The guy has enormous potential. He was great in the playoffs and really looked like he could be the guy to take over after Lidstrom. I wouldn't give up on him just because he's been so-so this season.

I personally think that most "disagreements" between players could just be taken care of by laying a big hit on someone instead of starting a fight, and that's what I think would happen if fights were banned. But as I said earlier, I don't really want fights to be banned. I think it's lame when players fight for no reason other than being guys who are supposed to fight, but at the same time, if they want to go for it- let them. In the Swedish Elite League we don't allow fights and although I wouldn't say that's one of the top 5 reasons I don't watch many games in that league, it is a part of it.

We should put Meech and Lebda on the 4th line and Let Draper play defense and scratch Maltby/Kopecky.

I think this regular season has a little bit of a "just get it done" feel to it for many players. Other than Datsyuk and Hudler no players have really performed on their top level consistantly. And still we have an amazing record compared to other cup winning team's hangover seasons. I think ours was like the 5th best ever after 40 games, and if that was our "bad half" of the season than I'd say things are looking very good for us. I wouldn't be surprised if we're standing there at the end with the President's Trophy again. More and more players seem to be starting to get things going again, and I'm confident that as the playoffs come closer this team will start to really focus and tighten up their play even more. Obviously when you've won several cups as many on this team have, it's hard to get excited about playing Atlanta or Minnesota in round 33 of the regular season.

I still think 10 years is a bit long, so much can happen in that time. But at the same time I want nothing more than for him to remain a Wing for as long as possible, so I'll be glad if it turns out to be true. And maybe it's the best solution for the both of them, making them able to give him a lot of money right away without taking too big a hit to the salary cap.

Not personally a fan of fights, usually they're pretty lame and I just wait for the game to get going again, but I wouldn't want to ban them completely. It gets the crowd going atleast.

I've definitely seen Homer and Franzen fighting back. But the point is, the other teams WANT those guys I mentioned to fight back. Because then they'll end up in the box and can't do any damage. The Wings know this and mostly keep cool, get on the PP, score and win the games. Having enforcers like McCarty in the lineup has more negative effects (PK's) than it has positives. EDITED

The 4th line needs change, but I'll never understand the obsession so many north-americans have with fights and enforcers. If you think guys like Homer, Franzen, Lebda, Stuart, Lilja, Sammy, and even Hank, Pav and Hossa can't defend themselves you're wrong. They just know that you don't win many games by sitting in the penalty box. The Wings don't need enforcers to take the other team's energy away, we do it by our play on the ice, by getting on the PP and scoring etc. I wonder if we saw the same game last night, because I didn't see a men vs. boys game at all. San Jose is a slightly bigger team than ours and played physical, but I didn't see our guys folding.

I wouldn't be so annoyed at that last Sharks goal if it wasn't because we got a lot offside calls against us that seemed like they really could go either way. The one towards the end where Hossa even got a shot away is an example of that. Consistancy, where art thou?

This was an amazingly fun game to watch. We didn't win in the end, but remember that it took lousy goaltending, an illegal goal, a 5-on-3 and two breakaways due to sloppy defense to net them 7 goals. We scored 6 with Nabokov playing well and making some big stops, their defense not really making any huge mistakes, and with only one PP-goal(and barely getting any PP's). I don't know, I didn't see a team that we can't beat in the WCF. I saw us coming really close to winning despite letting in 7 goals, on their home ice. With a normal Ozzie, or with Conklin in net, we would have won this game. The only thing I'm worried about is if Conks would start to become shaky, then we would be in real trouble.

Too bad about the Sharks goal at the end of the 2nd..would have been nice to go into the 3rd with a lead. But still, this game is so awesome that I almost don't care. As long as we win the game, which I know we can. If we can get a break with the penalties. Btw, best 30 seconds of the game so far? Hank and Pavel together on the PK.
