It's hard to imagine that the Hawks will be as difficult as the Ducks.. I hope they're not. They're probably a deeper team offensively, and Khabibulin is playing good, but they're defense is not as HUGE as the Ducks'. I'm expecting a much bigger series for Datsyuk and Hossa, and that will be the difference. Wings in 5.

You're my favorite type of fan, classy both in victory and defeat. Even though a game 7 is a tough way to go out, especially when it's this close of a game, I have to assume that you're pretty happy with the Ducks season? For a long while it didn't look like they'd even make it in, and to then defeat the no.1 seed and push the no.2 seed to the brink of defeat.. that's impressive. I would not be surprised at all if the Ducks are one of the top Cup-contenders next season. If they can add a little more 2nd/3rd line depth they'll be hard to stop.

GDT 2009 WCSF GAME 7: Ducks 3 at Red Wings 4

I have to get up early tomorrow, but I won't be able to sleep for hours This feels like the weight of the worlds off my shoulders.. I can handle it if the Wings lose against the Hawks, but the Ducks.. with everything that's been going on in this series, this is as good as winning the cup (almost). Man, Hawks-Wings series is going to be so much fun.- 1,913 replies

I don't like this at all. The hockey gods seem to be on the Ducks side tonight, one bounce and they're through.. Wings have to SCORE ON THEIR CHANCES. DO IT.- 1,913 replies

Atleast the guys in the TSN studio agree that the Hudler call was maybe the worst Goalie Interference call ever. Doesn't help us, but it's good to know the entire hockey world isn't on the same drugs that the refs seem to be.- 1,913 replies

I can't believe how awesome Mule is. Regardless of the outcome of this game, he is one player that no one can have any complaints about. Babs line-changes look pretty good so far. Draper's line has looked good, and Datsyuk's had some really nice movement in the zone. So far so good. Now stay out of the box and score a couple more. Please.- 1,913 replies

You know, I would pretty much be fine with the Wings not winning the cup this year (after all it's tough to repeat), but I just don't want to miss out on a Hawks/Wings series now that it's so close. It would be so awesome.

I'm calling it right now: whoever scores first, wins the game. Wings HAVE to get a good start. No more of that "coasting through first 40 minutes and hope a good 3rd is enough"-crap. First drop of the puck is when the game STARTS. Come on guys, I know you can do it.- 1,913 replies

I think Babs should do what Carlyle did before Game 6.. have the players eat pizza and enjoy some not-too-serious activity to loosen them up and get their minds off the gravity of the situation. Especially Datsyuk. He just seems to be thinking too much. However, I couldn't care less if Datsyuk doesn't get any points tonight, as long as the team wins.
-
Worst game 7 ever? I jokingly said to a couple of friends before the game that the Pens would win 7-1. Never did I imagine that I would be this close to being right. Hopefully the Wings-Ducks won't be this one-sided.. or if it is it will be in the Wings favor.
-
He doesn't look like he's been troubled by an injury to me. It looks like he isn't really confident when he shoots, and he's sometimes overworking situations. I really hope we get by the Ducks, because I think he could have an absolutely huge series against Chicago.
-
True. I think part of it was because of the ice, it seemed to be terrible.
-
The Ducks only scored 2 goals in Game 6. The biggest problem for the Wings is to get some scoring. Our defense and goaltending has looked solid, despite Getzlaf picking up some points (mainly on the PP).
-
It was pretty funny last year when Brodeur refused to shake Sean Avery's hand Don't think anything like that will happen after this series. Although if I was a Wing I'd find it hard to shake the hand of many of the Ducks..
-
If Datsyuk played against a team with the same kind of defense as the Caps/Pens, he would have 15-20 points. That's not really an excuse, he should be able to find a way to get it done against the Ducks as well, but atleast we can take comfort in knowing that if we get by the Ducks we've gotten past probably the best defense that is left in the Playoffs.
-
It would be interesting to see: Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Franzen Hossa-Filppula-Hudler Cleary-Helm-Leino Samuelsson-Abdelkader-Maltby But I seriously doubt they'd bench Homer, unless he's injured.
-
wait... you had respect for any player on that team except for Selanne?
-
Of course we can. The fate of the Wings is entirely in their hands. All they have to do is play the full 60 minutes and they SHOULD have no problems. Tonight they played about 5-10 minutes and still only lost by one goal. However it is scary to think that one or two bounces or calls that go the Ducks way and they could take the series.. I'm hoping the Wings come out flying in Game 7 and take a 3-4 goal lead in the 1st period. My nerves can't handle it if it's a really close game. OT would destroy me.
-
Hurrah for another 10 datsyuk threads.. The guy honestly didn't have a great game tonight. I thought he started out strong but seemed to be overworking situations later on in the game. I think he just needs to play more simple hockey. Give-and-go's, shots and rebounds etc. Also the Ducks are pretty much the worst kind of opponent for him. They go exclusively for the body, and get away with a ton of interference and holdings. I feel we need to win this series "without him" so to speak. Against Chicago he would probably tear it up.
