I've never liked Savard. Great player, but he just seems like a bit of a coward and an *******. If true, Crosby earns a little respect in my eyes.

I think you're looking at the Datsyuk vs. Zetterberg situation in 100x more detail than the people who vote on it do.. maybe I'm underestimating those people, but I think they see Datsyuk being top 5 in scoring, top 2 in takeaways, top 5 (?) in +/-, and simply being excellent at both ends of the rink, and they'll vote for him. The Red Wings lines have been juggled so much this season that it's hard even as a Wings fan to remember who played on what line and for how long. Remember the Selke isn't just about being good defensively, which is why guys with 20-30 points or less aren't going to win it. It's given to the player that demonstrates great qualities at both ends of the rink. Now personally, I think Zetterberg is the better defensive player out of him and Pavel. Pav has that magical takeaway ability, but overall Z is more responsible and always the 1st choice when there's a PK or when a lead has to be defended at the end of the game. However, I don't think Zetterberg has enough points or a good enough +/- this season to be chosen over Datsyuk or Parise. Now, my list: Art Ross Trophy - Malkin Lester B. Pearson Award - Steve Mason Hart Trophy - Steve Mason Vezina Trophy - Steve Mason Norris Trophy - Lidstrom Calder Trophy - Steve Mason Lady Byng Trophy - Datsyuk Frank Selke Trophy - Datsyuk Jack Adams - McLellan Maurice "Rocket" Richard - Ovechkin

Hossa, 6 years @ 6.25 cap hit.

WE SECURED A PLAYOFF SPOT EVERYONE! WE CAN FINALLY STOP WORRYING! Seriously though, awesome game. The team looked focused and determined to not give the Blue Jackets anything for free. Franzen was amazing I thought, not only the goal but he made a lot of great plays throughout the game. Hossa was back to his usual awesome self after looking a little slow yesterday, and Ericsson was a beast on the defense. Of course, best of all was Ozzie's shutout. Granted, he didn't face a ton of shots, or many really tough ones, but he was solid as a rock and it's easy to see he's starting to regain his confidence. Good to hear he will start the next game as well, hopefully both the team and him can keep this good thing going.

Beautiful goal! MUUUULE!

SAMMY! Nice shot!
-
man, the BJ's have a tragic PP-percentage. not hard to see why.
-
another penalty on Lids?
-
ew, Lebda.
-
I think he might be dying..
-
Just ignore the BJ announcers, guys, they're among the worst in the league. So happy I got the Wings feed.
-
Better to ice it than to do a fancy back-hand pass that ends up with Nash scoring.
-
HOSS! Mason owned!
-
Ozzie to start.
-
Avery has been great for the Rangers since they picked him up. 2 goals tonight.
-
A Wings hungry for revenge wins 14-3. Z, Dats, Hossa and Meech all pick up hat-tricks, with Lids getting the remaining 2. For the BJ's, Nash has 2 goals and Williams 1. Steve Mason somehow lets in 9 goals on the first 5 shots, and announces his retirement from hockey in the 1st intermission.

Calgary has barely won a game since the Jokinen trade.. The pumpkin-head himself has been good but the way the team has been playing almost makes me think the rumors of Jokinen being a lockerroom-cancer are true. And with Kipprusoff playing the way he is, I think one of the teams they'll likely face in the 1st round, the Blue Jackets or the Canucks, could knock them out in the 1st round. I'm still thinking San Jose-Detroit for the WCF. That would be a very tough series, probably decided in 7 games. From the East, I think the Bruins or the Devils will make it to the SCF and win against a tired, battered and bruised Western Conference team.

In Stefan's defense, it's clear that the puck hit a spot of bad ice and just randomly jumped over his stick right as he was going to put the puck in. It's just pure bad luck.. funny as hell, but I can't help but feel bad for Stefan.

3 shoot-out's and one OT-win has gone the wrong way for me.. if they had gone my way instead, I'd have 10 out of the first 12. Arghhhh...

I was joking. But I know some players change skates quite often, like once every 5 or 6 games.
-
Marty will probably get over 600 before he is done. What a goaltender.
-
That might be the main reason I want the Wings to take 1st, to stop all their "we're the best team in the league"-crap.
-
In other news, The Flames are trailing the Leafs 6-4 with less than 15 minutes to go. Kipper let in 6 goals on 22 shots.. edit: 7-4 now, guess the goalie-change didn't help much.

That's one of my favorite commercials of all time. Reminds me of the amazing intro to the movie Lord Of War, the "life of a bullet"-thing (youtube it). Don't NHL players change their skates like 7 times per game? I would assume a thing like that wouldn't happen to brand-new skates.

Yeah, San Jose has a lot of games against teams like LA, Colorado and Phoenix left.. they definitely have the easier schedule. I'm not putting much faith in LA being able to win tonight, but SJ needs to lose against some of these "bad" teams for the Wings to really have a chance.. so any help is greatly accepted, hear that Kings?
