The whole 4th line (Drapes, Kopy, Maltby) have been extremely criticized this season, rightfully so. Kronwall has been up and down, but mostly down sadly. Cheli sometimes look okay, but much of the time he is actually looking as old as he is. But nothing can deny the fact that Osgood has been far from himself this season. It's not just about the pucks he lets past him either. It's all the rebounds he can't control, all the times he loses his position and the defense has to bail him out etc. He just spreads this aura of insecurity around him. Conklin has been almost the opposite. He always looks calm and secure, which I'm sure makes the defense relax a bit. It might be my imagination but I think our defense often looks better with Conks in net. I love Ozzie. Every game this season I've been hoping and praying that he will have a good game and start turning the corner, but sooner or later you have to realize that you can't give him all these chances if he never takes them. I don't see people screaming for Ozzie to get traded, we know he can and will return to form at some point, but right now we really, really have to play Conks as our no.1.

I don't know much about how to use proxy's and such.. but as I said it seems to work fine today, and I've never had any trouble with it before. Thanks for the advice though, I'll have to look into using a proxy if I have problems with it again.

It's weird, it didn't work for me and I know there are many others who had problems with it. But for some it worked just fine. Didn't seem to have anything to do with different browsers or anything either. I tried the site just now and it works for me again, but there was definitely something wrong with the site last night. It was for the best though, I really shouldn't have watched the game anyway since I had to get up early.

I'd hate to see us go down 2-0 in the first round of the playoffs because of Ozzie before Babs realizes something is wrong with him. You can blame the defense all you want, but a defense playing in front of a goalie they can't trust are going to be a lot worse than if they know the goalie does the saves he's supposed to. If Ozzie doesn't pick it up when we are on a 3 game losing streak, or when we play the no.1 team in our conference, how can we be sure he's going to magically become himself in the playoffs? Start Conks in a few games, allow the team a chance to bounce back from the losing streak, and have a talk with Ozzie about what's wrong. Then we can put him in when we're facing some worse teams to begin with, let him regain some confidence. Giving him a big challenge is obviously not jumpstarting him as Babs might have hoped. I was really worried about Detroit's goalie situation going into last year's playoffs, despite Hasek and Osgood both having great stats. Now the goalie we're supposed to rely on has some of the worst stats in the league, and our backup has been good, but isn't someone I would like to put my faith in to take us through the playoffs.. The good thing is that there is still time, and my heart tells me Ozzie WILL get better as the playoffs draw near, but the way he's playing right now he's seriously destroying our chances of getting the top spot in the conference, something that might prove extremely important given how much better the Wings have been at home.

I guess it was destiny that made atdhe not work last night. Seems like it saved me from a lot of frustration. Just hope the Wings put this game behind them and focus on really stepping up against Washington saturday. We need to end this losing streak, and what better way to do that then against one of the big teams in the East? Hank will probably return and Conklin start, which should give us a fighting chance.

Well, atdhe is not working so I'm going to bed. I guess it's a good thing in a way since I have to be up somewhat early tomorrow. Too bad about the Dallas goals, but I have faith the guys will turn it around. 5-2 Wings victory!

In before people start saying we should have signed Hossa instead. It didn't sound too bad according to Hank himself, I'd be surprised if he missed more than the one game.

Besides, if he invests the money properly (which should be fairly easy when the economy starts recovering, whenever that is) he will pretty much effectively increase his paycheck during those later years by a large margin. You could really see the relief on Hank's face now that this is done He definitely doesn't like these negotiations, and said it's been on his mind constantly and he wanted this to be last time he had to do it. Hopefully this means he'll be back to his old self now.. Btw, I think Emma is Hank's fianceé, they're not married yet as to my knowledge.

Not really surprised Stuart is going to be out a while.. it looked absolutely horrifying the way he hit the boards. It's never good when a player is injured, but I'd love to see Helm and Ericsson get the chance to play a few games now.

I don't think the size of the rink matters so much. Most swedes, russians, czechs and fins who will play in the Olympics are from the NHL, where they have adapted to the smaller rink. And in Salt Lake, Sweden absolutely crushed Canada in the group stage, but was then knocked out by Belarus of all teams.. Maybe Belarus is the team that benefits the most from the smaller rink?

Just got home, read thread title, said "HOLY MOTHER OF KEN HOLLAND" and almost cried a little. I could not be happier with this deal. I would have been fine with a 10yr/70mil contract, because I think Hank deserves the money and could easily get more than that elsewhere. But this just goes to prove what I always thought about Z, that he is a classy guy and will do whatever he can to help the team. They've talked about trying to find the deal that works best for both parties, and this really seems like they hit the mark perfectly. Hank gets a lot of money right away, but the team still gets a little room to sign the remaining players and maintain a strong lineup. And this thread needs more proof of what an amazing player Zetterberg is, and what a bargain he still is for us. This was the game that made me realize he would be one of my favorite players for a long time to come (game recap starts at 1:00 mark):

I hope it doesn't hurt their chances or their reputation. It doesn't feel good though that an underrated and often overlooked player like Datsyuk gets this kind of negative attention in a season where he is playing his best hockey ever, and should be a legitimate contender for the Hart trophy. Hopefully everyone will forget about this whole thing pretty soon.
