This game is making me very angry. Not only the penalty that was among the worst calls I've ever seen in this sport, but then they miss a high stick in the face of a swede right after, not to mention several situations that very well could have been slovakian penalties, and then we score like 1/10th of a second after the buzzer. Still have faith we'll turn it around though, just have to slapshot the canadian refs in their faces so we can sub them for refs from a country that is not going to play in the final.

Slovakia in the semis, eh? Can't say I'm worried, they looked horrible in the group match against us, and even though we only won 3-1 it could have been much bigger numbers. I'd go so far as to say it'd be a fiasco if we don't reach the finals.

What a pass by flip! Just perfect. EDIT: I'm also keeping an eye on the Boston-Pittsburgh game, and there's something about seeing the Pens getting hammered that brings me immense joy.

I don't think they're looking too bad, but something isn't quite right with Hank this season.

Seriously. When he's like this it seems impossible for the opposing team to take the puck away from him.

If there was just SOMETHING that worked, so I could be a little hopeful.. and don't say "you can't be at your best every game", because the Wings have been pretty much at their worst several games in a row, and haven't been on their best for one whole game this season. Goaltending doesn't work, defense definitely doesn't work and I've never seen such lame offense from these players. Time to go back to the drawing board Babcock, find out what happened to that team we saw last year.

Look at the Senators last season. One of the best teams in the league before christmas, maybe the worst the rest of the season. My point is that a team can completely turn their game around in the middle of the season. Now, if things haven't gotten A LOT better by february-march or roundabouts.. I'm thinking this team could improve a bunch if they just rearranged the lines and d-pairings.

man, we are just pathetic in our own zone. right before their goal I was thinking "why does our zone seem like it's twice the size of theirs?".. it looks like no one really knows what to do and everyone's waiting for someone to steal the puck from the Boston players.

I really don't see this team turning a 0-3 game around right now.. even when we dominate puck possession, we barely get any quality chances. It's just grinding in the corners and half-hearted shoting attempts with 7 players in the shooting lane. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think it's going to happen.

I've been watching it for the whole game and can indeed confirm they are immense douches.

I've been disappointed in him this season, but I think this game was a step up for him.

only line that has looked good so far is Huds-Val-Helm. Helm should stay on the team, I think he should have been on it from the start of the season after his playoff performance. And I agree with what Reilly said, it's time for Babas to realize the first two lines aren't working right now. Sammy and Kopecky are dragging them down.

nah, I didn't say it would fix the defense, even though both those guys can do a tremendous job defensively. I'm just saying that I want to see them together again. Hossa and Pav are finding eachother decently enough, but it hurts seeing Z dragged down by Sammy. Also, I think Hossa and Franzen might be a deadly combination. As for the defense, I have no idea how to fix that mess.

Yeah, an entire team (defense primarily) doesn't suddenly become much worse over night. Especially guys like Lidstrom, not that he's been that bad this game. I'm thinking it's a combination of all the new lines/d-pairings and a new system that is messing things up. I'd like to see the euro twins back together actually.

Love Hossa, absolutely love him. He really is the one player in the team right now that really looks like he is giving it his all. Shame about the penalty but atleast he shows he's not happy about how Florida is taking over. Lilja is having a really, really bad period. Datsyuk have been a shadow of himself this game, Zetterberg and Franzen are trying but not getting anywhere.. And the entire team seems in disarray in the defensive zone.

Thing is Rangers have Lundqvist there to bail the defense out.. we need a good defense (despite our much better offense). 5-4 WOO! But what was Sammy doing?

The way Franzen looked when he walked off the ice I'd be VERY surprised if he's gone for the season, or even a few months. Of course, knee injuries are tricky and I never enjoy seeing someone get one, but I'm thinking it's more of a precaution to not play him anyomore tonight. *crosses fingers* Btw, yes, we're playing very bad defensively, but I'm starting to see some potential in the offense. The first line is starting to find eachother and the Power Play actually looks as good or even better than last season. If the defense still looks like this after 20 or 30 games, I'd start to worry.
