With Howard stepping up I didn't really see a future in the Wings for Larsson. He seemed to be having a tough year in the AHL and that coupled with the fact that he probably realized that he'd have to spend at the very least one more year down there before he got a decent shot in the big leagues most likely was what made him decide to go back home.
-
To be honest I didn't expect him to do this well in Philly. Just didn't seem like the right team for him. Happy for him though. I was disappointed when we had to let him go because I knew he had it in him, a shame we were in a position where we couldn't have more patience with him.

Rumors has it around 6m per year, which would be an absolute steal for the Caps.

His 2nd goal was sweet. 2+1 for Pavel today, he's been Russia's best player for sure. edit: he just score his 3rd on a classic Datsyuk penalty-shot! WOOO!

Lids and Homer!

You think so? It was a nice combination on the goal, but usually this is what happens: *Pavel is deep in the defensive zone working to win the puck while Malkin and Kovy are floating ready to jump up offensively* *Pavel wins puck and passes one of the two linemates* *Kovy/Malkin skates and dribbles for a while and either shoots the puck or loses it some other way* *Other teams goes back the other way and the process starts over* I hate watching Pavel playing with guys who never give him the puck back after he passes them. That's one of the reasons I've never been sold on the idea of getting Kovalchuk to Detroit. Pav is best with guys like Zetterberg, or even Franzen and Holmstrom, players that return the puck back to him once in a while. Btw, I would give anything to see Bykov play Fedorov and Datsyuk on the same line.. it won't happen since those are their two best Centers, but they are my two biggest hockey-heroes of all-time and to see them on the same line would be a dream come true.

He's got two gold medals (soon to be 3) in the WHC. It's not Cups or Olympic golds but you can't say he's never won anything. I really don't want him on the Wings though and luckily he won't ever come here, this thread is pretty funny though with the people who think there's a chance

SJS/CHI:4-3 PHI/MTL:4-2

No Datsyuk against Belarus.. :/

Man, I'm so disappointed that they're not planning to completely blow up the team because we only made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs and lost against the 2nd best team in the league. Obviously we need to change a lot of things if we can't make the SCF 3 years in a row.

I sent Nick a text asking if he's going to keep playing. He answered "how did you get this number?". Not sure what to think.

I think Pavel was our most consistant player in the playoffs. Howard, Lidstrom, Z, Franzen etc. all had great games here and there but Pavel was great in every game.
-
nvm there's a thread about it.

After what Howard did this year I'm not going to throw anymore prospects under the bus until they get a real shot with the Wings.

Game 4 of the Sharks series and Game 7 of the Yotes series were awesome. Regular season I'd have to say the Pittsburgh game where Crosby started acting like a baby at the end. That was fun. Also every game against the Hawks when we were healthy. Damn, he got shut down again?? The NHL needs to hire him, not get him banned from youtube.

Big E is going to join the Swedish team. No other Detroit-swedes has made a decision, other than Lids who is not going.

Great season for sure. The team showed a ton of heart and strenght in being able to overcome all the off-season losses and injuries. The way they adapted from winning games purely on skill and scoring to grinding out 2-1, 3-2 wins was amazing to see. The emergence of Howard is probably the one lasting memory I'll have of this season. Let's just hope he can repeat his performance next year. He was inconsistent in the playoffs but I believe he was worn out, and still he had some really good games. He's our guy going forward for sure. You can't be disappointed in making the 2nd round of the playoffs this season. It was never going to be "our season". Making the playoffs was our victory this year, everything that happened in the playoffs was a bonus. Atleast that's how I see it. They can't make the final every year. Next year they'll be more rested and healthier, with Hudler and hopefully still with Lidstrom. Looking forward to it.

I haven't seen any of the games so far, but I'm definitely going to start watching.. Sweden doesn't have many star players and I don't expect us to do that well, but we have a young team and hopefully they show that Swedish hockey has a future after Sundin, Forsberg, Lidstrom, Alfredsson etc. are all gone.

I've kept my hopes in check after we won Game 4. I still think this series is very much over. If we win tonight however.. I might have to reconsider.

Like previous posters said it's international play. Those are great selections, although it should maybe be Larionov isntead of Gretzky.

Never thought i'd say this,but...
dat's sick replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
I think Cleary's been pretty good lately actually, but obviously he's not going to score like last year while playing with Helm and whoever instead of Franzen and Zetterberg. He's a useful piece in that he can play on pretty much any line. Gotta be honest though, except for last year's playoffs with Hank and Mule, I've never found him to really, really find a place on the team or create any great chemistry with anyone. -
I wouldn't be surprised. From what I hear Williams has some powerful connections in the italian mafia.
-
Lol if you're serious, I made that post AFTER he scored his 3rd goal
-
It's tough to watch Franzen struggling out there, his knee is really holding him back.
-
He looked good for us last year too, but that didn't stop people from bitching just because he didn't score.
