And the Penguins are playing for the Stanley Cup!
dat's sick replied to BewareThePenguin's topic in General
If you don't see the difference between Fedorov leaving the Wings and Hossa leaving the Pens.. then I don't know what to say. Now, if Malkin stays on the Pens for about 6-7 more years and wins 2 or 3 cups in that time, and then leaves for another team because he doesn't want to be "that other superstar on Crosby's team", then you have a similar situation. -

His decision to come to Detroit has obviously already been proven to be a good one. Getting within one win of the cup? Yeah, he was a moron for thinking the Wings had a better chance of winning the cup than the Pens.. even if the Pens end up winning, you can't say he made a bad decision. He couldn't know that Therrien would be fired mid-season and that they would make several deadline-moves to completely turn around a team that was on it's way to missing the playoffs. Those things might not even have happened if Hossa had stayed. If the Wings had missed the playoffs, or had an early exit, then he would have been regarded as a moron. Now he's just a guy that knew what he was doing, and either succeeded in his attempt to win the cup or came very, very close. The Wings got 2 chances to win the cup. They failed on the first attempt, but still has one left. The Pens got 1 chance to win the cup. Now, doesn't that mean the Wings got a better chance of winning the cup? -
It's a game 7 in the SCF. Both teams have a 50% chance if you look at it realistically. A bounce or a bad call can decide the game. Maybe the Wings have a slight edge because they have home-ice, but I expect the game to go to OT and a silly goal to decide the whole thing. Hopefully the silliness is in the Wings favor.
-
Imo the 1st period will decide Game 7. If the Wings can't get started on time in what could be the biggest game they'll ever play, they're not going to win it. I'm calling it right now, whoever scores first on Friday wins the cup.
-
The Game 5 loss in last year's SCF was a much, much tougher loss than this one, and they managed to rebound just fine from that. I'm nervous, a Game 7 can very well come down to one lucky bounce or a bad call, but I don't doubt the Wings ability to shake this loss and get ready for Friday.

It hurts that there should have been a penalty on the Pens 2nd goal.. and that the Wings didn't bring much effort in the first 2 periods. Anything can happen in a Game 7. It'll be nerve-wrecking. But fun. And I think the Wings will take it. Oh, and Zetterberg was awesome tonight. Him and Ozzie, Cleary and maybe Datsyuk (considering his injury) were the only ones who really played liked they wanted the cup tonight. Gah.. another 2 days to worry and speculate and be nervous. I feel like this playoffs has aged me 15 years.

HIT THE NET.. God.. "wide of the net" are the words I hate hearing the most. Those 2 PP's might have been our chance. There's still time though.. GO WINGS!
-
With any luck, the Pens will start playing not to lose in the 3rd, giving the Wings a chance to get into the game. Thanks to Ozzie, it's still a 1-goal game. Anything can happen.

This series is going to a Game 7. The Pens can do whatever they want without being called for it, and the Wings aren't getting enough offense 5-on-5 to overcome it.
-
Kronwall scares the s*** out of me when he's out there. He doesn't seem to be friends with the puck at all. Pavel looks good, as does Z and Cleary. Want to see more of Hossa and Franzen. We need to stay out of the box, and maybe the refs could give us a PP? Hopefully the Pens will slow down a bit now, so the Wings can get some offense going. We're a bit lucky to get out of that period 0-0, but on the other hand we had some good chances. GO WINGS!

Important PK here. Obvious, and stupid, penalty by Fil. Those are usually the ones that hurt you.

Yeah, but it's far from "true" HD though. It's just a very good quality stream. I'm not an expert on the matter, but I don't think live streaming of HD material is really possible yet. It would take a ton of bandwidth.

What if these are the good ole times..

I think It'd be cool if Homer, Maltby and Draper are the first ones to lift it after Lids. You know, the guys that have been there from the "beginning" and for whom this would be the 5th cup. Ozzie, Hank and Hossa have to be good candidates of getting the first handoff as well. But that's a later question. They need to win one more game first.. I think this one will go to OT. 3-3. Hossa with the Cup Winning Goal.

This. Can't believe some of you actually want LESS hockey. Not only that, but less PLAYOFF hockey. Now I'd be all for reducing the regular season lenght a bit, but for god's sake keep the playoffs the way it is. In my mind there's nothing better in the world of sports than the NHL playoffs, except maybe the World Cup in soccer. It has felt like a long run though, and I think part of the reason is that the schedule has been so bad. Lots of time off during the first 2 or 3 series, and then they had to squeeze in the SCF in about 10 days to avoid it running into July.

Dan Bylsma said "Lindstrom" in one of his post-game pressers earlier in the series :/ -
Hulu currently showing Game 6 of 2008 SCF

I hate Hulu. It's 2009, how can you have region-locked content on the internet? -
We'll see how Game 6 pans out. If Malkin has a big game and the Pens win, I'm sure he'll get it even if the Wings end up winning Game 7. If the Wings win and Malkin doesn't have atleast a hat-trick, Z or Ozzie will take it.

This. What if the best defensive d-man also has the most points? He'd then get 3 awards instead of 1, which I guess is nice for him but I think it's enough with just the Norris. I'd like to see a "Nick Lidstrom Trophy" handed out to players that have maintained a high level of play and professionalism for many years. Or something like that. More of an honorary award than something with 3 nominees every year.
-
It would be sweet to win it at home, but I don't want a Game 7. Knowing that the entire season can come down to a lucky bounce or a bad call would be too much for my nerves to handle. I definitely hope they close it out tomorrow.
-
I don't see anyone else in the league who is making 6.7 million a year and is nominated for the Hart, Selke and Lady Byng trophies. Hell yes he is one of a kind. Just like Ovechkin is. Just like Fedorov was. These aren't players that you can replace just like that. These players don't come around all the time. Datsyuk has his own style, he is easily recognizable and he has a toolbox that is out of this world. Take into account his background, and that he was a very, very late draft pick that nobody expected to become much of anything and what you have there is a One Of A Kind player.

It's a tough decision. Having them on seperate lines would help in shutting down both Malkin and Crosby, but they're so good together and obviously want to play together so it's not easy to split them up. Having them on the same line really forces the Pens to think defense, which I like. Keep them together I say.

Hank is the heart of this team. With Pavel out, he's been the one we've relied on. Look at those saves he made in the crease in Game 1 and 2, when Ozzie was beaten. Look at how frustrated he's got Crosby. He's the MVP in my eyes. That said, I have some money on Ozzie winning the Smythe, and I think he's been amazing as well. Let's just win the cup and I don't care if Lebda wins MVP.
-
Let's win the cup first, then we can all be speechless when Crosby wins the Smythe.

Haha Pavel "maybe alcohol has percentage"
