuff like that, but most of the time it wouldn't make you feel the least bit good about yourself and I think most players maybe do it a few times and then realize it's better to just stay away from places like this. Imagine if Ozzie had visited this board at any point during this season? Nothing but "Ozzie sucks" and "Get a real goaltender!!" threads. Or if Stuart had come here after the SCF. He'd kill himself after reading some of the stuff people wrote. Maybe if you're more of a no-name player it would be more fun. Or when you're new in the league. Or if you have a massive ego like Ovechkin. But these people aren't like you me who get all excited if we get our picture in some local newspaper. They don't have to scour message boards for comments about them.

And why the hell would he respond and give out the names of his neighbours and their kids? I would think that's the last thing he would do. If this is all it takes to bring Chris to a message board and make him respond, he should be here constantly trying to "clear the air". That post reads exactly like something a 15-20 year old would imagine a player would write if they came onto a message board. Fake. I know you all want to think there's a chance that the players read msg boards and that there's a chance they'll even post, but really.

The good thing about Meech is that he can act as a 7th D-man and a 13th forward at the same time. Lebda or Lilja will be traded most likely. But I agree that it's a little bit hard to see how we're going to be able to sign Hudler. He would have to take a big, big discount.

If he just had a little more speed and explosiveness his size wouldn't be as much of a problem. Lack of size + lack of speed = easy to stop. He has great skills though, and his shot is actually not that bad. I would definitely not call him a product of the Wings system. He's probably a player that could bloom if he was on a team that really believed in him and gave him a lot of ice-time with good linemates. On a team like the Rangers he could do wonders I think. I'm not sure if they're interested, but they should be. Put him on the 2nd line there and the 1st PP unit and he'll get 70+ points for sure. Hope we keep him though.

This. I'm a big defender of Sammy and think he's been an AWESOME value for us the last couple of years, would have wanted him to stay for 1.5-2.0 mil, but no more than that. Glad he went to Vancouver and not to a division rival like everyone else. Plus I would love to see a Sedin-Sedin-Samuelsson line. Wish him the best luck. I'm going to miss him. Atleast he can't stink up our PP anymore.

Great news about Leino. I'm really excited to see how he does with a full NHL season. $2.5M at the least for Hudler?? I was hoping we could get him for about 2 mil. Hmm, not sure how I would feel about paying Huds 3+ mil. He's worth it on other teams, but maybe not here.

Yeah 80 points is maybe a bit optimistic, but it also depends on what lines they'll go with. Put him on a 2nd line with Franzen and Filppula and I think he could do some great things.
