I personally wonder if Minnesota needs to pay that much for a goalie considering the solid defense they have, but at the same time I understand why they'd want to keep him no matter the price. I don't know how much cap space they have, but if they can acquire some firepower up front during the off-season they'll be a dangerous team next season.

Anyone notice that he didn't give credit to guys like Datsyuk and Zetterberg for not going overboard with goal-celebrations? No, he only listed canadian players.. go figure. I said after the game against the Kings; "if the Wings would have played like this against a decent opponent they would have been destroyed"... Didn't know I was going to be proven correct the next day. That said, have we all forgotten that the Wings played perhaps their best game of the season just a few days ago against the Sharks? I would say that game is more representative of what this team can do and probably will do once the playoffs start than this game is. This was a dark day in Red Wings history, but in the end it doesn't mean anything. It showcased some of the problems the Wings have been having this season, but it was also at the end of a really tough month in terms of scheduling, in the 2nd game of a back-to-back and against an opponent who is fighting for a playoff spot. Take a couple of deep breaths and calm down everyone. It hurts like hell, but imagine this is what many teams in the league experience on an almost weekly basis.

Cleary, Kronwall, Ozzie, Draper, Maltby, Zetterberg. It doesn't feel quite right to throw Z's name into the mix since he's been far better than the others I mentioned, but I had such high expectations on him, I thought he could possibly make a legitimate push for a 50 goal season, and he hasn't quite gotten going until the last couple of weeks. Kronner is starting to look better, as is Draper, Maltby and maybe Ozzie (still a little too early to say), while I feel like Cleary is looking more and more out of place with Z and D. I'd put Kopecky's name there as well, but truth is I didn't expect much from him so he hasn't really disappointed.

Conklin, Lilja, Hudler, Helm, Leino, Datsyuk, Hossa, Sammy... those are the ones that have exceeded my expectations this season.

The SJ guys are probably worse homers, these dudes were pretty objective I thought. Except that they seem to think Frolov is as good or even better than Datsyuk. But they were terrible in every other way. They didn't know that Draper had played a 1000 games without looking it up, they struggled with the Detroit players' names all game, and many times even with the Kings' players (once they said "Osgood" made a save when it was Quick) etc. I even found their voices irritating.

Yeah, I guess. Obviously it's harder to get pumped up for a game against the Kings than it is against the Sharks. Even more so in the season after you've won the cup. Still, I was shocked to see such a bad passing game from the Wings. It is a strenght though to win these kind of games where you're basically at your worst, so that's something positive to bring from tonight, along with Ozzie's (hopefully) return to form.

Btw, the LA Kings announcers must be among the worst in the league. Just god awful.

Definition of an ugly win, but I'll take it. It feels good to be able to say Ozzie was our best player, I hope this builds some confidence for him. Is the ice bad in JLA or something? And in some way that mainly affects the Wings.. Something is seriously wrong with their passing game. Pucks are flying all over the place, towards legs and arms and faces, but not towards where the players actually have their sticks. They looked a little better in the 2nd though. Nice play by Leino for that goal, he is just insane. I saw that they moved him to the 4th and put Kopecky up on the 2nd. Good move, since the 4th line looks so much better with Leino on it. I hope the Wings step it up a bit in the 3rd.. start playing at atleast 50+% of their ability. But maybe this time they're playing bad the first game of the back to back instead of the second one?

I don't think I've seen a Wings team pass the puck this bad.. ever. The Osgood-effect on the team is clear as day. Atleast the man himself has been solid. Hopefully the guys can build on that last shift and improve.

The Wings are not passing the puck well so far. Lots of pucks going behind players or too far ahead or bouncing. Come on guys, try to play a good game for once when Ozzie is in net.

I'm going to try out hockeystreams.com first, if that is any good I might go with that and just hope that they don't get shut down by the NHL. 20 bucks for 3 months is a good deal, especially now when there only is about 3 months left of hockey. Anyway, I just saw that they show tonights game on Canal+ so I don't have to bother with streams for now..

10+ dollars for a 24 hour pass.. The monthly pass isn't exactly dirt cheap either. The full season pass might be a good deal but not with less than 20 games left (+playoffs).

Yeah, on Z's goal, the bounce off the netting and back into play without a whistle actually was a beneficial call for the Sharks, since they got to keep pressure in the zone instead of getting a stoppage in play and allowing the Wings to get fresh legs onto the ice. The fact that Z managed to steal the puck and do a great individual effort and score had nothing to with the puck going up into the netting. We could just as easily have been sitting here with 2 youtube videos of almost identical Sharks' goals and complaining about how the refs shafted us 2 times on netting goals.

Anyone using hockeystreams.com? $19.99 for 3 months, and if the info on their page is correct it should be better quality than Center Ice. I'm just wondering what will stop the NHL from shutting them down as well? I might try it out for tonights game and see if it's worth paying for.

Most of the season I've seen the East as a Bruins vs. Caps battle for the SCF.. now I'm beginning to think that the NJD will be one of the teams in the ECF.
