Another completely invisible game from Weiss. I wonder if 24/7 will bring any insight as to what's up with him, or if we'll have to wait until sometime in the future to hear what is really going on. Because at this point there's has to be something seriously wrong with him. A healthy player does not perform this bad after being a solid player for many years.

I feel like we would have won if Nyquist-Franzen-Tatar played together all game. They created more chances together in the 3rd than the whole team did in the first 2 periods. We just needed a little more offense to win this. Thomas didn't look sharp and Florida's offense didn't do much even though they had a lot of shots. Oh well, hopefully we're starting to turn the corner injury-wise, with Datsyuk coming back tuesday and hopefully Helm shortly after and then Dekeyser come christmas. Can't expect to win a lot with this kind of lineup.

Babcock really should put them together with Franzen. While it would hurt the other lines, especially the one that gets stuck with Bertuzzi, I think it would help us a ton offensively. Tatar and Nyquist's chemistry is crazy and they're both tenacious forecheckers.

All the progress he seemed to be making a while ago is gone. Zero confidence, zero will, all he wants to do is give the puck to someone and go change. Also his rythm is completely off, he keeps killing offense by making bad plays at the blueline that end up in offsides.

Even though it seemed like a longshot that NJ would even manage another shot on goal, I'd be furious with that penalty if I was them. Total BS, imo you don't call a penalty like that one unless you're 110% sure you've got it right, it's something that should be let go if it's a 50-50 situation. Anyway, nice win after all. Kept it tight defensively and managed to take advantage on a couple of opportunities. Tatar is one hell of a player. His best play of the night may have been his 2nd assist, terrific strength to hold off the defender and find Nyquist. Then he adds a goal to seal the win. He's been very good the last few games, stepping up when we need it the most. Gustavsson faced some tough shots and did well. Say what you will, he gets the Ws.

Is this the game where people realize Bertuzzi is almost as useless as Cleary/Sammy when he's not playing with 2 superstars on his line?

We've all noticed. He's bad. Quincey is the more important problem though.

Just got home, saw the last couple of minutes. We looked good, too bad we're down. Don't expect us to score a ton with this lineup, PK has to get it together.

vs. You sure about that..? Find another goalie in the league who has been as consistently great as Lundqvist has been in his career. Can't do it? Fine, find another guy who is the face of his franchise. Can't do that either? Maybe someone who carries a bad/mediocre team into the playoffs year after year. Is that tough too? What about a guy who has a status and recognition comparable to Crosby, Ovechkin etc. and is widely known even to people otherwise not interested in hockey. Not that either huh? Hmm.. maybe this Lundqvist guy is actually, like, special... like...not just a run-on-the-mill starter. His worth to the Rangers franchise is beyond his Sv% or GAA, he is the guy those fans come to see. Not Callahan or Girardi. Lundqvist on better teams WOULD win cups. What he has won for the Rangers is countless hockey games. But you're basically saying that if not for those cup wins, Yzerman/Lidstrom would not be worth much? They wouldn't be missed? Fans would hate it if they got big contracts? You don't let the face of the franchise go, you don't let the heart and soul of your team go. Easy as that.

Letting King Henrik go would be like us letting Yzerman or Lidstrom go. Yeah it's long and expensive but there's exactly one goaltender worth it: Lundqvist. Face of the franchise, backbone of that team and with this deal a lock to be in the rafters of MSG one day.

Jimmy has to turn his game around very, very quickly or Monster could be the guy starting in the Winter Classic. Not to mention he could risk his chances for the Olympics.

It's a head injury to our best player. No one is gong to rush anything, least of all Pav himself.

I don't want to blame Howard but reality is Monster probably stops 2 or 3 of those goals simply because he plays bigger in net. I think it was the Giroux goal where it almost looked like Howard was ducking in net, he looked so small. #2 ranked PK gives up a goal on every penalty tonight. Can't really blame Z and D for that as they're not our main PKer. Andersson did not have a very good night, on and off the PK. He had 2 bad giveaways right before I think it was the 2nd Philly goal. That goal gave them some life. All in all I was happy with our offense. This is about the best we can hope for without Pav and Z. "Top" line had a goal, we got a goal from the 3rd line and a goal on the PP. And we had some chances that could have gone. But we gotta be able to lock it down defensively. This should have been a 3-1 or 3-2 win. At worst we should have atleast squeezed out a point.

He just seems unremarkable in every way. I didn't know much about him before but liked his stats and what I heard about him, but so far he's not shown much of anything. He's not fast, he's doesn't have a great shot, he's not strong on the puck, he doesn't win a lot of puck battles, he's not big or physical, he's not anything special defensively, he's not a great playmaker. I've seen a few glimpses of good stickhandling, showing he can beat a guy 1-on-1, but it's been too rare. Hope he finds his game, fast. I'm really starting to doubt he is a good fit for this team.

I think that's pretty much guaranteed to happen. Emmerton won't be 1st line C and Babs is a fool if he splits up the Helm or Andersson lines that have been great for us.

The Production Line ‏@TPLhockey 4m The only players who could have been called up with the space available were Parkes, Coetzee, & Emmerton (who was). $1000 away from Callahan Emmerton can do an okay job. This means Weiss will get his chance on the top line (I'm assuming). It's his time to show what he's got. If he doesn't do anything playing on the 1st line with Franzen and Nyquist I think it's time to be worried about him for real.

Time to give Darren Helm an A. He deserves it.

I don't know where you found a "-" in Kronwall's play, this is about as good as anyone could realistically expect him to play in his career. Alfredsson with the same grade as Abdelkader, Andersson and Tatar doesn't seem quite right even factoring in different roles/expectations. Abby is a B, Andersson a C+ and Tatar probably B-. I could probably go a little lower on Kindl and Howard too. edit: agree with the above Quincey should move up a notch, he's not quite Cleary levels of horrible but he's obviously still very bad. Enjoyed reading it though and pretty much agree with everything!

That was a big win, needed to get that Senators monkey off our backs. And for Alfie to win and seal it with a goal himself.. great stuff. Not much of a game but I love that we can now win games without relying on only our top line. Though the Franzen-Z-Nyquist line had another good game.

Nah, that horrific giveaway that almost resulted in an Ottawa goal disqualifies it. Overall he's had another great game though, simply great to see him turning things around.

We needed that shift by Tatar. Look at how chaotic the Sens defense becomes if you just pressure them a bit and hustle? Honestly we look bad and are kinda lucky to be up 2-1. Better 3rd please!
