We are so terrible when the other team pulls their goalie.
-
He had an NTC so it may not even have been a possibility for us to ever offer anything.
-
Atleast we have Ericsson and Kronwall...right???....right?
-
In case Cola got injured?

Being a Calgary fan must be the worst feeling in the world. They've been crying for a rebuild for years, and when it finally happens... their GM absolutely screws it up, getting a simply awful return for their players. The 1st round picks they've gotten are late, the prospects are most likely going nowhere. Calgary will be a very, very bad team for a long time.
-
Crazy the things that can happen when you pair up a playmaker with a shooter. Huh.
-
What happened to Filppula this season? Soooooo mediocre, such bad decisions in the offensive zone.
-
Franzen may not be playing with the amount of fire and drive I'd like him to, but atleast he is making some skilled plays, getting pucks to the net, able to handle a pass and make a pass, win a puck battle, and generally do things that lead to offense. Abdelkader does nothing. Seriously. If he hustles it's not noticeable because he doesn't win pucks. If he hits, they're not big enough to be felt or seen. Watch him carefully. His stick is where puck possession goes to die. He's no faster than Franzen. He's not a top 6 player. Comparing him to Holmstrom is an insult to the Demoltion Man. Holmstrom was 10 times the player Abdelkader is and ever will be. Holmstrom had great hockey sense, he knew how to position himself, how to survive in the league despite being a bad skater, he made quick and good decisions with the puck, and worked harder and took more abuse than anyone. Abdelkader the "new version of Holmstrom"... talk about a downgrade.. christ. Franzen gets the most undeserved hate on this board. Now he's worse than Abdelkader? Am I going insane?

Datsyuk looked disappointed after the goal. I can see him thinking "no good, thats 10 games more with this guy on line"
-
Remember when he used to be on the 4th line, where he belongs?

Brunner hasn't hit the wall. He has slammed into it.
dat's sick replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
I don't think he's playing bad at all. He's not getting goals, but who is? And he's on the 3rd line while Abdelkader plays with our best playmaker. Brunner is skating well, doing much better defensively than he was early on, and he's pretty involved offensively. If players like Ovechkin can go through long goalscoring droughts then so can Brunner. But we can't rely on him alone to score all our goals. -
Must be great for fans that have barely gotten into their seats before the game is over, lol. Didn't really have time to watch this game anyway, this makes it an easy decision to skip the rest of the game.

Very excited to see if this guy can actually step right into the league and be effective. We really need a guy that plays a simple, smart defensive game, clears the zone etc. and I hope he can be that. But it's a tough time for him to enter the team. He won't get a long leash considering we have so many other D and most of them are doing pretty well at the moment. Future keeps looking brighter though. In 2-3 years we could be absolutely stacked on D.

People are overrating the impact of Morrow and Murray imo. Both of them are having terrible seasons. Iginla is more of an impact player, but maybe not as much as he was a couple of years ago. They're basically going all-in this season and if it works everyone will say Shero's a genius, if it doesn't they've given up a lot of future for nothing. Pittsburgh's been one of the favorites for a few years and haven't done much in the playoffs. Their defense and goaltending are still issues. In a 7 game series agains Montreal/Boston anythng can happen. That said, considering the relatively low price for Iginla, I would have taken him. Not like Holland can put a gun to Iggy's head and tell him to put Detroit on his list though.

Semin re-signs with Carolina: 5 years, $35 million ($7M/yr)
dat's sick replied to DatsyukianDekes's topic in General
That's a bad reputation that may or may not have had SOME truth to it at times in Washington, but ask any Carolina fan and they will say it's definitely not true this season. Actually he's been praised for his hard work, even defensively. And of course he's putting up points. It's a lot of money but it could turn out to be worth it. Looks like Semin and Staal have really found eachother. -
Overall pretty good, decent energy and we're creating chances. Too many giveaways and a bit sloppy on D.
-
That was like 2 minutes of us doing nothing but give the puck away and it finally ended up in the back of our net. This has the makings of a high-scoring game, if our legs last more than this period.
-
Looked like he was aiming for the goalie.
-
Good start, lots of energy and we're getting some chances.
-
I think Brunnee touched that. Regardless, he's looked great in the early going.
-
I would say Red Wings and Canucks have the biggest following/media-exposure in Sweden.. after that it's close between Pittsburgh, NYR, Toronto. Colorado had a lot of fans in late 90s and early 00s, but that's pretty much all died out.

Douglas Murray to Pittsburgh, Confirmed, Awaiting full details
dat's sick replied to evilzyme's topic in General
Pittsburgh really wants to win it this year, huh? But at the same time, if they're willing to give up two 2nd round picks as well as one of their best prospects, why not do it for Iginla instead? Murray and Morrow have both been awful this season and one of both of them will need a massive turnaround in Pittsburgh for these moves to look good. Giving up a lot of future for mediocre guys. Saying that though, they're definitely looking like a contender this year. -
Asking price is being reported as 2 prospects AND a pick. Not sure if I'm interested if we have to give up Nyquist/Tatar + another prospect.
-
Happy to hear it. Any experience he can get NOW will only help him out later, make him more ready when training camp starts. Hoping to see Järnkrok, Tatar and Nyquist all with the Wings next season.

We didn't have much after the 1st period offensively, and made a ton of defensive mistakes and gave the puck away constantly. Luckily we have Howard. For all those who say "elite goalies should be able to steal a game for their team, therefore Howard is not elite"... well, I give you exhibit A. Not that it's the first time Howard's done it, far from. Huge points. We need to keep rolling so Holland feels comfortable making a splash at the deadline.
