ZDH on PP. Finally Babs gets it.
-
oh my god. not the start we wanted. Wake up guys.
-
Canada-Sweden in the semifinal.. again. We didn't play great against the Czechs so I'm not too hopeful, but it should be a good game. Jonas Gustafsson played great today, he could be a difference maker.
-
Of course I want him back. I'd rather have Rafalski at 80% playing than Meech or Cheli at 100%. That said, I really think we can beat the Ducks without him. Our defense hasn't really been the problem.

Wings Recall Abdelkader, Howard, Kindl, Leino, and Downey
dat's sick replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
I'm not so sure, if the Wings lose tonight I could see Leino and/or Abdelkader playing Game 5 instead of Kopy or Maltby. -
Doesn't it seem like whenever the Pens need a goal, they get unlimited PP's until they score? Like 6 straight PP's for the Pens.. edit; nvm
-
Hm, Carolina leading 2-1 at the end of the 2nd.
-
"Crosby intended to score, therefore it is a goal" "But the puck was never in the net!" "Intent. To. Score." "..."
-
I knew it. You're mindfly's alternate account, right? It all makes sense now.
-
I think he has a bigger chance of getting this one than the Hart.. but still Malkin and Ovie will most likely split them, or Ovie will take both. Still a great honor. And mindfly is a joke. A sad, worn-out joke.
-
Agreed. Why can't he atleast go with ZDH on the PP? And Franzen, Fil, Hossa as the 2nd unit.
-
He should give the current lines 1 or 2 periods in Game 4, but if things don't look significantly better than they have up until now, he needs to put together the above lines. Leino should definitely be brought in if we lose the next game. I don't think he'll be some magic saviour of the team, but he could be a good wild-card on the 4th line. Maltby and Kopy haven't looked terrible by any means, just kind of irrelevant for the most part.

Last nights game was the last straw for me. The officiating was terrible most of the regular season, and it has only gotten worse in the playoffs. The way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised to see game 7 of the SCF be decided by some awful mistake by the refs. I'm more angry as a hockey fan than as a Red Wings fan. It's ruining the enjoyment of the game.
-
What do you mean? It they could review the play and overturn the call, thus allowing the goal, there would be no controversy. The game would then have been decided the way it's intented to be, by the players themselves.
-
I agree with most of the OP, especially that Hossa's tendency to dump the puck into the zone is completely the opposite of what you should do on Datsyuk's line. Datsyuk started looking really good in the 3rd period of tonights game, and he doesn't really need good linemates to dominate a game. But I'd love to see him back with Z. Right now I feel like we need a top line that can really dominate, that can give us sustained pressure in the offensive zone shift after shift. Spreading the wealth is great, but against this Ducks team we might have to load up a bit more on one line.
-
If anything it's the regular season that needs to be shorter.
-
Everyone saying that we played like s***, just how well did you think the Ducks played? I saw two teams that were slightly exhausted from a 5 period game just two days earlier, and it was a very even game. The scoreboard should have reflected that, it should have been tie. The wings can play better, there's a lot of things that can improve. But their effort this game was enough to get the game to OT.
-
A positive thing is that it seems like Getzlaf's line might be running out of juice. Even if the Wings don't win the next game, I think they have a good chance of turning a 3-1 situation around, if Rafalski comes back. Babs might have to start thinking about mixing the lines up. I thought he did just that for a little while at the end of the 2nd and immediately the Wings got more jump.
-
Didn't you see Hossa get off his ass at the end? But then the refs put him firmly back on his behind again. The Wings need to start playing from the first drop of the puck in the next game, but nothing can take away the fact that the refs ruined this game.
-
The Wings have to play better than they did, and make Hiller's job more difficult, but that call was ridiculous. Worst call of the playoffs by far. The Ducks had no offense the last 30 minutes of the game, so I really think the Wings would have won in OT. It's not over, but the next game is a must-win.. doesn't feel good to lose like this.. hopefully they suspend the officials.
-
Not sammy, please.. I can't stand it.. he ruins our PP's with softies into Hiller's chest..
-
He definitely looked like he was grabbing his chest in pain when going out on the stretcher. I'm not counting out that the elbow hurt him in the mouth, but if it was only that he should have been able to walk off. Didn't look like a fun injury at all, hate to see stuff like that.
-
The Ducks don't look as dangerous as they did in Game 1 and 2, but they do have really solid D. If the Wings can mix up the lines a bit and get some better matchups in the 3rd, and maybe get another PP or two, this is very possible to turn around. They looked like they had some jump at the end of the 2nd. That was the kind of PK that is a momentum builder.
-
Look Babs, atleast for this PP, give us ZDH with Lids and Ericsson. edit: okay that works too, big goal!
