Eh, I'm not too concerned.. just hope Franzen is okay. But I really, really want to see the first line, and Hank especially, score a goal in the 3rd.

Ozzie's gotta be kept warm, especially early on in the season, so things don't turn out like last year when every game he started seemed like an automatic loss. As long as he plays solid, like he did last game, no one should complain. Come playoff time, if we have a rested Howard and an Osgood that is a viable option, things will look real good for us.

If the overtime was 10 minutes instead of 5 this wouldn't be much of a problem. Wings always seem to dominate OTs and create a ton of chances but time runs out and instead of an OT win it's a SO loss. That said, Wings SHOULD be better in SOs this year compared to last. Modano, Hudler and a healthy Franzen will all help with that. Didn't tonight, but it's early. If the Wings still have SO problems in a few months this thread is justified.

Z had so much trouble scoring last year that I just think he needs to get his scoring going early this year, for his confidence. I'd like to see him score 30-40 goals this season, and I think with the chances he's had the first 2 games he should have already had a goal or two. A couple more games where he has chances but can't convert and it could get in his head.

Will be working so I can't watch but will keep updated on the score.. hope the boys take a 3rd straight. And it would be great if Hank scored, he needs to start putting the pucks in.

I really hate the Ducks, so glad we're not gonna have to deal with them in the playoffs this season. Was holding my breath during Pavel's fight. Those hands are not made for punching things..

It's just the first game, just the first period, just the Ducks... but this team looks good. The first 10 minutes especially were fantastic. Would like to see Zetterberg score though. He needs to get his scoring going early this season.

What a start for this team. I gotta be careful not to get TOO excited.. but I love what I'm seeing.

I'm thinking the Wings will be pumped to show they're a force to be reckoned with this season. 5-1. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Lidstrom, Hudler.

I'm not too worried about 4th line injuries this season, we've got great depth there. Sucks if Bert starts the season with an injury though.

He's looking like 07-08 Z out there. Even though I loved the Z of the past 2 years, it makes me very glad that he's lost some weight and gained back some speed. Having balance and strenght is important, but in today's league skating and speed is more important and that was a problem for Z last year; often he looked a bit sluggish.

My god, Zetterberg looks so good out there! It looks like the Z from 2-3 years ago is back, he's gonna have a sick season..

Bertuzzi, maybe Modano (hopefully not), Howard if his rebound control hasn't improved, Ericsson, Kindl, Salei, Hudler, Filppula, Homer, Zetterberg, Rafalski, Datsyuk, Kronwall, Stuart, Draper, Abdelkader etc. Basically everyone except Lidstrom.

Remove the "(forwards)" and it makes more sense I think. He's talking about how he wants Nick and Raffi to have a younger guy next to them, maybe to keep them on their toes or to give them new energy. Atleast that's my take.
