Calgary's first round pick. But the funny part is that he seemed to think the SEL is not pro hockey.
-
That analyst on the NHL network just said that Erixon should stay in the SEL another year, "he's not ready for pro-hockey". LOL.
-
The Oilers treat Omark like s*** because he's too small, and then they draft Rajala who is smaller and weaker?
-
Hm, sounds like a nice pick. Big guy, shoots right, some goal-scoring ability. Rajala must have really scared everyone away at the combine.
-
Tatar? Interesting..
-
Rajala I hope, if he's left by then.
-
Well, they're certainly moving a lot faster than yesterday. Klingberg to the Trashers. Maybe Rajala is still left when it's time for the Wings again?
-
I for one really hope the Wings draft him. If the Isles don't get him first.

Wings Trade thier first round pick to Tampa
dat's sick replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
The Wings will never be able to draft any good players later than the 1st round. This is a proven fact. -
Or what a fantastic move it was. Just wait until our pick 75 becomes another Selke Winner and Ashton turns out to be nothing.
-
That's because it isn't. I can promise you there's not a single "Setterberg" in Sweden. I think Erixon is a just a modern variation of Eriksson, there are a few variations of it. Another Swede picked. I like this. With Sundin, Forsberg, Lidstrom etc. on the way out, we need new guys to come in and take over. Swedish hockey's future looks bright.
-
No. Swedish is the same language family as German and such languages. Finnish is basically in it's own category, different from almost anything else. Weird move by the Isles. They could have probably picked the same guy with their 16th pick. Guess they didn't feel like waiting around.
-
Damn, I didn't want MPS to end up in the Oilers. Don't like them after how they handled the Omark situation, and I don't trust their ability to let players mature and develop in their own pace.
-
I was dreaming of that myself But I don't think there's any chance he'll slide that far. He'll probably be somewhere in the next 5 picks or so. I'm surprised he hasn't been picked yet, but I guess teams aren't really looking for a guy that won't be ready for the NHL for a couple of years. But I feel he's going to be an incredible player eventually.

there's nothing better than bettman getting booed. never fails to put a smile on my face.
-
Haha perfect, I already hate the flyers so I don't have to feel conflicted about this
-
It really hasn't dragged on that long. The cap for next year was just revelead like an hour ago, and Holland has repeatedly said he was going to wait for that number before making any moves.
-
I was hoping (dreaming) that it'd go up by a bit more, a mil extra would have been awesome. But the important thing is it didn't go down.
-
This. Either sign him with a 4 mil cap hit or don't sign him at all. I dread waking up one of these mornings and seeing the headline "Hossa signed 8yrs at 6mil cap hit". Which would mean Kenny would have to move a significant piece(s) of the lineup to make room. If Marian isn't willing to sign the kind of contract that brings his cap hit down, save the money and spend it on retaining Hudler, Sammy and having some space to make adjustments.
-
If it was to go up slightly it would be huge for us. I think we'll be fine in 2010-2011 even if the cap goes down significantly for that season, because we'll have a lot of contracts coming off the books (Lids, Malts, Draper, Homer), but right now we need every little penny in order to keep as many guys as possible.
-
I could see him in a Rangers jersey. They need some offensive firepower.
-
It'd be sweet to see Team Canada face Team Sweden
-
Haha come on He has .001 better Save %, worse GAA, less shutouts and less wins. Mason has better stats, but I could go as far as saying they're about the same.
-
I don't know how Rinne playing LESS games means he played better? If he had 10 games more played his stats might be a little bit better or a little bit worse, but you said "Rinne owns Mason in pretty much every category" and to me that sounds like there should atleast be a visible advantage for Rinne when in fact the opposite is true. You can't just assume those 9 games less played would have been shutouts for Rinne. But since you like talking about games played, why not take that into account when looking at Kipprusoff? The guy played 76 games this season, the most of all goalies, and posted 45 wins. Calgary only won 1 of the 6 games he didn't play. I'm sure if he played only 50-60 games (like Thomas, Osgood, Luongo etc.) he could have a lot better numbers, and maybe have som juice left for the playoffs. But how many goalies can play that many games and maintain a somewhat consistant level? Lundqvist, Backstrom, maybe Brodeur? Luongo might be able to, but he only played 50-something games this year. Cam Ward plays a lot of games too and does it well. That imo is part of what makes those guys valuable. The guys that had better numbers than Lundqvist this year all have one thing in common (except for Backstrom): they played significantly less games than him. And that's despite Lundy, like I've said earlier, not having a great year by his standards.
