I hate shootouts but I'm glad we got the extra point. Very needed. Should have managed to win the game in regulation however, we had enough chances. BJ's aren't a bad, they've been underestimated, but they are a team we need to be better than if we're gonna make the playoffs. Overall a MUCH better game than against the Blues, still too many defensive breakdowns, and too many penalties and bad PK. But there was a lot of progress made. Bottom 6 looked great imo. Cleary is the only questionmark there. Filppula was good, but needs more help. Franzen was okay but Samuelsson was the worst player on the ice. Top line showed moments of brilliance. Brunner had great hustle all game, got himself in a bunch of scoring opportunities and showed his amazing talent in the shootout. I think he'll very soon start putting the puck into the net during regulation as well. Both Datsyuk and Z have a lot more in them though. Z tried to do too much a lot of the time, maybe something he needs to shake after playing against lesser opposition all season. Great work on the Datsyuk goal though. On D, it was a mixed bag. Lashoff will be difficult to remove from the lineup. The fact he got so much time on the PK and in key moments of the game obviously shows Babcock immediately recognized the kid was playing more solid than most of our other guys. Quincey needs to go back to basics, Smith has some serious defensive issues to work on, and Kronwall has to simplify his game. White and Colo both were passable imo. Howard was solid enough, he seems to be finding his game.

Cleary, Sammy and Quincey seriously bring nothing. And I'm sad to say it but Zetterberg and Datsyuk need to step up soon. They've both been playing in europe but look out of it. Brunner I actually like.

We really should win this game. But can't do so on the PK..

He's got a good shot and uses it a lot, only a matter of time before they start going in imo.

Argh, I sooo want the 1st line to just get a goal. They need it badly.

Smith's been caught flat-footed a couple of times. He needs to work on that.

Lashoff is leapfrogging Kindl I think. Kid looks more confident than pretty much anyone else on our D. Btw, I am in awe over how bad Samuelsson is.

Great pressure and awesome to see Lashoff score. He's looked solid, plays simple but with a certain confidence about him. Now let's destroy these guys.

Right now I'm kinda thinking that but Sammy instead of Emmerton. Sammy has been complete garbage so far, giving Fil no help on the 2nd line.

Haha, for real. Not that Brunner didn't make some mistakes but he's really harping on.

For sure, as does the whole team so far. Brunns needs a goal to get that confidence boost in scoring situations and I think he'll be fine.

Give 'em a game or two more. Last game was just impossible to draw any conclusion from, hopefully tonight is where we actually start seeing them look like a team and then we can start analyzing what works and what doesn't.

We took a good ass beating last night A loss is a loss. Vancouver have 2 straight losses, so do the Rangers. All we need to do is win against Columbus and we have a better record than two of the cup favorites.

Goalies were the least of our problems tonight. How about an offense unable to get a single good scoring chance, or a defense allowing about 4 clean breakaways? I'm confident this is NOT a good indication of the real status of this team.

Come on. Atleast give them 4-5 games to get their asses in gear. They may have looked like the worst team in the history of hockey tonight but atleast they can't possibly play worse?? Right?....right???

Glad that's over. Wings gave up after 3. Blues are scary. We have a lot of problems. Datsyuk must feel bad coming back to this.

Maybe Nyquist can suit up for the 3rd... And Lidstrom.

Worst game I've ever seen the Wings play. Honestly. Can we get any sustained offense going in the 3rd? Give us something to make us belive this season won't be a total trainwreck? I'm an optimist, but there's nothing here to be optimistic about..

Fantastic work on the OP. Not expecting the most well-played game tonight, more likely we'll see a battle of two teams trying to find their timing and getting their game back. Individual mistakes or individual skill will likely play a large part in the outcome. The Blues have a great looking team this year again and it's a good test even though the first game is likely to be a crapshoot. Still I'm optimistic, 5-3 Wings. Goals by Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Smith, Kronwall and Brunner. Let's Go Wings !
