WCQF GAME 3 GDT: Red Wings 4, Blue Jackets 1

ozzie is a bit grumpy that the team sat back and couldn't clear the puck out in the 3rd He wanted, and deserved, a shutout. Blue Jackets played a great game, but the Wings and Ozzie continue to look incredibly solid and more and more players are starting to get going. Stuart was better than he's been this whole season. -

I know Bettman gets a lot of hate, but I just can't muster up any great dislike for the guy. The things he says make sense most of the time. -

There was that Kunitz hit on Timmonen, I'm not sure if that was as clean though. Beautiful hit, and I'm glad Umberger didn't get injured by it. Great 2nd period. Blue Jackets are fighting and atleast they're going down swinging, but it's becoming increasingly obvious that they just can't match the Wings. -

So far the Jackets seem to be continuing their trend of only putting up a real fight in the first period. -

Blue Jackets have been really good in the 1st period of all 3 games, but Ozzie has been more than up for the task. Now the question is if the Blue Jackets will be able to keep playing like they've done so far in this game, or if that 2-0 goal was too demoralizing and we'll see the Wings take over like they did in game 1 and 2. -

This will be a close one I think. Wings need to be on their toes right from the start. I predict that a big night for Hossa will be the deciding factor in favor of the Wings. -
I think it can be entertaining, I love seeing the emotion and intensity of the playoffs and the "message sending" is part of that. However, when there's scrums after each and every whistle during the last 5 minutes of a game, it's a bit over-the-top. If St.Louis for example would focus a bit more on trying to actually play hockey, they might have been more succesful, their games have all been pretty close in terms of scoring.

What annoys me is that today NHL.com had collected some of the post-game lockerroom interviews on the frontpage.. that's good, but it was like "Sharks Postgame, Hurricanes Postgame, Crosby Postgame, Devils Postgame" :/

So true. I'm more interested in what the lines will be if we get Draper back for tomorrow's game. Hopefully Helm will still be in.

One of the reasons I predicted a Canucks sweep is because I have a strong feeling that the Blues are "satisfied". No one expected them to make the playoffs, and when they finally did it was like they collectively drew a sigh of relief and started to pat eachother on their backs. They weren't able to reload the batteries and set their sights on going deep in the playoffs, and that might be happening to the Blue Jackets as well. Both teams are better than what they've shown. Teams like the Rangers and the Ducks on the other hand, who fought for their playoff spots but have been there before and aren't happy with just getting in, they are on the way to upsetting the top seeds.

actually that was joe thornton. new tactic for the sharks, they're trying to intimidate the ducks.
-
No Sundin for the 'Nucks tonight. Lower-body injury. I'm sure they'll be able to handle the Blues anyway.
-
Neither of these teams impress me. At all.

I hate west coast games. Just because of that I want San Jose to knock the Ducks out. Will be rooting for Philly and Vancouver.

Nah, the Pens got lucky in Game 2 and didn't look very impressive at all. Fleury's been good though. Vancouver looks good so far, probably the most impressive along with the Wings. -

Well, that whole line with Huds and Sammy has been great both of these games, but Flip really stood out to me tonight. Just playing with lots of speed and good puck control, great passing, and creating some good chances. When playing like this he reminds me of a younger Datsyuk.. Awesome game. This team looks like they mentally erased the entire regular season and just picked up from where they left off in the SCF last year. Ozzie.. what can you say. I love the guy. -

Filppula has been AMAZING this game. He really seems to be a playoff performer.
