WCF GAME 3 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Blackhawks 4 (OT)
dat's sick replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Hopefully the extra day off has helped the Wings regain their legs. The Hawks will be in desperation-mode tonight and won't be easy to stop. 4-3 Wings, possibly in OT. Mule and Hossa with a pair of goals each. -
Yep. Those two are what's scaring me about the Pens right now. Their team as a whole isn't impressive at all, and Fleury mixes great saves with soft goals, but the way Sid and Malkin are playing they can win games for their team all by themselves. Although to be fair they haven't gone up against a defensive line like Franzen-Z-Cleary and d-men like Lids and Raffi in the playoffs. Far from it actually.
-
Have anyone else noticed that all of Crosby's goals are from the exact same position? Slightly to the side of the net.
-
Great defense on display in this game.

Go Canes! Whoever wins this series I want it to go to 7 games.

"No Elite Goaltending Left In The 2009 Playoffs"

Wow. That's the most stupid thing I've read in a long time. -
That would be a big loss if he misses Game 3. However I have no doubt that the Wings could beat the Hawks without him.
-
I don't like Byfuglien but other than him I think they're a pretty "likeable" team. I guess that's one reason to why I'm not as nervous in this series as I was in the Anaheim series. Being knocked out by the Hawks would not hurt as much as if the Ducks had beaten us.
-
I would not be surprised AT ALL if Crosby wins the Conn Smythe even if the Hawks/Wings win the cup. As long as the Pens make it to the finals that is.
-
Datsyuk has 7 points (1+6) and is a +4. Zetterberg has 16 points (7+9) and is a +12 (2nd overall after Cleary). Pavel has played better than his numbers indicate, but don't kid yourself. They're both playing good defense, but Z is getting most of the heavier defensive assignments and he has also gotten things done offensively. Take away his 4 empty netters (don't know why you'd do that since those are important goals as well) and he still has significantly better numbers than Pav. I could probably agree that Ozzie, Franzen and Lids are all ahead of Z in the MVP race on the Wings, but I don't think Cleary is. And definitely not Stuart. This isn't the "biggest positive surprise of the playoffs"-award.

This one made me LOL. Mike Babcock hat-trick: 1. Put Sammy on the PP 2. Split up Zetterberg and Datsyuk 3. Still win the Stanley Cup (hopefully)
-
Other than the last 3 games in which he has been fantastic, Cleary has been "just" good. I can promise you this team would be in bigger trouble if Lids got hurt than if Cleary got hurt.
-
1. Osgood - What can you say. He's the man. 2. Lidstrom - Put in Cheli or Meech instead of Lids and this team would be in serious trouble. 3. Franzen - With Hossa and Datsyuk struggling, Franzen playing this good has been huge. Honorable mention: Z. Always brilliant defensively and he has produced offensively as well. EN goals are goals too.
-
And what a great pass it was. Lids is the king. It feels strange to think of the day he will no longer be on the team.
-
Fans of every team thinks the refs are treating them badly when they lose. Hell, Pittsburgh fans even thought they were being screwed over by the refs in the Washington series, despite the Pens winning and having like 10-15 more PP's than the Caps in that series. The officiating has been bad in the playoffs. This series is no exception, but for once I think neither team has really gotten it worse than the other. The Wings have simply been better. If you give the other team a 3-on-1 in playoff OT you don't deserve to win.

He should start posting on LGW during games Or maybe he already is...
-
He was directly responsible for the Hawks 1st goal, but he chose a good way to make up for it

WCF GAME 2 GDT: Blackhawks 2 at Red Wings 3 (OT)
dat's sick replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
The 3rd line had a couple of great shifts in the OT, only fitting that they got the GWG on such a beautiful play. Once again our depth is too much to handle for the Hawks. This wasn't Hossa and Datsyuk's "breakout" game, but I thought they showed some promise tonight. Next game? Ozzie was awesome tonight. That is all, good game, good win, good night. -

If anyone is going to do it for the Wings, it will be Franzen or Cleary. I think the Wings deserve a win. They've had the better chances in the game, but have been robbed by posts and Bulin. In OT anything can happen though.. GO WINGS! -

1/2 so far this game. That's decent I think, but I'm no expert. -

He had the first penalty and joined the kill when it expired. -

Rafalski got the goal I believe. But that line has looked good. -

That was a great kill until Sammy (who shouldn't be killing penalties) came out of the box and had like 10 seconds and tons of space with the puck but just managed to pass it to the Hawks defenseman.
