Can't blame the defense so far this season. We've been shutout once, scored only 1 goal twice, and it's looking like we'll have to fight not to get shutout tonight as well. Defense has been good enough apart from the first game, but if we can't score we can't win.

Makes sense, all our 1st periods have been awful. This was maybe our best and that says it all.Kronwall needs to move his feet instead of taking penalties.

I think it's been a long time since Kindl looked really bad, but he's also not really a guy that has done much to impress. There may be potential in him though and I absolutely think giving him a good, long look right now is the right thing. Lashoff has been good but let's not go overboard, it's not like he's that invaluable to our team that we can't afford even one game without him.

Snipers... what snipers do LA have? Boston? Depth scoring is more important than having a Stamkos. We could use another good goalscoring winger for sure, but we need scoring from everyone right now. Bottom 6 have to chip in a goal every now and then. Filppula has to score. Our D has to score. No one is scoring.

Well I'm happy with a point, though we actually had aome chancea to put it away in regulation which would have been amazing. I smell shootout..

He's huge for this team. Hank and Pav both can be 'the heart' but they've sucked tonight. Sigh. Tough to watch, come on Wings!

Babs/Renney have to change the PP formations.. Datsyuk one on, Z on the other. Brunner on the wing, closer to the slot/circles. Franzen/Bertuzzi at the net. This isn't just not working, our PPs are actively hurting our game.

Tonight is his first 'bad' game I'd say. Though he's far from last year's form. Wondering if it wouldn't be better to have him with Z.

Smith's starting to look comfortable and confident out there, not as nervous as he was the first game or two. That rush where he drew the penalty was great. Agreed on Cleary and Franzen. Mule is so weak on the puck, keeps losing it. I have more tolerance with him cause he can make things happen around the net atleast. Cleary is just nothing. I

Brendan Smith looked really good that period. Rest of the team needs to step it up though. One positive note is that 5-on-5 we're atleast doing okay.

It's not as bad as you guys make it sound. They are riding a wave of confidence and got the tempo in their legs after playing yesterday. They're also at home. Logically, they should get a bit tired as the game goes on and the Wings should then be able to take advantage. We'll see.

Our special teams are the worst in the league so it's unfortunate most of our games so far have been played that way. Stop taking penalties, talk the refs into not giving us any more PPs and maybe we can win.

I think this game will be a decent indicator of where we are. The guys have had a couple of games to shake the rust, and they've had 2 days off to rest, recover, and get ready. Add to that the welcome addition of Helm, Bert and yes, Kindl, and I'm hopeful we'll see the best effort so far from this team. I predict we somehow finally get our goalscoring going and take this one 5-3.

I'm sorry OP but that is one of the worst trade proposals I've seen. You can't just package 5 s***/mediocre players together and think they'll add up to great value. How often do you see a trade that massive?? Never. What would be the motivation for Winnipeg in that scenario? What would be in it for then? Nothing. If we were to trade for D I see New Jersey as a more likely partner. They've got a really deep defense, so deep in fact that Adam Larsson isn't even playing. They haven't really replaced Parise so Franzen/Filpulla + Tatar/Nyquist for example might be interesting to them.

I'm glad Brunner got that goal, no one deserved it more. Super impressed with his character and determination towards the end, he was skating hard, fighting for pucks, making good plays, shooting the puck, and then when all hope was lost he took the puck into the zone himself, got it deep, and created the situation that led to the goal. Great work. It's easy to feel pessimistic after this game but I didn't think it was too bad. We had a good 1st, a bad 2nd and first half of the 3rd, and a good finish. Howard was amazing but we couldn't solve Lehtonen. It's not all 'bad luck', but it can't go like this every game. We have so many posts, so many open nets missed, so many should-have-gone-ins during this game and the last, it will build up and goals will start coming easier.

Can't believe our inability to score. I know it's not all just 'bad luck' but geeez sooner or later you'd think a puck has to somehow find it's way in??

Does anyone else get a slightly jealous feeling everytime they see that another team, any team, has scored a goal? I do.

I feel like the PP problems have a lot to do with small individual mistakes. Like trying too many low-chance passes. Once we are set up in the zone we look pretty good.

Smith just looks nervous. Keeps falling over. Also him and Quincey simply don't work as a pairing. Plenty of offensive d-men look awful defensively when they first enter the NHL so I wouldn't exactly give up hope on him.

Looks like he's playing really simple and not above his abilities, which I really like. It's needed on this defensive roster. On the negative side he looks very slow out there, but as long as he actually does stay at home for the most part he should do the job.

For sure. Although right now I'd be happy if ANYONE could score. Damn we're having trouble getting pucks in the net.
