Yeah even though that penalty shot was BS, he's been caught flat-footed several times in the 1st period. Overall, looks like another typical road game for the Wings. They look a bit slow, they're losing faceoffs, not being sharp enough on the passing..

Well deserved. I remember some other Most Skilled list, might have been from TSN too, but that one was all-time and Datsyuk was I believe the only active player on the list (at like #9). The moves I marvel most at from him are the ones that never reach the highlight reels. Such as last game when he did som crazy dance-like spinorama while controlling the puck and then feeding a perfect pass to a teammate. It was a just a little moment, didn't lead to a goal, but my jaw was on the floor. I've never seen another player that is as surprising and fun to watch. I loled hard at that.

"The Moose"!?

Things were bound to balance out a bit at some point, I mean he's not going to be a 80+ point player... he's still on a great pace and needs only 16 points in about 50 games to break his career high in points. I see him landing between 55-65 points.

How Are The (former) UFA's That We All Wanted Doing?
dat's sick replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
It always seemed crazy to me that people doubted Jagr so much before his return to the NHL. I'm not surprised at all he's doing so well. On the other hand I never expected White to play so great. All in all I can't complain, Jagr felt like a long shot and Franzen is filling the role of PP sniper pretty well. -
Definitely feels like it's Pav. I want to see Tatar, but I don't want it to be because of a Datsyuk injury.. :/
-
I hope they keep doing these so we get to see one with the Wings.. preferably before Holmstrom retires and Datsyuk goes to Russia. Last year's may have been a little overhyped, but it was definitely a very interesting watch and the production quality seems much higher than anything hockey-related is usually blessed with. Definitely have a feeling Torts will be the star of this..

It's a good thing they're not blocking more shots. Detroit players seem unable to block a single shot without getting injured. I'd like to see some stats for how many shots Detroit block in the playoffs though. I feel like they always improve a lot in that area in the postseason, which is as it should be. We win games by staying out of the box more than almost any other team, being better 5-on-5 and having a good PP. In the regular season we can afford a PK that's not at the top of the league.

Teemu is the one guy I respect on the Ducks roster. I even like him despite the amount of times he has brought pain and suffering upon the Swedish National Team. Just like Lidstrom, he simply doesn't seem to get worse with age. For the most part he carries himself with class, and he's just an all-around cool guy.

Ty Conklin™: When you want to turn a winning streak into a losing streak. Seriously though, I agree with chrisdetroit's post. Let's just hope they don't lose a few more, the West is too close this year to afford losing streaks every now and then.
-
Certainly, when looking at our team, the backup goalie is what worries me most. Conks looked awful in his last two games and Babs obviously has zero confidence in him. At this rate, Jimmy is going to be completely burned out come playoff time, if not sooner. We need someone that can atleast give the team a fighting chance every now and then so Jimmy can get some rest. I agree that Conklin's next game is make or break time. If he once again pretty much loses the game on his own, now way in hell will Holland/Babcock go forward with him backing Jimmy up. MacDonald is not a perfect solution but he was pretty solid for us in the past and it's definitely worth putting him in for a game or a few games to see how he does. Otherwise Holland may have to start looking at trades. Too bad Daniel Larsson went back to sweden and McCollum's development took a nosedive.

The other team wants to win too, you know. It's not unheard of for a team with a 2-goal lead to play a little more cautiously at the end of the game, while the team that's down, especially if they're desperate for points (like Tampa) pushes hard regardless of man disadvantage. Awesome game, Detroit played very, very good hockey and there's a little too much whining about small stuff imo. This felt like a playoff game. 6 straight wins and the team is looking great pretty much top to bottom. I'm of course worried about the workload for Howard, but for now watching him is so much fun.

This is an awesome game. Shame about the last minute goal but this is anyone's game to win and I'm glad Stevie Y's team is putting up not only a good fight but an entertaining one too.

The way he's playing this season, so far, 3 mil is a bargain for him. He's had stretches of a few games where he's played like this, especially in the playoffs, but I can't remember him ever having a 20+ game run like what he's on now. Even when not scoring points he's just doing good things out there. And most of all, around the net he looks 100% more confident and nothing like the undecisive pass-first shoot-never guy from previous years. Amazing to see.

That clip of Ovie getting "benched" show so blatantly that he has no respect for Bodreau. I doubt it was only Ovie that had a lack of respect for him. As a coach you gotta make it 100% clear from day 1 that you're in a charge and that you treat all players equal. Bodreau seemed to think that he could be buddies with the players and let them do whatever they wanted as long as they won, only to think that yelling 'f***' over and over would make them respond if they were playing bad. When he finally got the balls to sit Ovie in a key moment, even if it was the right decision, it was too late. I can't imagine Ovie acting like that against Babcock or Scotty Bowman. Dale Hunter will probably enter the locker room in Washington with a lot of free respect just from having a history as a very good player. But he has to keep it. Will be a tough task with primadonnas like Semin, Green and Ovie.

Valtteri Filppula is... ..MAN ON FIRE. f***, he's good this year.
-
Gotta feel good for Z to be getting some points. Most of his points this year have been real pretty ones too. Just gotta some more ugly ones and he'll be way above that projected '30-ish' points that he was heading towards recently.
-
That was kind of a funny goal. Fil is tearing it up this season.
-
Sweet combinations on that shift from Datsyuk's line.
-
This would be a very big win, but I have this feeling it will be a letdown game. We're on a 4-game win streak, just got a big one against Boston, second game of a back-to-back.. yeah, just feels like on of those games that we often lose. Hope I'm wrong.
-
Nice to see Carl Hagelin with his first NHL goal. Lundqvist was solid as usual. But Flyers looked underwhelming.
-
Definitely still has the skill. Some nice assists and a sweet goal in the last couple of games. But something looks way off with him, like he's in pain out there. He's never been a very smooth skater, but now it looks like every stride is a struggle.
-
That was a Red Wings 3rd period. Good to see. Datsyuk is getting his points per game back up to where it should be for him. Now Zetterberg just needs to follow.
-
Fil! Nice one, he's having a good season.

Euro Twins! Keep this lead boys! edit: So it wasn't Z's goal. Still Z with the assist!
